Oración vespertina diaria - 29 julio 2022

Adoren al Señor en la hermosura de la santidad;

tiemble delante de él toda la tierra. Salmo 96:9

No te hemos amado con todo el corazón;
no hemos amado a nuestro prójimo como a nosotros mismos. Sincera y humildemente nos arrepentimos.
Por amor de tu Hijo Jesucristo,
ten piedad de nosotros y perdónanos;

Señor, apresúrate a socorrernos.

Salmo 73
¡Cuán bueno es Dios para con Israel, *
para con los limpios de corazón!
En cuanto a mí, casi resbalaron mis pies; *
casi tropecé y caí;
Porque tuve envidia de los arrogantes, *
al ver la prosperidad de los malvados;

¿Hay conocimiento en el Altísimo?"
Así pues son los malvados; *
siempre seguros, acumulan riquezas.
En vano he limpiado mi corazón, *

Allí me verán.»

Palabra del Señor.

Demos gracias a Dios.

Cántico de Simeón Nunc dimittis
San Lucas 2:29-32

Ahora despides, Señor, a tu siervo, *

a fin de ofrecerte nuestras súplicas en común;
nuestros deseos y peticiones como mejor nos convenga;

Demos gracias a Dios.

Thursday - Evensong Invitation

Grace to you and peace from God our Fa-ther
and from/the Lord Je-sus Christ.
Wor-ship the Lord in/the beau-ty of his holi-ness;
let the whole earth trem-ble be-fore him.

Let my prayer be set forth in your sight as in-cense,
the lifting up of my hands as the eve-ning sacri-fice.
I will bless the Lord who gives me coun-sel;
my heart teaches me, night after night.

I have set the Lord al-ways be-fore me;
be-cause he is at my right hand, I shall not fall.
O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

O Gracious Light

O gracious Light,
pure brightness of the
everliving Father in heaven.
O Jesus, Christ, holy and blessed!

Now as we come to the setting of the sun,
and our eyes behold the vesper light,
we sing your praises, O God:
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

You are worthy at all times
to be praised by happy voices,
O Son of God, O Giver of life,
and to be glorified through all the worlds.

Psalm 74 Ut quid, Deus?

1 O God, why have you utterly cast us off? *
why is your wrath so hot against the sheep of your pasture?
2 Remember your congregation that you purchased long ago, *
the tribe you redeemed to be your inheritance, and Mount Zion where you dwell.
3 Turn your steps toward the endless ruins; *
the enemy has laid waste everything in your sanctuary.
4 Your adversaries roared in your holy place; *
they set up their banners as tokens of victory.
5 They were like men coming up with axes to a grove of trees; *
they broke down all your carved work with hatchets and hammers.

6 They set fire to your holy place; *
they defiled the dwelling-place of your Name and razed it to the ground.
7 They said to themselves, "Let us destroy them altogether." *
They burned down all the meeting-places of God in the land.
8 There are no signs for us to see; there is no prophet left; *
there is not one among us who knows how long.
9 How long, O God, will the adversary scoff? *
will the enemy blaspheme your Name for ever?
10 Why do you draw back your hand? *
why is your right hand hidden in your bosom?

11 Yet God is my King from ancient times, *
victorious in the midst of the earth.
12 You divided the sea by your might *
and shattered the heads of the dragons upon the waters;
13 You crushed the heads of Leviathan *
and gave him to the people of the desert for food.
14 You split open spring and torrent; *
you dried up ever-flowing rivers.
15 Yours is the day, yours also the night; *
you established the moon and the sun.

16 You fixed all the boundaries of the earth; *
you made both summer and winter.
17 Remember, O Lord, how the enemy scoffed, *
how a foolish people despised your Name.
18 Do not hand over the life of your dove to wild beasts; *
never forget the lives of your poor.
19 Look upon your covenant; *
the dark places of the earth are haunts of violence.
20 Let not the oppressed turn away ashamed; *
let the poor and needy praise your Name.

21 Arise, O God, maintain your cause; *
remember how fools revile you all day long.
22 Forget not the clamor of your adversaries, *
the unending tumult of those who rise up against you.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

The Gospel according to Matthew 27:55-66

55 Many women were also there, looking on from a distance; they had followed Jesus from Galilee and had provided for him. 56 Among them were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.

57 When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who was also a disciple of Jesus. 58 He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus; then Pilate ordered it to be given to him. 59 So Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth 60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn in the rock. He then rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb and went away. 61 Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were there, sitting opposite the tomb.

62 The next day, that is, after the day of Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate 63 and said, "Sir, we remember what that impostor said while he was still alive, "After three days I will rise again.'64 Therefore command the tomb to be made secure until the third day; otherwise his disciples may go and steal him away, and tell the people, "He has been raised from the dead,' and the last deception would be worse than the first." 65 Pilate said to them, "You have a guard of soldiers; go, make it as secure as you can." 66 So they went with the guard and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone.

The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

Almighty God, whose blessed Son our Savior Jesus Christ ascended far above all heavens that he might fill all things: Mercifully give us faith to perceive that, according to his promise, he abides with his Church on earth, even to the end of the ages; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting.

Amen.

A Collect for Guidance

Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Prayer for Mission

O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you; bring the nations into your fold; pour out your Spirit upon all flesh; and hasten the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Psalm 68: 1-20; 24-36 Exsurgat Deus

1Let God arise, and let his enemies be scattered; *
let those who hate him flee before him.
2Let them vanish like smoke when the wind drives it away; *
as the wax melts at the fire, so let the wicked perish at
the presence of God.
3But let the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; *
let them also be merry and joyful.

