Grace to you and peace from God our Fa-ther
and from/the Lord Je-sus Christ.
Worship the Lord in/the beauty of his holi-ness;
let/the whole earth trem-ble be-fore him.
Let my prayer be set forth/in your sight as in-cense,
the lifting up/of my hands as/the evening sacri-fice.
I will bless the Lord who gives/me coun-sel;
my heart teaches me, night after night.
I have set/the Lord always be-fore me;
be-cause he is/at my right hand, I shall not fall.
O God, make speed/to save us.
O Lord, make haste/to help us.
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.
Thursday - O Gracious Light
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
O gracious light, pure bright-ness
of the ever-living Father in heav-en,
O Je-sus Christ, holy and bless-ed!
we sing your praises, O God!
Now as/we come to/the setting of/the sun,
and our eyes be-hold/the vesper light,
we sing your praises, O God:
Father, Son, and Ho-ly Spi-rit.
You are worthy at all times
to be praised by happy voic-es,
O Son of God, O Giver of life,
and/to be glori-fied through all the worlds.
Psalms
Psalm 114
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
When Isra-el left E-gypt,
when the fami-ly of Ja-cob left a foreign nation be-hind,
Ju-dah be-came his sanctu-ar-y,
and Isra-el be-came his king-dom.
The sea looked and fled;
the Jor-dan Riv-er turned back.
The mountains skipped like rams,
and the hills skipped like lambs.
Why do you flee, O sea?
Why do you turn back, O Jor-dan Riv-er?
Why do you skip like rams, O moun-tains,
Or you like lambs, O hills?
Trem-ble, O earth, be-fore the Lord
be-fore the God of Ja-cob,
who turned a rock into a pool of wat-er,
a hard rock into springs of wat-er!
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.
Psalm 115
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Not to us, O Lord, not to us!
But to your name bring hon-or,
for/the sake of your loyal love and faithful-ness.
Why should/the nations say, Where is their God?
Our God is in heav-en!
He does what-ever he pleas-es!
Their idols are made of silver and gold
All their idols are man-made.
They have mouths, but can-not speak,
They have eyes, but can-not see,
They have ears, but can-not hear,
They have noses, but can-not smell,
They have hands, but can-not touch,
They have feet,but can-not walk.
Of what use are they?
They can-not even clear their throats.
Those who make them will end up like them,
as will every-one who trusts in them.
O Isra-el, trust in/the Lord!
He is their de-liver-er and pro-tec-tor.
O fami-ly of Aa-ron, trust in/the Lord!
He is their de-liver-er and pro-tec-tor.
You loyal follow-ers of/the Lord, trust in/the Lord!
He is their de-liver-er and pro-tec-tor.
The Lord takes no-tice of us,
he will bless the fami-ly of Isra-el,
he will bless the fami-ly of Aa-ron.
He will bless his loyal follow-ers,
He will bless both young and old.
May he in-crease your num-bers,
yours and your chil-dren!
May you be blessed by/the Lord,
He is the Cre-ator of heaven and earth!
The heavens be-long to/the Lord,
but the earth he has given to man-kind.
The dead do not praise the Lord,
Nor do any of those who de-scend
into the si-lence of death.
But we will praise the Lord
now and for-ever-more. Praise the Lord!
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.
Readings
A reading from 1 Thessalonians 2:13-20
We also constantly give thanks to God for this, that when you received the word of God that you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word but as what it really is, God's word, which is also at work in you believers. For you, brothers and sisters, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus that are in Judea, for you suffered the same things from your own compatriots as they did from the Jews, who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out; they displease God and oppose everyone by hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. Thus they have constantly been filling up the measure of their sins; but God's wrath has overtaken them at last.
As for us, brothers and sisters, when, for a short time, we were made orphans by being separated from youin person, not in heartwe longed with great eagerness to see you face to face. For we wanted to come to youcertainly I, Paul, wanted to again and againbut Satan blocked our way. For what is our hope or joy or crown of boasting before our Lord Jesus at his coming? Is it not you? Yes, you are our glory and joy!
