May God bless us!
May God, our God, bless us!
Then all/the ends of/the earth
will give him the honor he de-serves.

May God show/us his favor and bless us!
May he smile up-on us!
Then those living on earth will know what you are like;
all nations will know how you de-liver your peo-ple.

Let foreign-ers re-joice and cele-brate!
For you exe-cute justice a-mong the na-tions,
O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Psalm 119:121-144

I do what is fair and right,
Do not a-bandon me to my op-pres-sors!
Guaran-tee the welfare of your serv-ant!
Do not let the arro-gant op-press me!

My eyes grow tired as/I wait for your de-liver-ance,
for your re-lia-ble promise to be ful-filled.
Show your servant your loyal love!
Teach me your statutes! I am your serv-ant.

Give me insight, so I can under-stand your rules.
It is time for/the Lord to act for they break your law!
For this reason I love your com-mands
more than gold, even purest gold.

For this reason I care-fully follow all your pre-cepts.
I hate all de-ceitful ac-tions.
Your rules are marvel-ous. Therefore I ob-serve them.
Your in-structions are a door-way through which light shines.

They give insight to/the un-trained.
I open my mouth and pant, be-cause I long for your com-mands.
Turn toward me and ex-tend mercy to me,
as you typi-cally do to your loyal follow-ers.

Di-rect my steps by your word!
Do not let any sin domi-nate me!
De-liver me from op-pressive men,
so I can keep your pre-cepts.

Smile on your serv-ant!
Teach me all your stat-utes!
Tears stream down from my eyes,
be-cause people do not keep your law.

You are just, O Lord,
and your judg-ments are fair.
The rules you im-pose are just,
they are abso-lutely re-lia-ble.

My zeal con-sumes me,
for my ene-mies for-get your in-struc-tions.
Your word is abso-lutely pure,
and your serv-ant loves it!

I am insig-nifi-cant and de-spised,
yet I do not for-get your pre-cepts.
Your justice en-dures for-ev-er,
and your law is re-lia-ble.

Dis-tress and hardship con-front me,
yet I find de-light in your com-mands.
Your rules re-main just.
Give me insight so I can live.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Readings

A reading from Matthew 5:21-26

"You have heard that it was said to those of ancient times, 'You shall not murder'; and 'whoever murders shall be liable to judgment.' But I say to you that if you are angry with a brother or sister, you will be liable to judgment; and if you insult a brother or sister, you will be liable to the council; and if you say, 'You fool,' you will be liable to the hell of fire. So when you are offering your gift at the altar, if you remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother or sister, and then come and offer your gift. Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are on the way to court with him, or your accuser may hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you will be thrown into prison. Truly I tell you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny.

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Thursday - Our Father

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

The Lord be with you.
And al-so with _ you.
Our Father in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.

Your king-dom come,
your will be done on earth
as/it is in heav-en.
Give us to-day our daily bread.

For-give us our sins
as we _ for-give those
who sin a-gainst us.
Save us from/the time of tri-al

De-liver us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the power,
and the glory are yours,
now and for-ever A-men.

Collect of the Day

Almighty Savior, who at noonday called your servant Saint Paul to be an apostle to the Gentiles: We pray you to illumine the world with the radiance of your glory, that all nations may come and worship you; for you live and reign for ever and ever.

Amen.

A Collect for Guidance

Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Prayer for Mission

O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you; bring the nations into your fold; pour out your Spirit upon all flesh; and hasten the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.
