Grace/to you and peace/from God our Fa-ther
and from/the Lord Je-sus Christ.
Worship the Lord in/the beauty of his holi-ness;
let/the whole earth trem-ble/be-fore him.

Let/my prayer/be set forth/in your sight as in-cense,
the lifting up of/my hands as/the evening sacri-fice.
I/will bless the Lord who gives/me coun-sel;
my heart teaches me, night after night.

I/have set/the Lord always be-fore me;
be-cause he is/at my right hand, I shall not fall.
O God, make speed/to save us.
O Lord, make haste/to help us.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Friday - O Gracious Light

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

O gracious light, pure bright-ness
of the ever-living Father in heav-en,
O Je-sus Christ, holy and bless-ed!
we sing your praises, O God!

Now as/we come to/the setting of/the sun,
and our eyes be-hold/the vesper light,
we sing your praises, O God:
Father, Son, and Ho-ly Spi-rit.

You are worthy at all times
to be praised by happy voic-es,
O Son of God, O Giver of life,
and/to be glori-fied through all the worlds.

Psalms

Psalm 89:1-18

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

I will sing con-tinual-ly a-bout the Lord's faithful deeds;
to future gener-ations I will pro-claim your faithful-ness.
For I say, Loyal love is perma-nently es-tab-lished;
in the skies you set up your faithful-ness.

The Lord said, I have made a cove-nant with my chosen one;
I have made a promise on oath to Da-vid, my serv-ant:
I will give you an e-ternal dynas-ty
and es-tablish your throne through-out future gener-a-tions.

O Lord, the heavens praise your a-mazing deeds,
as well as your faithful-ness in/the an-gel-ic as-sem-bly.
For who in/the skies can com-pare to/the Lord?
Who is like the Lord a-mong the heaven-ly be-ings,

a God who is honored in/the great an-gel-ic as-sem-bly,
and more awesome than all who sur-round him?
O Lord God of Heaven's Ar-my!
Who is strong like you, O Lord?

Your faithful-ness sur-rounds you.
You rule over the proud sea.
When its waves surge, you calm them.
You crushed the Proud One and killed it;

With your strong arm you scattered your ene-mies.
The heavens be-long to you, as does the earth.
You made the world and all it con-tains.
You cre-ated the north and the south.

Ta-bor and Her-mon re-joice in your name.
Your arm is power-ful, your hand strong,
your right hand is vic-tori-ous.
Eq-uity and justice are the foun-dation of your throne.

Loyal love and faithful-ness charac your rule.
How blessed are the people who worship you!
O Lord, they ex-peri-ence your fa-vor.
They re-joice in your name all day long,

They are vindi-cated by your jus-tice.
For you give them splendor and strength.
By your favor we are vic-tori-ous.
For our shield be-longs to/the Lord,

O Lord, we ex-peri-ence your fa-vor.
We re-joice in your name all day long,
You are our king
You are the Holy One of Isra-el.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Readings

A reading from Isaiah 59:15b-21

Truth is lacking, and whoever turns from evil is despoiled. The LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice.

He saw that there was no one, and was appalled that there was no one to intervene; so his own arm brought him victory, and his righteousness upheld him. He put on righteousness like a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head; he put on garments of vengeance for clothing, and wrapped himself in fury as in a mantle. According to their deeds, so will he repay; wrath to his adversaries, requital to his enemies; to the coastlands he will render requital. So those in the west shall fear the name of the LORD, and those in the east, his glory; for he will come like a pent-up stream that the wind of the LORD drives on. And he will come to Zion as Redeemer, to those in Jacob who turn from transgression, says the LORD. And as for me, this is my covenant with them, says the LORD: my spirit that is upon you, and my words that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouths of your children, or out of the mouths of your children's children, says the LORD, from now on and forever.

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Friday - First Song of Isaiah

Surely, it/is God who saves me;
I/will trust in him and not be/a-fraid.
For/the Lord is my stronghold and my sure de-fense,
and he will be my Sav-ior.

