Even be-fore the mountains came into ex-ist-ence,
or you brought the world into be-ing,
you were the e-ter-nal God.
You make man-kind re-turn to/the dust,
and say, Re-turn, O peo-ple!
Yes, in your eyes a thousand years are like yester-day that quickly pass-es,
or like one of/the di-vi-sions of/the night-time.
You bring their lives to/an end and they fall a-sleep.
In/the morning they are like the grass that sprouts up;
in the morning it glistens and sprouts up;
at eve-ning time it withers and dries up.
Yes, we are con-sumed by your an-ger;
we are terri-fied by your wrath.
You are a-ware of our sins;
you even know a-bout our hidden sins.
Yes, through-out all our days we ex-peri-ence your raging fu-ry;
the years of our lives pass quickly, like a sigh.
The days of our lives add up to seven-ty years,
or eight-y, if one is e-special-ly strong.
But even one's best years are marred by trou-ble
and sor-rowed by op-pres-sion.
Yes, they pass quickly and we fly a-way.
Who can really fathom the in-tensi-ty of your an-ger?
Your raging fu-ry causes people to fear you.
So teach us to con-sider our mor-tali-ty,
so that we might live wise-ly.
Turn back toward us, O Lord!
How long must this suffer-ing last?
Have pity on your serv-ants!
Satis-fy us in/the morning with your loyal love!
Then we will shout for joy and be happy all our days!
Make us happy in pro-portion to/the days you have af-flicted us,
in pro-portion to/the years we have ex-peri-enced trou-ble!
May your serv-ants see your work!
May their sons see your maj-es-ty!
May our sovereign God ex-tend his favor to us!

Readings
A reading from Isaiah 65:15-25
You shall leave your name to my chosen to use as a curse, and the Lord will put you to death; but to his servants he will give a different name. Then whoever invokes a blessing in the land shall bless by the God of faithfulness, and whoever takes an oath in the land shall swear by the God of faithfulness; because the former troubles are forgotten and are hidden from my sight.
For I am about to create new heavens and a new earth; the former things shall not be remembered or come to mind. But be glad and rejoice forever in what I am creating; for I am about to create Jerusalem as a joy, and its people as a delight. I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and delight in my people; no more shall the sound of weeping be heard in it, or the cry of distress. No more shall there be in it an infant that lives but a few days, or an old person who does not live out a lifetime; for one who dies at a hundred years will be considered a youth, and one who falls short of a hundred will be considered accursed. They shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. They shall not build and another inhabit; they shall not plant and another eat; for like the days of a tree shall the days of my people be, and my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labor in vain, or bear children for calamity; for they shall be offspring blessed by the LORD— and their descendants as well. Before they call I will answer, while they are yet speaking I will hear. The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, the lion shall eat straw like the ox; but the serpent—its food shall be dust! They shall not hurt or destroy on all my holy mountain, says the LORD.

Splendor and honor and king-ly power
are yours by right, O Lord our God,
For you cre-ated every-thing that is,

a kingdom of priests to serve our God.

A reading from Revelation 21:1-6

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "See, the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them as their God; they will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them;he will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away. "And the one who was seated on the throne said, "See, I am making all things new. " Also he said, "Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true. "Then he said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give water as a gift from the spring of the water of life.

Collect of the Day
