Tuesday - Easter Invitation

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Alle-lu-ia! Christ is ris-en.
The Lord is risen in-deed. Alle-lu-ia!
O give thanks to/the Lord, and call up-on his Name;
make known his deeds a-mong the peo-ples.

Thus says the high and lofty One
who in-habits e-terni-ty,
whose name is Ho-ly,
I dwell in/the high and holy place

and al-so with/the one who has a con-trite and hum-ble spi-rit,
to re-vive the spirit of/the hum-ble and the heart of/the con-trite.
Lord, o-pen our lips.
And our mouth shall pro-claim your praise.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Tuesday - Christ Our Passover

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Alle-lu-ia! Christ our Pass-over has been sacri-ficed for us;
there-fore let us keep the feast,
Not with old leaven, the leaven of mal-ice and e-vil,
but with/the un-leavened bread of sin-ceri-ty and truth. Alle-lu-ia!

Christ being raised from/the dead will never die a-gain;
death no longer has do-minion over him.
The death he died, he died to sin, once for all;
but the life he lives, he lives to God.

So al-so con-sider your-selves dead to sin,
and a-live to God in Je-sus Christ our Lord. Alle-lu-ia!
Christ has been raised from/the dead,
the first fruits of those who have fallen a-sleep.

For since by a man came death,
by a man has come al-so the resur-rec-tion of/the dead.
For as in A-dam all die,
so in Christ shall all be made a-live. Alle-lu-ia!

Psalms

Psalm 5

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

List-en to what I say, Lord!
Care-fully con-sider my com-plaint!
Pay at-tention to my cry for help,
O my king and my God,

For I am praying to you!
Lord, in/the morning you will hear me;
in the morning I will pre-sent my case to you
and then wait ex-pectant-ly for an an-swer.

Certain-ly you are not/a God who ap-proves of e-vil;
e-vil people cannot dwell with you.
Arro-gant people cannot stand in your pres-ence;
you hate all who be-have wick-ed-ly.

You de-stroy li-ars;
the Lord de-spises vio-lent and de-ceitful peo-ple.
But as for me, be-cause of your great faithful-ness
I will en-ter your house;

I will bow down
toward your holy tem-ple as/I wor-ship you.
Lord, lead me in your right-eous-ness
be-cause of those who wait to am-bush me,

Re-move the obsta-cles
in/the way in which you are guid-ing me!
For they do not speak the truth;
their stomachs are like the place of de-struc-tion,

their throats like an o-pen grave,
their tongues like a steep slope leading into it.
Con-demn them, O God!
May their own schemes be their down-fall!

Drive them a-way
be-cause of their many acts of insur-rec-tion,
for they have re-belled a-gainst you.
But may all who take shelter in you be hap-py!

May they con-tin-ual-ly shout for joy!
Shelter them so that those who are loyal to you may re-joice!
Certain-ly you re-ward the god-ly, Lord.
Like a shield you pro-tect them in your good fa-vor.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Psalm 6

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Lord, do not re-buke me in your an-ger!
Do not disci-pline me in your raging fu-ry!
Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am frail!
Heal me, Lord, for my bones are shak-ing!

I am abso-lute-ly terri-fied,
and you, Lord how long will this con-tin-ue?
Re-lent, Lord, res-cue me!
De-liver me be-cause of your faithful-ness!

For no one re-members you
who a-bides in/the realm of death,
In She-ol who gives you thanks?
I am ex-hausted as I groan;

All night long I drench my bed in tears;
my tears satu-rate the cushion be-neath me.
My eyes grow dim from suffer-ing;
they grow weak be-cause/of all my ene-mies.

Turn back from me, all you who be-have wicked-ly,
for the Lord has heard the sound of my weep-ing!
The Lord has heard my/ap-peal for mer-cy;
the Lord has ac-cepted my prayer.

They will be hu-mili-at-ed
and abso-lute-ly terri-fied!
All my ene-mies
will turn back and be sudden-ly hu-mili-at-ed!

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Readings

A reading from Exodus 15:1-21

Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the LORD: "I will sing to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously; horse and rider he has thrown into the sea. The LORD is my strength and my might, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him. The LORD is a warrior; the LORD is his name. "Pharaoh's chariots and his army he cast into the sea; his picked officers were sunk in the Red Sea. The floods covered them; they went down into the depths like a stone. Your right hand, O LORD, glorious in power— your right hand, O LORD, shattered the enemy. In the greatness of your majesty you overthrew your adversaries; you sent out your fury, it consumed them like stubble. At the blast of your nostrils the waters piled up, the floods stood up in a heap; the deeps congealed in the heart of the sea. The enemy said, 'I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil, my desire shall have its fill of them. I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.' You blew with your wind, the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty waters. "Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in splendor, doing wonders? You stretched out your right hand, the earth swallowed them. "In your steadfast love you led the people whom you redeemed; you guided them by your strength to your holy abode. The peoples heard, they trembled; pangs seized the inhabitants of Philistia. Then the chiefs of Edom were dismayed; trembling seized the leaders of Moab; all the inhabitants of Canaan melted away. Terror and dread fell upon them; by the might of your arm, they became still as a stone until your people, O LORD, passed by, until the people whom you acquired passed by. You brought them in and planted them on the mountain of your own possession, the place, O LORD, that you made your abode, the sanctuary, O LORD, that your hands have established. The LORD will reign forever and ever." When the horses of Pharaoh with his chariots and his chariot drivers went into the sea, the LORD brought back the waters of the sea upon them; but the Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground. Then the prophet Miriam, Aaron's sister, took a tambourine in her hand; and all the women went out after her with tambourines and with dancing. And Miriam sang to them: "Sing to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously; horse and rider he has thrown into the sea."

