Tuesday - Easter Invitation

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Alle-lu-ia! Christ is ris-en.
The Lord is risen in-deed. Alle-lu-ia!
O give thanks to/the Lord, and call up-on his Name;
make known his deeds a-mong the peo-ples.

Thus says the high and lofty One
who in-habits e-terni-ty,
whose name is Ho-ly,
I dwell in/the high and holy place

and al-so with/the one who has a con-trite and hum-ble spi-rit,
to re-vive the spirit of/the hum-ble and the heart of/the con-trite.
Lord, o-pen our lips.
And our mouth shall pro-claim your praise.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Tuesday - Christ Our Passover

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Alle-lu-ia! Christ our Pass-over has been sacri-ficed for us;
there-fore let us keep the feast,
Not with old leaven, the leaven of mal-ice and e-vil,
but with/the un-leavened bread of sin-ceri-ty and truth. Alle-lu-ia!

Christ being raised from/the dead will never die a-gain;
death no longer has do-minion over him.
The death he died, he died to sin, once for all;
but the life he lives, he lives to God.

So al-so con-sider your-selves dead to sin,
and a-live to God in Je-sus Christ our Lord. Alle-lu-ia!
Christ has been raised from/the dead,
the first fruits of those who have fallen a-sleep.

For since by a man came death,
by a man has come al-so the resur-rec-tion of/the dead.
For as in A-dam all die,
so in Christ shall all be made a-live. Alle-lu-ia!

Psalms

Psalm 45

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

My heart is stirred by/a beauti-ful song.
I say, I have com-posed this special song for/the king;
my tongue is as skilled as the stylus of/an ex-peri-enced scribe.
You are the most handsome of all men!

You speak in an im-pressive and fitting man-ner!
For this reason God grants you con-tinual bles-sing.
Strap your sword to your thigh, O war-ri-or!
Ap-pear in your ma-jestic splen-dor!

Ap-pear in your majes-ty and be vic-tori-ous!
Ride forth for/the sake of what/is right,
on be-half of jus-tice!
Then your right hand will ac-complish mighty acts!

Your arrows are sharp
and pene-trate the hearts of/the king's ene-mies.
Na-tions fall at your feet.
Your throne, O God, is per-ma-nent.

The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of jus-tice.
You love jus-tice and hate e-vil.
For this reason God, your God,
has a-nointed you with/the oil of joy,

ele-vating you a-bove your com-pan-ions.
All your garments are per-fumed with myrrh, al-oes, and cas-si-a.
From the lux-u-rious pal-aces comes the music of stringed instru-ments.
Princess-es are a-mong your hon-ored women,

Your bride stands be-side you wearing jewel-ry of gold from O-phir.
Lis-ten, O princess! Ob-serve and pay at-ten-tion!
For-get your home-land and your fam-i-ly!
Then the king will be at-tracted by your beau-ty.

After all, he is your master! Sub-mit to him!
Rich people from Tyre seek your favor by bringing a gift.
The princess looks abso-lutely mag-nifi-cent,
Decked out in pearls and grace-fully clothed

In a bro-cade trimmed with gold.
In em-broidered robes she is es-corted to/the king.
Her at-tendants, the maidens of honor, are led be-fore you.
They are full of joy as they walk in pro-cession into the pal-ace.

Your sons will carry on/the dynas-ty of your ances-tors;
you will make them princes through-out the land.
I will pro-claim your greatness through the coming years,
Then the nations will praise you for-ev-er.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Readings

A reading from Exodus 32:21-34

Moses said to Aaron, "What did this people do to you that you have brought so great a sin upon them?" And Aaron said, "Do not let the anger of my lord burn hot; you know the people, that they are bent on evil. They said to me, 'Make us gods, who shall go before us; as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.' So I said to them, 'Whoever has gold, take it off'; so they gave it to me, and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf!" When Moses saw that the people were running wild (for Aaron had let them run wild, to the derision of their enemies), then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, "Who is on the Lord's side? Come to me!" And all the sons of Levi gathered around him. He said to them, "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, 'Put your sword on your side, each of you! Go back and forth from gate to gate throughout the camp, and each of you kill your brother, your friend, and your neighbor.'" The sons of Levi did as Moses commanded, and about three thousand of the people fell on that day. Moses said, "Today you have ordained yourselves for the service of the LORD, each one at the cost of a son or a brother, and so have brought a blessing on yourselves this day."

On the next day Moses said to the people, "You have sinned a great sin. But now I will go up to the LORD; perhaps I can make atonement for your sin." So Moses returned to the LORD and said, "Alas, this people has sinned a great sin; they have made for themselves gods of gold. But now, if you will only forgive their sin—but if not, blot me out of the book that you have written." But the LORD said to Moses, "Whoever has sinned against me I will blot out of my book. But now go, lead the people to the place about which I have spoken to you; see, my angel shall go in front of you. Nevertheless, when the day comes for punishment, I will punish them for their sin."

