Invitation

Tuesday - Christmas Invitation

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Be-hold, I bring you good news of great joy,
which will come to all the peo-ple;
for unto you is born this day
in the city of Da-vid,

a Sav-ior, who is Christ the Lord.
Be-hold, the dwelling of God is with man-kind.
He will dwell with them,
and they shall be his peo-ple,

and God him-self will be with them,
and He will be their God.
Lord, o-pen our lips.
And our mouth shall pro-claim your praise.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Tuesday - Jubilate

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Be joy-ful in/the Lord, all you lands;
serve the Lord with glad-ness
and come be-fore his presence with a song.
Know this: The Lord him-self is God;

He him-self has made us, and we are his;
we are his people and the sheep of his pas-ture.
Enter his gates with thanks-giv-ing;
go into his courts with praise;

Give thanks to him and call on his Name.
Be-cause the Lord is good;
his mercy is ever last-ing;
and his faithful-ness en-dures from age to age.

Psalms

Psalm 2

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Why do the nations re-bel?
Why are the countries de-vising plots that will fail?
The kings of/the earth
form a u-nit-ed front;

the rulers col-lab-o-rate
a-gainst the Lord and his a-nointed king.
They say, Let us tear off
the shackles they have put on us!

Let us free our-selves from their rope!
The one en-throned in heaven laughs in dis-gust;
the Lord taunts _ them.
Then he angri-ly speaks to them

and terri-fies them in his rage, say-ing,
I my-self have in-stalled my king
on Zi-on, my holy hill.
The king says, I will/an-nounce the Lord's de-cree.

He said/to me: You are my son!
This very day I have be-come your fath-er!
Ask me, and I will give you
the nations as your in-herit-ance,

the ends of/the earth
as your person-al proper-ty.
You will break them
with an i-ron scep-ter;

You will smash them like a potter's jar!
So now, you kings, do what is wise;
you rulers of/the earth,
sub-mit to cor-rec-tion!

Serve the Lord in fear! Re-pent in ter-ror!
Give God sin-cere hom-age!
Other-wise he will be an-gry,
and you will sure-ly die

Be-cause of your be-hav-ior,
when his an-ger quickly ig-nites.
How blessed are all
who _ take shelter in him!

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Psalm 26

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Vindi-cate me, O Lord, for I have in-tegri-ty,
and I trust in/the Lord with-out waver-ing.
Ex-amine me, O Lord, and test me!
E-valu-ate my inner thoughts and mo-tives!

For I am ever a-ware of your faithful-ness,
and your loyal-ty con-tinual-ly moti-vates me.
I do not as-soci-ate with de-ceitful men,
or con-sort with those who are dis-hon-est.

I hate the mob of evil men,
and do not as-soci-ate with/the wick-ed.
I main-tain a pure life-style,
so I can ap-pear be-fore your altar, O Lord,

to give you thanks,
and to tell/a-bout all your a-mazing deeds.
O Lord, I love the temple where you live,
the place where your splendor is re-vealed.

Don't sweep me a-way with sin-ners,
or exe-cute me a-long with vio-lent peo-ple,
who are always ready to do wrong or offer a bribe.
But I have in-tegri-ty!

Res-cue me and have mercy on me!
I am safe, and a-mong the wor-ship-ers
I will praise the Lord.
and bless his name for-ev-er

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Readings

A reading from Isaiah 49:13-23

Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth; break forth, O mountains, into singing! For the LORD has comforted his people, and will have compassion on his suffering ones. But Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me, my Lord has forgotten me. "Can a woman forget her nursing child, or show no compassion for the child of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me. Your builders outdo your destroyers, and those who laid you waste go away from you.

Lift up your eyes all around and see; they all gather, they come to you. As I live, says the LORD, you shall put all of them on like an ornament, and like a bride you shall bind them on. Surely your waste and your desolate places and your devastated land— surely now you will be too crowded for your inhabitants, and those who swallowed you up will be far away. The children born in the time of your bereavement will yet say in your hearing: "The place is too crowded for me; make room for me to settle. "Then you will say in your heart, "Who has borne me these? I was bereaved and barren, exiled and put away— so who has reared these? I was left all alone— where then have these come from? "Thus says the Lord : I will soon lift up my hand to the nations, and raise my signal to the peoples; and they shall bring your sons in their bosom, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders. Kings shall be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers. With their faces to the ground they shall bow down to you, and lick the dust of your feet. Then you will know that I am the LORD; those who wait for me shall not be put to shame.