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Tuesday - Song of Zechariah

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Isra-el;
he has come/to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty sav-ior,
born of/the house of his servant Da-vid.

Through his holy prophets he promised of old,
that he would save/us from our ene-mies,
from/the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fath-ers

and to re-member his holy cov-e-nant.
This was/the oath he swore to our father A-bra-ham,
to set us free from/the hands of our ene-mies,
Free to worship him without fear,

holy and righteous in his sight
all the days of our life.
And you, my child, shall be called
the proph-et of/the Most High,

for you will go/be-fore the Lord to/pre-pare his way,
To give his people knowledge of sal-va-tion
by the for-giveness of their sins.
In/the tender com-passion of our God

the dawn from/on high shall break up-on us,
To shine on those/who dwell in dark-ness
and in/the shadow of death,
and/to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

A reading from John 14:18-31

"I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you. In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me; because I live, you also will live. On that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them." Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, "Lord, how is it that you will reveal yourself to us, and not to the world?" Jesus answered him, "Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; and the word that you hear is not mine, but is from the Father who sent me.

"I have said these things to you while I am still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.

You heard me say to you, 'I am going away, and I am coming to you.' If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you this before it occurs, so that when it does occur, you may believe. I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over me; but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us be on our way.

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Tuesday - Song to the Lamb

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Splendor and honor and king-ly power
are yours by right, O Lord our God,
For you cre-ated every-thing that is,
and by your will they were cre-ated and have their be-ing;

And yours by right, O Lamb that was slain,
for with your blood you have re-deemed for God,
From eve-ry fami-ly, lan-guage, people, and na-tion,
a kingdom of priests to serve our God.

And so, to him who sits up-on/the throne,
and to Je-sus Christ the Lamb,
Be worship and praise, do-min-ion and splen-dor,
for-ever and for-ever-more.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

We/be-lieve in God, the Father al-might-y,

We/be-lieve in Je-sus Christ,
his on-ly son, our Lord.

He was/con-ceived by/the power of/the Ho-ly Spi-rit
and born of/the Vir-gin Mar-y.
He suffered under Pon-tius Pi-late,
was cruci-fied, died, and was bur-ied.

He de-scended to/the dead.
On/the third day he rose a-gain.
He a-scended into heav-en,
and is seated at/the right hand of/the Fath-er.

He will come a-gain
to judge the living and the dead.
We/be-lieve in/the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
the _ holy catho-lic Church,

the com-munion of saints,
the for-give-ness of sins,
the resur-rec-tion of/the bod-y,
and the life ever-lasting. A-men.

The Lord be with you.
And al-so with _ you.

Tuesday - Morning Suffrages A

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Show us your mercy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.
Clothe your minis-ters with righteous-ness;
Let your people sing with joy.

Give peace, O Lord, in all the world;
For only in you can we live in safe-ty.
Lord, keep this nation under your care;
And guide us in/the way of justice and truth.

Let your way be known up-on earth;
Your saving health a-mong all na-tions.
Let not the needy, O Lord, be/for-got-ten;
Nor the hope of/the poor be taken a-way.

Cre-ate in us clean hearts, O God;
And sus-tain us with your Holy Spi-rit.
Show us your mercy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.

Collect of the Day

Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ in his earthly life shared our toil and hallowed our labor: Be present with your people where they work; make those who carry on the industries and commerce of this land responsive to your will; and give to us all a pride in what we do, and a just return for our labor; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Amen.

A Collect for Peace

O God, the author of peace and lover of concord, to know you is eternal life and to serve you is perfect freedom: Defend us, your humble servants, in all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in your defense, may not fear the power of any adversaries; through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Prayer for Mission

Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hard wood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name.

Amen.

General Thanksgiving

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Al-mighty God, Father of all mer-cies,
we your un-worthy servants give you hum-ble thanks
for all your goodness and loving kind-ness
to us and/to all whom you have made.

We bless you for our cre-ation, preser-va-tion,
and all the blessings of this life;
but/a-bove all for your im-measur-able love
in/the re-demption of/the world by our Lord Je-sus Christ;

for/the means of grace, and for/the hope of glory.
And, we pray, give/us such/an a-ware-ness of your mer-cy,
that with truly thank-ful hearts
we may show forth your praise,

not only with our lips, but in our lives,
by giving up our-selves to your ser-vice,
and by walking be-fore you
in holi-ness and righteous-ness all our days;

through Je-sus Christ our Lord,
to whom, with you and the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
be hon-or and glo-ry
through-out all the ag-es. A-men.
