Wednesday - Easter Invitation

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Alle-lu-ia! Christ is ris-en.
The Lord is risen in-deed. Alle-lu-ia!
O give thanks to/the Lord, and call up-on his Name;
make known his deeds a-mong the peo-ples.

Thus says the high and lofty One
who in-habits e-terni-ty,
whose name is Ho-ly,
I dwell in/the high and holy place

and al-so with/the one who has a con-trite and hum-ble spi-rit,
to re-vive the spirit of/the hum-ble and the heart of/the con-trite.
Lord, o-pen our lips.
And our mouth shall pro-claim your praise.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Wednesday - Christ Our Passover

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Alle-lu-ia! Christ our Pass-over has been sacri-ficed for us;
there-fore let us keep the feast,
Not with old leaven, the leaven of mal-ice and e-vil,
but with/the un-leavened bread of sin-ceri-ty and truth. Alle-lu-ia!

Christ being raised from/the dead will never die a-gain;
death no longer has do-minion over him.
The death he died, he died to sin, once for all;
but the life he lives, he lives to God.

So al-so con-sider your-selves dead to sin,
and a-live to God in Je-sus Christ our Lord. Alle-lu-ia!
Christ has been raised from/the dead,
the first fruits of those who have fallen a-sleep.

For since by a man came death,
by a man has come al-so the resur-rec-tion of/the dead.
For as in A-dam all die,
so in Christ shall all be made a-live. Alle-lu-ia!

Psalms

Psalm 38

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

O Lord, don't con-tinue to re-buke/me in your an-ger!
Don't con-tinue to punish me in your raging fu-ry!
For your arrows pierce me,
and your hand presses me down.

My whole body is sick
be-cause of your judg-ment;
I am/de-prived of health be-cause/of my sin.
For my sins over-whelm me;

like a heavy load,
they are too much for me/to bear.
My wounds are in-fected and starting to smell,
be-cause/of my fool-ish sins.

I am dazed and com-pletely hu-mili-at-ed;
all day long I walk/a-round mourn-ing.
For I am over-come with shame
and my whole body is sick.

I am numb with pain
and se-vere-ly bat-tered;
I groan loud-ly
be-cause of/the anx-ie-ty I feel.

O Lord, you under-stand my heart's de-sire;
my groaning is not hidden from you.
My heart beats so quick-ly;
my strength leaves me; I can hardly see.

Be-cause/of my con-di-tion,
even my friends and ac-quaintan-ces
keep their dis-tance;
my neighbors stand far a-way.

Those who seek my life try/to en-trap me;
those who want/to harm me speak de-structive words;
all day long they say/de-ceitful things.
But I am like/a deaf man I hear noth-ing;

I am like/a mute who cannot speak.
I am like/a man who cannot hear
and is/in-capa-ble of argu-ing his de-fense.
Yet I wait for you, O Lord!

You will re-spond, O Lord, my God!
I have prayed for de-liver-ance,
be-cause other-wise they will gloat over me;
when my foot slips they will arro-gantly taunt me.

For I am/a-bout to stum-ble,
and I am/in con-stant pain.
Yes, I con-fess my wrong-do-ing,
and I am/con-cerned a-bout my sins.

But those/who are my ene-mies for no reason are numer-ous;
those/who hate me without cause out-number me.
They/re-pay me evil for/the good I have done;
though I have tried/to do good to them,

They hurl accu-sations at me.
Do not/a-bandon me, O Lord!
My God, do not/re-main far/a-way from me!
Hurry and help me, O Lord, my de-liver-er!

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Readings

A reading from Exodus 19:16-25

On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, as well as a thick cloud on the mountain, and a blast of a trumpet so loud that all the people who were in the camp trembled. Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God. They took their stand at the foot of the mountain. Now Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke, because the LORD had descended upon it in fire; the smoke went up like the smoke of a kiln, while the whole mountain shook violently. As the blast of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses would speak and God would answer him in thunder. When the LORD descended upon Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain, the LORD summoned Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go down and warn the people not to break through to the LORD to look; otherwise many of them will perish. Even the priests who approach the LORD must consecrate themselves or the LORD will break out against them." Moses said to the LORD, "The people are not permitted to come up to Mount Sinai; for you yourself warned us, saying, 'Set limits around the mountain and keep it holy.'" The LORD said to him, "Go down, and come up bringing Aaron with you; but do not let either the priests or the people break through to come up to the LORD; otherwise he will break out against them." So Moses went down to the people and told them.

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Wednesday - Glory to God

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Glory to God in/the high-est,
and peace to his people on earth.
Lord God, heaven-ly King,
al-might-y God and Fath-er,

We worship you, we give you thanks,
We praise you for your glo-ry.
Lord Je-sus Christ, only Son of/the Fath-er,
Lord God, _ Lamb of God,

You take/a-way the sin of/the world:
have mer-cy up-on us;
you are seated at/the right hand of/the Fath-er:
re-ceive _ our pray-er.

