Wednesday - Daysong Invitation

May God bless us!
May God, our God, bless us!
Then all/the ends of/the earth
will give him the honor he de-serves.

May God show/us his favor and bless us!
May he smile up-on us!
Then those living on earth will know what you are like;
all nations will know how you de-liver your peo-ple.

Let foreign-ers re-joice and cele-brate!
For you exe-cute justice a-mong the na-tions,
O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Psalm 120

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

In my dis-tress I cried out to/the Lord
and he answered me. I said,
O Lord, res-cue me from those/who lie with/their lips
and those who/de-ceive with their tongues.

How will he severe-ly punish you, you de-ceptive talk-ers?
Heres how! With the sharp arrows of warri-ors,
with arrow-heads forged over the hot coals.
How miser-able I am! For I have lived tempo-rari-ly in Mesh-ech;

I have re-sided a-mong the tents of Ke-dar.
For too long I/have had to/re-side with those who hate peace.
I am com-mitted to peace,
but when I speak, they want/to make war.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Readings

A reading from Luke 1:39-56

In those days Mary set out and went with haste to a Judean town in the hill country, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the child leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spiritand exclaimed with a loud cry, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And why has this happened to me, that the mother of my Lord comes to me? For as soon as I heard the sound of your greeting, the child in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her by the Lord. "And Mary said, "My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant. Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed;for the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. His mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation. He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts. He has brought down the powerful from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly;he has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, according to the promise he made to our ancestors, to Abraham and to his descendants forever. "And Mary remained with her about three months and then returned to her home.

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Wednesday - Our Father

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

The Lord be with you.
And al-so with _ you.
Our Father in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.

Your king-dom come,
your will be done on earth
as/it is in heav-en.
Give us to-day our daily bread.

For-give us our sins
as we _ for-give those
who sin a-gainst us.
Save us from/the time of tri-al

De-liver us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the power,
and the glory are yours,
now and for-ever A-men.