Therefore you shall draw water with re-joic-ing
from/the springs of sal-va-tion.
And/on that day you shall say,
Give thanks to/the Lord and call up-on his Name;

Make his deeds known/a-mong the peo-ples;
see that they re-member that his Name is ex-alt-ed.
Sing the praises of/the Lord,
for he has done great things,

And this/is known in all the world.
Cry/a-loud, in-habit-ants of Zion, ring out your joy,
for/the great one in/the midst of you
is the Holy One of Is-ra-el.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

A reading from Philippians 2:5-11

Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death— even death on a cross. Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Friday - Glory to God

Glory to God in/the high-est,
and peace to his people on earth.
Lord God, heaven-ly King,

Lord Je-sus Christ, only Son of/the Fath-er,
Lord God, _ Lamb of God,

You take/a-way the sin of/the world:

re-ceive _ our pray-er.

For you a-lone are/the Ho-ly One,
You a-lone are the Lord,
You a-lone are/the Most High, Je-sus Christ,
with/the Ho-ly Spi-rit, in/the glory of God the Fath-er.

We/be-lieve in God, the Father al-might-y,
cre-ator of heaven and earth.
We/be-lieve in Je-sus Christ,
his on-ly son, our Lord.

He was/con-ceived by/the power of/the Ho-ly Spi-rit
and born of/the Vir-gin Mar-y.
He suffered under Pon-tius Pi-late,
was cruci-fied, died, and was bur-ied.

He de-scended to/the dead.
On/the third day he rose a-gain.
He a-scended into heav-en,
and is seated at/the right hand of/the Fath-er.

He will come a-gain
to judge the living and the dead.
We/be-lieve in/the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
the _ holy catho-lic Church,

the com-munion of saints,
the for-give-ness of sins,
the resur-rec-tion of/the bod-y,
and the life ever-lasting. A-men.

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

The Lord be with you.
And al-so with _ you.
Our Father in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.

Your king-dom come,
your will be done on earth
as/it is in heav-en.
Give us to-day our daily bread.

For-give us our sins
as we _ for-give those
who sin a-gainst us.
Save us from/the time of tri-al

De-liver us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the power,
and the glory are yours,
now and for-ever A-men.

Friday - Evening Suffrages A

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Show us your mercy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.
Clothe your minis-ters with righteous-ness;
Let your people sing with joy.

Give peace, O Lord, in all the world;
For only in you can we live in safe-ty.
Lord, keep this nation under your care;
And guide us in/the way of justice and truth.

Let your way be known up-on earth;
Your saving health among all na-tions.
Let not the needy, O Lord, be for-got-ten;
Nor the hope of/the poor be taken a-way.

Cre-ate in us clean hearts, O God;
And sus-tain us by your Holy Spi-rit.
Show us your mercy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.

Collect of the Day

O God, the King of glory, you have exalted your only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven: Do not leave us comfortless, but send us your Holy Spirit to strengthen us, and exalt us to that place where our Savior Christ has gone before; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting.

Amen.

A Collect for Fridays

Lord Jesus Christ, by your death you took away the sting of death: Grant to us your servants so to follow in faith where you have led the way, that we may at length fall asleep peacefully in you and wake up in your likeness; for your tender mercies' sake.

Amen.

Prayer for Mission

O God and Father of all, whom the whole heavens adore: Let the whole earth also worship you, all nations obey you, all tongues confess and bless you, and men and women everywhere love you and serve you in peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

A Prayer of Saint Chrysostom

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Al-might-y God,
you have given us grace at this time
with one ac-cord
to make our common suppli-cation to you;

and you have prom-ised
through your well be-loved Son
that when two/or three are gathered in his Name
you will be in/the midst of them:

Ful-fill now, O Lord, our de-sires and pe-ti-tions
as may be best for us;
granting us in this world knowledge of your truth,
and in/the age to come life ever-lasting. A-men.