For you a-lone are/the Ho-ly One,
You a-lone are the Lord,
You a-lone are/the Most High, Je-sus Christ,
with/the Ho-ly Spi-rit, in/the glory of God the Fath-er.

A reading from Matthew 3:13-17

Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan, to be baptized by him. John would have prevented him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?" But Jesus answered him, "Let it be so now; for it is proper for us in this way to fulfill all righteousness." Then he consented. And when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened to him and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased."

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Wednesday - Second Song of Isaiah

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Seek/the Lord while he wills to/be found;
call/up-on him when he draws near.
Let/the wicked for-sake their ways
and the evil ones their thoughts;

And let them turn to/the Lord,
and he will have com-pas-sion,
Let them/re-turn/to our God,
for he will richly par-don.

For my thoughts are/not your thoughts,
nor your ways my ways, says/the Lord.
For as/the heavens are higher than the earth,
so/are my ways higher than your ways,

and my thoughts than your thoughts.
For/as rain and snow fall from/the heav-ens
and re-turn not/a-gain,
but wat-er the whole earth,

Bring-ing forth life
and giving a-bun-dant growth
And seed for re-plan-ting
and bread/and fruit for eat-ing,

So/is my word that goes forth from my mouth;
it will not/re-turn/to me emp-ty;
But/it will ac-complish that which I have pur-posed,
and prosper in that for which I sent it.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Prayers

Wednesday Creed

We/be-lieve in God, the Father al-might-y,
cre-ator of heaven and earth.
We/be-lieve in Je-sus Christ,
his on-ly son, our Lord.

He was/con-ceived by/the power of/the Ho-ly Spi-rit
and born of/the Vir-gin Mar-y.
He suffered under Pon-tius Pi-late,
was cruci-fied, died, and was bur-ied.

He de-scended to/the dead.
On/the third day he rose a-gain.
He a-scended into heav-en,
and is seated at/the right hand of/the Fath-er.

He will come a-gain
to judge the living and the dead.
We/be-lieve in/the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
the _ holy catho-lic Church,

the com-munion of saints,
the for-give-ness of sins,
the resur-rec-tion of/the bod-y,
and the life ever-lasting. A-men.

The Lord be with you.
And al-so with _ you.
Our Father in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.

Your king-dom come,
your will be done on earth
as/it is in heav-en.
Give us to-day our daily bread.

For-give us our sins
as we _ for-give those
who sin a-gainst us.
Save us from/the time of tri-al

De-liver us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the power,
and the glory are yours,
now and for-ever A-men.

Wednesday - Morning Suffrages A

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Show us your mercy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.
Clothe your minis-ters with righteous-ness;
Let your people sing with joy.

Give peace, O Lord, in all the world;
For only in you can we live in safe-ty.
Lord, keep this nation under your care;
And guide us in/the way of justice and truth.

Let your way be known up-on earth;
Your saving health a-mong all na-tions.
Let not the needy, O Lord, be/for-got-ten;
Nor the hope of/the poor be taken a-way.

Cre-ate in us clean hearts, O God;
And sus-tain us with your Holy Spi-rit.
Show us your mercy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.

Collect of the Day

Almighty God, the giver of all good gifts, in your divine providence you have appointed various orders in your Church: Give your grace, we humbly pray, to all who are [now] called to any office and ministry for your people; and so fill them with the truth of your doctrine and clothe them with holiness of life, that they may faithfully serve before you, to the glory of your great Name and for the benefit of your holy Church; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

Amen.

A Collect for Grace

O Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought us in safety to this new day: Preserve us with your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin, nor be overcome by adversity; and in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Prayer for Mission

Almighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of your faithful people is governed and sanctified: Receive our supplications and prayers which we offer before you for all members of your holy Church, that in their vocation and ministry they may truly and devoutly serve you; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Al-mighty God, Father of all mer-cies,
we your un-worthy servants give you hum-ble thanks
for all your goodness and loving kind-ness
to us and/to all whom you have made.

We bless you for our cre-ation, preser-va-tion,
and all the blessings of this life;
but/a-bove all for your im-measur-able love
in/the re-demption of/the world by our Lord Je-sus Christ;

for/the means of grace, and for/the hope of glory.
And, we pray, give/us such/an a-ware-ness of your mer-cy,
that with truly thank-ful hearts
we may show forth your praise,

not only with our lips, but in our lives,
by giving up our-selves to your ser-vice,
and by walking be-fore you
in holi-ness and righteous-ness all our days;

through Je-sus Christ our Lord,
to whom, with you and the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
be hon-or and glo-ry
through-out all the ag-es. A-men.