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!
Thursday - Song of the Redeemed
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
O ruler of/the uni-verse, Lord God,
great deeds are they that you have done,
sur-passing human under-stand-ing.
Your ways are ways of righteous-ness and truth,
O King of all the ag-es.
Who can fail to do you homage, Lord,
and sing the praises of your Name?
for you only are the Holy One.
All nations will draw near
and fall down be-fore you,
be-cause your just and holy works
have been re-vealed. Alle-lu-ia, a-men!
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.
A reading from Matthew 5:21-26
"You have heard that it was said to those of ancient times, 'You shall not murder'; and 'whoever murders shall be liable to judgment.' But I say to you that if you are angry with a brother or sister, you will be liable to judgment; and if you insult a brother or sister, you will be liable to the council; and if you say, 'You fool,' you will be liable to the hell of fire. So when you are offering your gift at the altar, if you remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother or sister, and then come and offer your gift. Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are on the way to court with him, or your accuser may hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you will be thrown into prison. Truly I tell you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny.
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!
Thursday - Song of Zechariah
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Isra-el;
he has come/to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty sav-ior,
born of/the house of his servant Da-vid.
Through his holy prophets he promised of old,
that he would save/us from our ene-mies,
from/the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fath-ers
and to re-member his holy cov-e-nant.
This was/the oath he swore to our father A-bra-ham,
to set us free from/the hands of our ene-mies,
Free to worship him without fear,
holy and righteous in his sight
all the days of our life.
And you, my child, shall be called
the proph-et of/the Most High,
for you will go/be-fore the Lord to/pre-pare his way,
To give his people knowledge of sal-va-tion
by the for-giveness of their sins.
In/the tender com-passion of our God
the dawn from/on high shall break up-on us,
To shine on those/who dwell in dark-ness
and in/the shadow of death,
and/to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Thursday Creed

We/be-lieve in God, the Father al-might-y,
cre-ator of heaven and earth.
We/be-lieve in Je-sus Christ,
his on-ly son, our Lord.
He was/con-ceived by/the power of/the Ho-ly Spi-rit
and born of/the Vir-gin Mar-y.
He suffered under Pon-tius Pi-late,
was cruci-fied, died, and was bur-ied.
He de-scended to/the dead.
On/the third day he rose a-gain.
He a-scended into heav-en,
and is seated at/the right hand of/the Fath-er.
He will come a-gain
to judge the living and the dead.
We/be-lieve in/the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
the _ holy catho-lic Church,
the com-munion of saints,
the for-give-ness of sins,
the resur-rec-tion of/the bod-y,
and the life ever-lasting. A-men.

Show us your mercy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.
Clothe your minis-ters with righteous-ness;
Let your people sing with joy.
Give peace, O Lord, in all the world;
For only in you can we live in safe-ty.
Lord, keep this nation under your care;
And guide us in/the way of justice and truth.
Let your way be known up-on earth;
Your saving health among all na-tions.
Let not the needy, O Lord, be for-got-ten;
Nor the hope of/the poor be taken a-way.
Cre-ate in us clean hearts, O God;
And sus-tain us by your Holy Spi-rit.
Show us your mercy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.
Collect of the Day
Almighty God, whose blessed Son our Savior Jesus Christ ascended far above all heavens that he might fill all things: Mercifully give us faith to perceive that, according to his promise, he abides with his Church on earth, even to the end of the ages; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting.
Amen.
A Collect for Guidance
Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Prayer for Mission
O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you; bring the nations into your fold; pour out your Spirit upon all flesh; and hasten the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
A Prayer of Saint Chrysostom
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Al-might-y God,
you have given us grace at this time
with one ac-cord
to make our common suppli-cation to you;
and you have prom-ised
through your well be-loved Son
that when two/or three are gathered in his Name
you will be in/the midst of them:
Ful-fill now, O Lord, our de-sires and pe-ti-tions
as may be best for us;
granting us in this world knowledge of your truth,
and in/the age to come life ever-lasting. A-men.