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Tuesday - Third Song of Isaiah

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

A-rise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of/the Lord has dawned up-on you.
For/be-hold, darkness covers the land;
deep gloom en-shrouds the peo-ples.

But over you the Lord will rise,
and his glory will/ap-pear up-on you.
Nations will stream to your light,
and kings to/the brightness of your dawn-ing.

Your gates will always be o-pen;
by day or night they will never be shut.
They will call you, The City of/the Lord,
The Zion of/the Holy One of Is-ra-el.

Vio-lence will/no more be heard in your land,
ruin or de-struction with-in your bor-ders.
You will call your walls, Sal-va-tion,
and all your por-tals, Praise.

The sun will/no more be your light by day;
by night you will/not need the brightness of/the moon.
The Lord will be your ever-last-ing light,
and your God will be your glo-ry.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for ever. A-men.

A reading from Matthew 5:11-16

"Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

"You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot. "You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Tuesday - You are God

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

You are God: we praise you;
You are the Lord; we/ac-claim you;
You are the e-ternal Fath-er:
All cre-ation wor-ships you.

To you all angels, all the powers of heav-en,
Cheru-bim and Sera-phim, sing in endless praise:
Holy, ho-ly, holy Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full/of your glo-ry.

The glori-ous compan-y of/a-postles praises you.
The noble fellow-ship of prophets praises you.
The white-robed army of martyrs praises you.
Through-out/the world the holy Church ac-claims you;

Father, of majes-ty un-bound-ed,
your true and on-ly Son,
worthy of all wor-ship,
and the Holy Spirit, advo-cate and guide.

You, Christ, are/the king of glo-ry,
the e-ternal Son of/the Fath-er.
When you be-came man/to set us free
you did not shun the Virgin's womb.

You over-came the sting of death
and opened the kingdom of heaven to all be-liev-ers.
You are seated at God's right hand in glo-ry.
We/be-lieve that you will come and be our judge.

Come then, Lord, and help your peo-ple,
bought with/the price of your own blood,
and bring us with all your saints
to glory ever-lasting. A-men.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

We/be-lieve in God, the Father al-might-y,
cre-ator of heaven and earth.
We/be-lieve in Je-sus Christ,
his on-ly son, our Lord.

He was/con-ceived by/the power of/the Ho-ly Spi-rit
and born of/the Vir-gin Mar-y.
He suffered under Pon-tius Pi-late,
was cruci-fied, died, and was bur-ied.

He de-scended to/the dead.
On/the third day he rose a-gain.
He a-scended into heav-en,
and is seated at/the right hand of/the Fath-er.

He will come a-gain
to judge the living and the dead.
We/be-lieve in/the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
the _ holy catho-lic Church,

the com-munion of saints,
the for-give-ness of sins,
the resur-rec-tion of/the bod-y,
and the life ever-lasting. A-men.

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

The Lord be with you.
And al-so with _ you.
Our Father in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.

Your king-dom come,
your will be done on earth
as/it is in heav-en.
Give us to-day our daily bread.

For-give us our sins
as we _ for-give those
who sin a-gainst us.
Save us from/the time of tri-al

De-liver us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the power,
and the glory are yours,
now and for-ever A-men.

Tuesday - Morning Suffrages A

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Show us your mercy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.
Clothe your minis-ters with righteous-ness;
Let your people sing with joy.

Give peace, O Lord, in all the world;
For only in you can we live in safe-ty.
Lord, keep this nation under your care;
And guide us in/the way of justice and truth.

Let your way be known up-on earth;
Your saving health a-mong all na-tions.
Let not the needy, O Lord, be/for-got-ten;
Nor the hope of/the poor be taken a-way.

Cre-ate in us clean hearts, O God;
And sus-tain us with your Holy Spi-rit.
Show us your mercy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.

Collect of the Day

Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ in his earthly life shared our toil and hallowed our labor: Be present with your people where they work; make those who carry on the industries and commerce of this land responsive to your will; and give to us all a pride in what we do, and a just return for our labor; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Amen.

A Collect for Peace

O God, the author of peace and lover of concord, to know you is eternal life and to serve you is perfect freedom: Defend us, your humble servants, in all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in your defense, may not fear the power of any adversaries; through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Prayer for Mission

Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hard wood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name.

Amen.

General Thanksgiving

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Al-mighty God, Father of all mer-cies,
we your un-worthy servants give you hum-ble thanks
for all your goodness and loving kind-ness
to us and/to all whom you have made.

We bless you for our cre-ation, preser-va-tion,
and all the blessings of this life;
but/a-bove all for your im-measur-able love
in/the re-demption of/the world by our Lord Je-sus Christ;

for/the means of grace, and for/the hope of glory.
And, we pray, give/us such/an a-ware-ness of your mer-cy,
that with truly thank-ful hearts
we may show forth your praise,

not only with our lips, but in our lives,
by giving up our-selves to your ser-vice,
and by walking be-fore you
in holi-ness and righteous-ness all our days;

through Je-sus Christ our Lord,
to whom, with you and the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
be hon-or and glo-ry
through-out all the ag-es. A-men.
