Evening Prayer - Monday Sep 05 2022

Confession

Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you
in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done,
and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
have mercy on us and forgive us;
that we may delight in your will,
and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your Name.

Amen

May Almighty God have mercy on us,
forgive us all our sins
through our Lord Jesus Christ,
strengthen us in all goodness,
and by the power of the Holy Spirit
keep us in eternal life.

Amen

Friday - Evensong Invitation

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Grace to you and peace from God our Fa-ther
and from/the Lord Je-sus Christ.
Wor-ship the Lord in/the beau-ty of his holi-ness;
let the whole earth trem-ble be-fore him.

Let my prayer be set forth in your sight as in-cense,
the lifting up of my hands as the eve-ning sacri-fice.
I will bless the Lord who gives me coun-sel;
my heart teaches me, night after night.

I have set the Lord al-ways be-fore me;
be-cause he is at my right hand, I shall not fall.
O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

O Gracious Light

O gracious Light,
pure brightness of the
everliving Father in heaven.
O Jesus, Christ, holy and blessed!

Now as we come to the setting of the sun,
and our eyes behold the vesper light,
we sing your praises, O God:
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

you are worthy at all times
to be praised by happy voices,
O Son of God, O Giver of life,
and to be glorified through all the worlds.

Psalm 52Quid gloriaris?BCP p. 657
You tyrant, why do you boast of wickedness *against the godly all day long?
You plot ruin;your tongue is like a sharpened razor, *O worker of deception.
You love evil more than good *and lying more than speaking the truth.
You love all words that hurt, *O you deceitful tongue.
Oh, that God would demolish you utterly, *topple you, and snatch you from your dwelling,and root you out of the land of the living!
The righteous shall see and tremble, *and they shall laugh at him, saying,
“This is the one who did not take God for a refuge, *but trusted in great wealthand relied upon wickedness.”
But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; *I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.
I will give you thanks for what you have done *and declare the goodness of your Name in the presence of the godly.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

A Reading from the Gospel According to John.        (John 10:19-30)

Again the Jews were divided because of these words. Many of them were saying, “He has a demon and is out of his mind. Why listen to him?” Others were saying, “These are not the words of one who has a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?”

At that time the festival of the Dedication took place in Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple, in the portico of Solomon. So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.”

Jesus answered, “I have told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name testify to me; but you do not believe, because you do not belong to my sheep. My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. What my Father has given me is greater than all else, and no one can snatch it out of the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.”

The Word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God.

The Song of Simeon        Luke 2:29-32        Nunc dimittis

Lord, you now have set your servant free*
to go in peace as you have promised;
For these eyes of mine have seen the Savior,*
whom you have prepared for all the world to see:
A Light to enlighten the nations,*
and the glory of your people Israel.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and will be for ever. Amen.

Oración vespertina diaria - 02 septiembre 2022

Adoren al Señor en la hermosura de la santidad;

tiemble delante de él toda la tierra. Salmo 96:9

No te hemos amado con todo el corazón;
no hemos amado a nuestro prójimo como a nosotros mismos. Sincera y humildemente nos arrepentimos.
Por amor de tu Hijo Jesucristo,
ten piedad de nosotros y perdónanos;

Señor, apresúrate a socorrernos.

Mientras callé, se envejecieron mis huesos *porque gemí todo el día;
Mi pecado entonces te declaré, *y no encubrí mi culpa.

Demos gracias a Dios.

Cántico de Simeón Nunc dimittis
San Lucas 2:29-32

Ahora despides, Señor, a tu siervo, *

Psalm 37: Part IINovit DominusBCP p. 634
The Lord cares for the lives of the godly, *and their inheritance shall last for ever.
They shall not be ashamed in bad times, *and in days of famine they shall have enough.
As for the wicked, they shall perish, *and the enemies of the Lord, like the glory of the meadows, shall vanish;they shall vanish like smoke.
The wicked borrow and do not repay, *but the righteous are generous in giving.
Those who are blessed by God shall possess the land, *but those who are cursed by him shall be destroyed.
Our steps are directed by the Lord; *he strengthens those in whose way he delights.
If they stumble, they shall not fall headlong, *for the Lord holds them by the hand.
I have been young and now I am old, *but never have I seen the righteous forsaken,or their children begging bread.
The righteous are always generous in their lending, *and their children shall be a blessing.
Turn from evil, and do good, *and dwell in the land for ever.
For the Lord loves justice; *he does not forsake his faithful ones.
They shall be kept safe for ever, *but the offspring of the wicked shall be destroyed.
The righteous shall possess the land *and dwell in it for ever.
The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, *and their tongue speaks what is right.
The law of their God is in their heart, *and their footsteps shall not falter.
The wicked spy on the righteous *and seek occasion to kill them.
The Lord will not abandon them to their hand, *nor let them be found guilty when brought to trial.
Wait upon the Lord and keep his way; *he will raise you up to possess the land,and when the wicked are cut off, you will see it.
I have seen the wicked in their arrogance, *flourishing like a tree in full leaf.
I went by, and behold, they were not there; *I searched for them, but they could not be found.
Mark those who are honest;observe the upright; *for there is a future for the peaceable.
Transgressors shall be destroyed, one and all; *the future of the wicked is cut off.
But the deliverance of the righteous comes from the Lord; *he is their stronghold in time of trouble.
The Lord will help them and rescue them; *he will rescue them from the wicked and deliver them,because they seek refuge in him.

A Reading from the Gospel According to John.        (John 9:1-17)

As he walked along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned; he was born blind so that God’s works might be revealed in him. We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

When he had said this, he spat on the ground and made mud with the saliva and spread the mud on the man’s eyes, saying to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means Sent). Then he went and washed and came back able to see.

The neighbors and those who had seen him before as a beggar began to ask, “Is this not the man who used to sit and beg?” Some were saying, “It is he.” Others were saying, “No, but it is someone like him.” He kept saying, “I am the man.”

But they kept asking him, “Then how were your eyes opened?” He answered, “The man called Jesus made mud, spread it on my eyes, and said to me, ‘Go to Siloam and wash.’ Then I went and washed and received my sight.” They said to him, “Where is he?” He said, “I do not know.”

They brought to the Pharisees the man who had formerly been blind. Now it was a sabbath day when Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes. Then the Pharisees also began to ask him how he had received his sight. He said to them, “He put mud on my eyes. Then I washed, and now I see.”

Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for he does not observe the sabbath.” But others said, “How can a man who is a sinner perform such signs?” And they were divided. So they said again to the blind man, “What do you say about him? It was your eyes he opened.” He said, “He is a prophet.”

The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
