Confession
Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you
in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done,
and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
have mercy on us and forgive us;
that we may delight in your will,
and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your Name.
Amen
May Almighty God have mercy on us,
forgive us all our sins
through our Lord Jesus Christ,
strengthen us in all goodness,
and by the power of the Holy Spirit
keep us in eternal life.
Amen
Thursday - Evensong Invitation
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Grace to you and peace from God our Fa-ther
and from/the Lord Je-sus Christ.
Worship the Lord in/the beauty of his holi-ness;
let/the whole earth trem-ble be-fore him.
Let my prayer be set forth/in your sight as in-cense,
the lifting up/of my hands as/the evening sacri-fice.
I will bless the Lord who gives/me coun-sel;
my heart teaches me, night after night.
I have set/the Lord always be-fore me;
be-cause he is/at my right hand, I shall not fall.
O God, make speed/to save us.
O Lord, make haste/to help us.
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.
O Gracious Light
O gracious Light,
pure brightness of the
everliving Father in heaven.
O Jesus, Christ, holy and blessed!
Now as we come to the setting of the sun,
and our eyes behold the vesper light,
we sing your praises, O God:
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
you are worthy at all times
to be praised by happy voices,
O Son of God, O Giver of life,
and to be glorified through all the worlds.
Psalm 74
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Why, O God, have you perma-nently re-jected us?
Why does your anger burn/a-gainst the sheep of your pas-ture?
Re-member your peo-ple
whom you ac-quired in an-cient times,
whom you res-cued
so they could be your very own na-tion,
as well as Mount Zi-on,
where you dwell for-ev-er!
Hurry to/the perma-nent ruin,
and to all the damage the ene-my has done to/the tem-ple!
Your ene-mies roar in/the middle of your sanctu-ar-y;
they set up their battle flags.
They in-vade like lumber-jacks
swinging their axes in a thick for-est.
And now they are tearing down all its en-grav-ings
with ax-es and crow-bars.
They set your sanctu-ary on fire;
they dese-crate your dwell-ing place
by knocking it to/the ground.
They say to them-selves, We will op-press all of them.
They burn down all the places
where people worship God in/the land.
We do not see any signs of God's pres-ence;
there are no longer any proph-ets
And we have no one
to tell us how long this will last.
How long, O God, will the adver-sary hurl in-sults?
Will the ene-my blas-pheme your name for-ev-er?
Why do you re-main in-ac-tive?
Inter-vene and de-stroy him!
But God has been my king from an-cient times,
per-forming acts of de-liver-ance on/the earth.
You de-stroyed the sea by your strength;
you shattered the heads of/the sea monster in/the wat-er.
You crushed the heads of Le-via-than;
you fed him to/the people who live a-long the coast.
You broke open the spring and the stream;
you dried up per-petual-ly flowing riv-ers.
You es-tablished the cycle of day and night;
you put the moon and sun in place.
You set up all the bounda-ries of/the earth;
you cre-ated the cycle of summer and win-ter.
Re-member how the ene-my hurls in-sults, O Lord,
and how a foolish nation blas-phemes your name!
Do not hand the life of your dove
over to a wild ani-mal!
Do not con-tinue to disre-gard the lives
of your op-pressed peo-ple!
Re-member your cove-nant prom-ise,
for the dark regions of/the earth
are full of places where vio-lence rules.
Do not let the af-flicted be turned back in shame!
Let the op-pressed and poor praise your name!
Rise up, O God! De-fend your hon-or!
Re-member how fools in-sult you all day long!
Do not disre-gard what your ene-mies say,
Nor the un-ceasing shouts
of those who de-fy you.
Rise up, O God!
De-fend your hon-or! A-men.
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for ever A-men.
Readings
A reading from 1 Corinthians 6:12-20
"All things are lawful for me," but not all things are beneficial. "All things are lawful for me," but I will not be dominated by anything. "Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food," and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is meant not for fornication but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. And God raised the Lord and will also raise us by his power.
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Should I therefore take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! Do you not know that whoever is united to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For it is said, "The two shall be one flesh." But anyone united to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. Shun fornication! Every sin that a person commits is outside the body; but the fornicator sins against the body itself. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!
Thursday - Song of Praise

Glory to you, Lord God of our fath-ers;
you are worthy of praise; glory to you.
Glory to you for/the radi-ance of your holy Name;
we will praise you and highly ex-alt you for ev-er.
Glory to you in/the splen-dor of your tem-ple;
on the throne of your maj-es-ty, glory to you.
Glory to you, seated be-tween the Cher-u-bim;
we will praise you and highly ex-alt you for ev-er.
Glory to you, be-hold-ing the depths;
in the high vault of heav-en, glory to you.
Glory to you, Fath-er, Son, and Ho-ly Spi-rit;
we will praise you and highly ex-alt you for ev-er.
A reading from Mark 4:21-34
He said to them, "Is a lamp brought in to be put under the bushel basket, or under the bed, and not on the lampstand? For there is nothing hidden, except to be disclosed; nor is anything secret, except to come to light. Let anyone with ears to hear listen!" And he said to them, "Pay attention to what you hear; the measure you give will be the measure you get, and still more will be given you. For to those who have, more will be given; and from those who have nothing, even what they have will be taken away."
He also said, "The kingdom of God is as if someone would scatter seed on the ground, and would sleep and rise night and day, and the seed would sprout and grow, he does not know how. The earth produces of itself, first the stalk, then the head, then the full grain in the head. But when the grain is ripe, at once he goes in with his sickle, because the harvest has come."
He also said, "With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable will we use for it? It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth; yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade."
With many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it; he did not speak to them except in parables, but he explained everything in private to his disciples.
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Lord, you now have set your servant free
to go/in peace as you have prom-ised;
For these eyes of mine have seen the Sav-ior,
whom you have pre-pared for all the world to see:
A Light to en-lighten the na-tions,
and the glory of your people Is-ra-el.
Lord, you now have set your servant free

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,

LEVAS2 Hymn 264 - Our Father
Piano Parts Soprano Alto Tenor Bass
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil:
for thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory, forever,
Amen.

in the com-munion of Barna-bas and all your saints,
en-trust-ing one/an-other and all our life to Christ,

Collect of the Day
Almighty God, whose blessed Son our Savior Jesus Christ ascended far above all heavens that he might fill all things: Mercifully give us faith to perceive that, according to his promise, he abides with his Church on earth, even to the end of the ages; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting.
Amen.
A Collect for Guidance
Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
We pray for peace and especially for the people of Ukraine, saying together,
Eternal God, in whose perfect kingdom no sword is drawn but the sword of righteousness, no strength known but the strength of love: So mightily spread abroad your Spirit, that all peoples may be gathered under the banner of the Prince of Peace, as children of one Father; to whom be dominion and glory, now and for ever. Amen.
Prayer for Mission
O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you; bring the nations into your fold; pour out your Spirit upon all flesh; and hasten the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

as may be best for us;
granting us in this world knowledge of your truth,