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Tuesday - Song of the Redeemed

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

O ruler of/the uni-verse, Lord God,
great deeds are they that you have done,
sur-passing human under-stand-ing.
Your ways are ways of righteous-ness and truth,

O King of all the ag-es.
Who can fail to do you homage, Lord,
and sing the praises of your Name?
for you only are the Holy One.

All nations will draw near
and fall down be-fore you,
be-cause your just and holy works
have been re-vealed. Alle-lu-ia, a-men!

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

A reading from Matthew 18:1-14

At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? "He called a child, whom he put among them, and said, "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever becomes humble like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. "If any of you put a stumbling block before one of these little ones who believe in me, it would be better for you if a great millstone were fastened around your neck and you were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Woe to the world because of stumbling blocks! Occasions for stumbling are bound to come, but woe to the one by whom the stumbling block comes!"If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away; it is better for you to enter life maimed or lame than to have two hands or two feet and to be thrown into the eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to stumble, tear it out and throw it away; it is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and to be thrown into the hell of fire. "Take care that you do not despise one of these little ones; for, I tell you, in heaven their angels continually see the face of my Father in heaven. What do you think? If a shepherd has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. So it is not the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones should be lost.

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Tuesday - Song of Zechariah

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Isra-el;
he has come/to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty sav-ior,
born of/the house of his servant Da-vid.

Through his holy prophets he promised of old,
that he would save/us from our ene-mies,
from/the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fath-ers

and to re-member his holy cov-e-nant.
This was/the oath he swore to our father A-bra-ham,
to set us free from/the hands of our ene-mies,
Free to worship him without fear,

holy and righteous in his sight
all the days of our life.
And you, my child, shall be called
the proph-et of/the Most High,

for you will go/be-fore the Lord to/pre-pare his way,
To give his people knowledge of sal-va-tion
by the for-giveness of their sins.
In/the tender com-passion of our God

the dawn from/on high shall break up-on us,
To shine on those/who dwell in dark-ness
and in/the shadow of death,
and/to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Prayers

Tuesday Creed

We/be-lieve in God, the Father al-might-y,
cre-ator of heaven and earth.
We/be-lieve in Je-sus Christ,
his on-ly son, our Lord.

He was/con-ceived by/the power of/the Ho-ly Spi-rit
and born of/the Vir-gin Mar-y.
He suffered under Pon-tius Pi-late,
was cruci-fied, died, and was bur-ied.

He de-scended to/the dead.
On/the third day he rose a-gain.
He a-scended into heav-en,
and is seated at/the right hand of/the Fath-er.

He will come a-gain
to judge the living and the dead.
We/be-lieve in/the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
the _ holy catho-lic Church,

the com-munion of saints,
the for-give-ness of sins,
the resur-rec-tion of/the bod-y,
and the life ever-lasting. A-men.

The Lord be with you.
And al-so with _ you.
Our Father in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.

Your king-dom come,
your will be done on earth
as/it is in heav-en.

For the king-dom, the power,
and the glory are yours,

Tuesday - Morning Suffrages A

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Show us your mercy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.
Clothe your minis-ters with righteous-ness;
Let your people sing with joy.

Give peace, O Lord, in all the world;
For only in you can we live in safe-ty.
Lord, keep this nation under your care;
And guide us in/the way of justice and truth.

Let your way be known up-on earth;
Your saving health a-mong all na-tions.
Let not the needy, O Lord, be/for-got-ten;
Nor the hope of/the poor be taken a-way.

Cre-ate in us clean hearts, O God;
And sus-tain us with your Holy Spi-rit.
Show us your mercy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.

Collect of the Day

Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ in his earthly life shared our toil and hallowed our labor: Be present with your people where they work; make those who carry on the industries and commerce of this land responsive to your will; and give to us all a pride in what we do, and a just return for our labor; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Amen.

A Collect for Peace

O God, the author of peace and lover of concord, to know you is eternal life and to serve you is perfect freedom: Defend us, your humble servants, in all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in your defense, may not fear the power of any adversaries; through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Prayer for Mission

Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hard wood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name.

Amen.

Al-mighty God, Father of all mer-cies,
we your un-worthy servants give you hum-ble thanks
for all your goodness and loving kind-ness
to us and/to all whom you have made.

We bless you for our cre-ation, preserv-a-tion,

in\the re-demp-tion of/the world by our Lord Je-sus Christ;

for/the means of grace, and for/the hope of glory.
And, we pray, give/us such/an a-ware-ness of your mer-cy,

we may show forth your praise,

not only with our lips, but in our lives,
by giving up our-selves to your ser-vice,
and by walking be-fore you
in holi-ness and righteous-ness all our days;

through Je-sus Christ our Lord,
to whom, with you and the Ho-ly Spi-rit,

through-out all the ag-es. A--men.