4Sing to God, sing praises to his Name;
exalt him who rides upon the heavens; *
YAHWEH is his Name, rejoice before him!
5Father of orphans, defender of widows, *
God in his holy habitation!
6God gives the solitary a home and brings forth prisoners
into freedom; *
but the rebels shall live in dry places.

7O God, when you went forth before your people, *
when you marched through the wilderness,
8The earth shook, and the skies poured down rain,
at the presence of God, the God of Sinai, *
at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
9You sent a gracious rain, O God, upon your inheritance; *
you refreshed the land when it was weary.

10Your people found their home in it; *
in your goodness, O God, you have made provision
for the poor.
11The Lord gave the word; *
great was the company of women who bore the tidings:
12"Kings with their armies are fleeing away; *
the women at home are dividing the spoils."

13Though you lingered among the sheepfolds, *
you shall be like a dove whose wings are covered with silver,
whose feathers are like green gold.
14When the Almighty scattered kings, *
it was like snow falling in Zalmon.
15O mighty mountain, O hill of Bashan! *
O rugged mountain, O hill of Bashan!

16Why do you look with envy, O rugged mountain,
at the hill which God chose for his resting place? *
truly, the Lord will dwell there for ever.
17The chariots of God are twenty thousand,
even thousands of thousands; *
the Lord comes in holiness from Sinai.
18You have gone up on high and led captivity captive;
you have received gifts even from your enemies, *
that the Lord God might dwell among them.

19Blessed be the Lord day by day, *
the God of our salvation, who bears our burdens.
20He is our God, the God of our salvation; *
God is the Lord, by whom we escape death.

24They see your procession, O God, *
your procession into the sanctuary, my God and my King.
25The singers go before, musicians follow after, *
in the midst of maidens playing upon the hand-drums.
26Bless God in the congregation; *
bless the Lord, you that are of the fountain of Israel.

27There is Benjamin, least of the tribes, at the head;
the princes of Judah in a company; *
and the princes of Zebulon and Naphtali.
28Send forth your strength, O God; *
establish, O God, what you have wrought for us.
29Kings shall bring gifts to you, *
for your temple's sake at Jerusalem.

30Rebuke the wild beast of the reeds, *
and the peoples, a herd of wild bulls with its calves.
31Trample down those who lust after silver; *
scatter the peoples that delight in war.
32Let tribute be brought out of Egypt; *
let Ethiopia stretch out her hands to God.
33Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth; *
sing praises to the Lord.

34He rides in the heavens, the ancient heavens; *
he sends forth his voice, his mighty voice.
35Ascribe power to God; *
his majesty is over Israel;
his strength is in the skies.
36How wonderful is God in his holy places! *
the God of Israel giving strength and power to his people!
Blessed be God!

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

The Gospel according to Matthew 27:32-44

32As they went out, they came upon a man from Cyrene named Simon; they compelled this man to carry his cross.

33And when they came to a place called Golgotha (which means Place of a Skull),34they offered him wine to drink, mixed with gall; but when he tasted it, he would not drink it. 35And when they had crucified him, they divided his clothes among themselves by casting lots;36then they sat down there and kept watch over him. 37Over his head they put the charge against him, which read, "This is Jesus, the King of the Jews."

38Then two bandits were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left. 39Those who passed by derided him, shaking their heads40and saying, "You who would destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross." 41In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes and elders, were mocking him, saying,42"He saved others; he cannot save himself. He is the King of Israel; let him come down from the cross now, and we will believe in him. 43He trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he wants to; for he said, "I am God's Son.'" 44The bandits who were crucified with him also taunted him in the same way.

The Word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God.

The Song of Mary        Luke 1:46-55        Magnificat
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior;*
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:*
the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him*
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,*
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,*
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,*
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel,*
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
The promise he made to our fathers,*
to Abraham and his children for ever.

LEVAS2 Hymn 264 - Our Father

Piano    Parts    Soprano    Alto    Tenor    Bass

The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Let us pray.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

That this evening may be holy, good, and peace-ful,
We en-treat you, O Lord.
That your holy angels may lead us in paths of peace and good-will,
We en-treat you, O Lord.

That we may be pardoned and for-given for our sins and of-fens-es,
We en-treat you, O Lord.
That there may be peace to your Church and to/the whole world,
We en-treat you, O Lord.

That we may de-part this life in your faith and fear,
and be freed from condem-na-tion
be-fore the great judgment seat of Christ,
We en-treat you, O Lord.

That we may be bound to-gether by your Holy Spi-rit
in the com-munion of Barna-bas and all your saints,
en-trust-ing one/an-other and all our life to Christ,
We en-treat you, O Lord.

Collect of the Day

Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ in his earthly life shared our toil and hallowed our labor: Be present with your people where they work; make those who carry on the industries and commerce of this land responsive to your will; and give to us all a pride in what we do, and a just return for our labor; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

Amen.

A Collect for Aid against Perils

Be our light in the darkness, O Lord, and in your great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night; for the love of your only Son, our Savior Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Prayer for Mission

O God and Father of all, whom the whole heavens adore: Let the whole earth also worship you, all nations obey you, all tongues confess and bless you, and men and women everywhere love you and serve you in peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

A Prayer of Saint Chrysostom

Al-might-y God,
you have given us grace at this time
with one ac-cord
to make our common suppli-cation to you;

and you have prom-ised
through your well be-loved Son
that when two/or three are gathered in his Name
you will be in/the midst of them:

Ful-fill now, O Lord, our de-sires and pe-ti-tions
as may be best for us;
granting us in this world knowledge of your truth,
and in/the age to come life ever-lasting. A-men.
