Hymnal 1982 - H-380 - Doxology

Recordings: Piano    Parts     Soprano     Alto     Tenor     Bass

{Before the Gospel}

1 From all that dwell below the skies
let the Creator’s praise arise!
Let the Redeemer’s Name be sung
through every land, by every tongue!

2 Eternal are thy mercies, Lord,
and truth eternal is thy word:
thy praise shall sound from shore to shore
till suns shall rise and set no more.

{Last verse after the gospel}

3 Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
praise him, all creatures here below;
praise him above, ye heavenly host:
praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

The Nicene Creed (when sung: Hymnal 1982 – S105)

Recordings:      Accompaniment     Voices

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of his Father.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried;

On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory,
to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, and giver of Life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son
he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

L-077 - Jesus is all the world to me

Piano    TUTTI    Soprano    Alto    Tenor    Bass

1 Jesus is all the world to me,
My life, my joy, my all;
He is my strength from day to day,
Without Him I would fall:
When I am sad, to Him I go.
No other one can cheer me so;
When I am sad He makes me glad,
He’s my friend.

2 Jesus is all the world to me,
My friend in trials sore;
I go to Him for blessings, and
He gives them o’er and o’er;
He sends the sunshine and the rain.
He sends the harvest’s golden grain.
Sunshine and rain, harvest of grain,
He’s my friend.

3 Jesus is all the world to me,
And true to Him I’ll be;
Oh, how could I this friend deny,
When He’s so true to me?
Following Him I know I’m right.
He watches o’er me day and night;
Following Him by day and night,
He’s my friend.

4 Jesus is all the world to me,
I want no better friend;
I trust Him now, I’ll trust Him when
Life’s fleeting days shall end:
Beautiful life with such a friend.
Beautiful life that has no end;
Eternal life, eternal joy,
He’s my friend.

L-109 - What a friend we have in Jesus

Piano     Parts    Soprano    Alto    Tenor    Bass
1 What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Ev’rything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Ev’rything to God in prayer!
2 Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our ev’ry weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
3 Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge,
Take it to the Lord in Prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in Prayer.
In his arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.

Psalm 22

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

My God, my God, why have you for-saken me?
and are so far from my cry and from//the words of my dis-tress?
O my God, I cry in/the day time, but you do not an-swer;
by night as well, but I find no rest.

Yet you are the Holy One,
en-throned up-on the praises of Isra-el.
Our fore-fathers put their trust in you;
they trusted, and you de-livered them.

They cried out to you and were de-liv-ered;
they trusted in you and were not put to shame.
But as for me, I am/a worm and no man,
scorned by all and de-spised by the peo-ple.

All who see me laugh me to scorn;
they curl their lips and wag their heads, say-ing,
"He trusted in the LORD; let him de-liver him;
let him rescue him, if he de-lights in him."

Yet you are he who took me out of/the womb,
and kept me safe up-on my mother's breast.
I have been en-trusted to you ever since I was born;
you were my God when I was still in my mother's womb.

Be not far from me, for trouble is near,
and there is none to help.
Many young bulls en-circle me;
strong bulls of Ba-shan sur-round me.

They open wide their jaws at me,
like a raven-ing and a roaring lion.
I am poured out like water; all my bones are out of joint;
my heart with-in my breast is melting wax.

My mouth is dried out like/a pot-sherd;
my tongue sticks to/the roof of my mouth;
and you have laid me in/the dust of/the grave.
Packs of dogs close me in,

And gangs of evil doers circle a-round me;
They pierce my hands and my feet;
I can count all my bones.
They stare and gloat over me;

They di-vide my garments a-mong them;
they cast lots for my cloth-ing.
Be not far a-way, O LORD;
you are my strength; hasten to help me.

Save me from the sword,
my life from the power of the dog.
Save me from the lion's mouth,
my wretch-ed body from the horns of wild bulls.

I will de-clare your Name to my breth-ren;
in/the midst of/the congre-gation I will praise you.
Praise the LORD, you that fear him;
stand in awe of him, O off-spring of Isra-el; all you of Jacob's line, give glo-ry.

For he does not de-spise
nor ab-hor the poor in their pover-ty;
neither does he hide his face from them;
but when they cry to him he hears them.

My praise is of him in/the great as-sem-bly;
I will per-form my vows in the presence of those who worship him.
The poor shall eat and be satis-fied,
and those who seek the LORD shall praise him:

"May your heart live for ev-er!"
All/the ends of/the earth shall re-mem-ber
and turn to/the LORD,
and all the fami-lies of the nations bow be-fore him.

For king-ship be-longs to/the LORD;
he rules over the na-tions.
To him a-lone all who sleep in/the earth bow down in wor-ship;
all who go down to/the dust fall be-fore him.

My soul shall live for him; my de-scendants shall serve him;
they shall be known as/the Lord's for ev-er.
They shall come and make known to/a people yet un-born
the saving deeds that he has done.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.
