Be-hold, I bring you good news of great joy,
which will come to all the peo-ple;
for unto you is born this day
in the city of Da-vid,
a Sav-ior, who is Christ the Lord.
Be-hold, the dwelling of God is with man-kind.
He will dwell with them,
and they shall be his peo-ple,
and God him-self will be with them,
and He will be their God.
Lord, o-pen our lips.
And our mouth shall pro-claim your praise.
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Come, let's sing to/the Lord;
let's shout for joy to/the Rock of our sal-va-tion.
Let's come be-fore his presence with thanks-giv-ing
and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.
For the Lord is/a great God,
and a great King a-bove all gods.
In his hand are the caverns of/the earth,
and the heights of/the hills are his al-so.
The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands have molded the dry land.
Come, let's bow down, and bend the knee,
and kneel be-fore the Lord our Mak-er.
For he is our God,
and we are the people of his pas-ture
and the sheep of his hand.
Oh, that to-day you would hearken to his voice!
Psalms
Psalm 46
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
God is our strong ref-uge;
he is truly our helper in times of trou-ble.
For this reason we do not fear when the earth shakes,
and the mountains tum-ble into the depths of/the sea,
when its waves crash and foam,
and the mountains shake be-fore the surging sea.
The river's channels bring joy to/the cit-y of God,
the special holy dwelling place of/the Most High.
God lives with-in it, it can/not be moved.
God rescues it at/the break of dawn.
Nations are in up-roar, kingdoms are over-thrown.
God gives a shout, the earth dis-solves.
The Lord of Heaven's Ar-mies is on our side!
The God of Ja-cob is our pro-tec-tor!
Come! Witness the ex-ploits of/the Lord,
who brings devas-tation to/the earth!
He brings an end to wars through-out the earth;
he shatters the bow and breaks the spear;
he burns the shields with fire.
He says, Stop your striving and recog-nize that I am God!
I will be ex-alted over the na-tions!
I will be ex-alted over the earth!
The Lord of Heaven's Ar-mies is on our side!
The God of Ja-cob is our pro-tec-tor!
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.
Psalm 48
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
The Lord is great and certain-ly worthy of praise
in the city of our God, his holy hill.
It is lofty and pleasing to look at,
a source of joy to/the whole earth.
Mount Zi-on re-sembles the peaks of Za-phon;
it is the city of/the great king.
God is in its for-tress;
he re-veals him-self as its de-fend-er.
For look, the kings as-sem-ble;
they ad-vance to-geth-er.
As soon as they see, they are shocked;
they are terri-fied, they quickly re-treat.
Look at them shake uncon-trola-bly,
like a woman writh-ing in child-birth.
With an east wind you shatter the large ship.
We heard a-bout God's mighty deeds,
Now we have seen them,
in the city of/the Lord of Heaven’s Ar-my,
in the city of our God.
God makes it perma-nently se-cure.
We re-flect on your loyal love, O God, with-in your tem-ple.
The praise you re-ceive as far/a-way as/the ends of/the earth
is worthy of your repu-tation, O God. You exe-cute jus-tice!
Mount Zi-on re-joices; the towns of Judah are hap-py,
be-cause/of your acts of judg-ment.
Walk a-round Zi-on! En-circle] it!
Count its tow-ers!
Con-sid-er its de-fense!
Walk through its for-tress,
so you can tell the next gener-ation a-bout it!
For God, our God, is our de-fender for-ev-er!
It is the Lord who guides us!
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.
Readings
A reading from Isaiah 26:1-9
On that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city; he sets up victory like walls and bulwarks. Open the gates, so that the righteous nation that keeps faith may enter in. Those of steadfast mind you keep in peace in peace because they trust in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for in the LORD you have an everlasting rock.
For he has brought low the inhabitants of the height; the lofty city he lays low. He lays it low to the ground, casts it to the dust. The foot tramples it, the feet of the poor, the steps of the needy. The way of the righteous is level; O Just One, you make smooth the path of the righteous. In the path of your judgments, O LORD, we wait for you; your name and your renown are the soul's desire. My soul yearns for you in the night, my spirit within me earnestly seeks you. For when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!
Friday - Song of Simeon
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Lord, you now have set your servant free
to go/in peace as you have prom-ised;
For these eyes of mine have seen the Sav-ior,
whom you have pre-pared for all the world to see:
A Light to en-lighten the na-tions,
and the glory of your people Is-ra-el.
Lord, you now have set your servant free
to go/in peace as you have prom-ised;
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever. A-men.
A reading from 2 Corinthians 5:16-6:2
From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view; even though we once knew Christ from a human point of view, we know him no longer in that way. So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation;that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us. So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
As we work together with him, we urge you also not to accept the grace of God in vain. For he says, "At an acceptable time I have listened to you, and on a day of salvation I have helped you. " See, now is the acceptable time; see, now is the day of salvation!
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!
Friday - Song of the Redeemed
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
O ruler of/the uni-verse, Lord God,
great deeds are they that you have done,
sur-passing human under-stand-ing.
Your ways are ways of righteous-ness and truth,
O King of all the ag-es.
Who can fail to do you homage, Lord,
and sing the praises of your Name?
for you only are the Holy One.
All nations will draw near
and fall down be-fore you,
be-cause your just and holy works
have been re-vealed. Alle-lu-ia, a-men!
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.
A reading from John 8:12-19
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life. "Then the Pharisees said to him, "You are testifying on your own behalf; your testimony is not valid. "Jesus answered, "Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid because I know where I have come from and where I am going, but you do not know where I come from or where I am going. You judge by human standards; I judge no one. Yet even if I do judge, my judgment is valid; for it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me. In your law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is valid. I testify on my own behalf, and the Father who sent me testifies on my behalf. "Then they said to him, "Where is your Father? " Jesus answered, "You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also. "
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!
Friday - Song of Zechariah
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Isra-el;
he has come/to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty sav-ior,
born of/the house of his servant Da-vid.
Through his holy prophets he promised of old,
that he would save/us from our ene-mies,
from/the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fath-ers
and to re-member his holy cov-e-nant.
This was/the oath he swore to our father A-bra-ham,
to set us free from/the hands of our ene-mies,
Free to worship him without fear,
holy and righteous in his sight
all the days of our life.
And you, my child, shall be called
the proph-et of/the Most High,
for you will go/be-fore the Lord to/pre-pare his way,
To give his people knowledge of sal-va-tion
by the for-giveness of their sins.
In/the tender com-passion of our God
the dawn from/on high shall break up-on us,
To shine on those/who dwell in dark-ness
and in/the shadow of death,
and/to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

He de-scended to/the dead.
On/the third day he rose a-gain.
He a-scended into heav-en,
and is seated at/the right hand of/the Fath-er.

Save your people, Lord,
and bless your in-herit-ance;
Govern and guide them, Lord
and up-hold them, now and al-ways.
Day by day we bless you;
We praise your name for-ever.
Lord, keep us from all sin to-day;
Have mercy on us, Lord, have mer-cy.
Lord, show us your love and mer-cy;
For we put our trust in you.
In you, Lord, is our hope;
And we shall never hope in vain.
Collects of the Day
O God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as surpass our understanding: Pour into our hearts such love towards you, that we, loving you in all things and above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
A Collect for Fridays
Almighty God, whose most dear Son went not up to joy but first he suffered pain, and entered not into glory before he was crucified: Mercifully grant that we, walking in the way of the cross, may find it none other than the way of life and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Prayer for Mission
Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hard wood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name.
Amen.
