Wednesday - Daysong Invitation

May God bless us!
May God, our God, bless us!
Then all the ends of/the earth
will give him the honor he de-serves.

May God show us his favor and bless us!
May he smile up-on us!
Then those living on earth will know what you are like;
all na-tions will know how you de-liver your peo-ple.

Let foreign-ers re-joice and cel-e-brate!
For you exe-cute jus-tice a-mong the na-tions,
O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Psalm 126

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

When the Lord re-stored the well-being of Zi-on,
we thought we were dream-ing.
At that time we laughed loud-ly
and we shout-ed for joy.

At that time the na-tions said,
The Lord has ac-com-plished great things for these peo-ple.
The Lord did in-deed ac-com-plish great things for us.
We were happy and re-joiced.

O Lord, re-store our well-being,
just as the streams in/the ar-id south are re-plen-ished.
Those who shed tears as they plant-ed
will shout for joy when they reap the har-vest.

The one who weeps as he walks a-long,
carry-ing his bag of seed,
will certain-ly come in with/a shout of joy,
carry-ing his sheaves of grain.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Readings

A reading from Hebrews 1:1-14

After God spoke long ago in various portions and in various ways to our ancestors through the prophets, in these last days he has spoken to us in a son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he created the world. The Son is the radiance of his glory and the representation of his essence, and he sustains all things by his powerful word, and so when he had accomplished cleansing for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. Thus he became so far better than the angels as he has inherited a name superior to theirs.

For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my son! Today I have fathered you”? And in another place he says, “I will be his father and he will be my son.” But when he again brings his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all the angels of God worship him!” And he says of the angels, “He makes his angels winds and his ministers a flame of fire,” but of the Son he says,

“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever,

and a righteous scepter is the scepter of your kingdom.

You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness.

So God, your God, has anointed you over your companions with the oil of rejoicing.”

And,

“You founded the earth in the beginning, Lord,

and the heavens are the works of your hands.

They will perish, but you continue.

And they will all grow old like a garment,

and like a robe you will fold them up

and like a garment they will be changed,

but you are the same and your years will never run out.”

But to which of the angels has he ever said, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to serve those who will inherit salvation?

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Wednesday - Our Father

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

The Lord be with you.
And al-so with _ you.
Our Fath-er in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.

Your king-dom come,
your will be done on earth
as it is in heav-en.
Give us to-day our dai-ly bread.

For-give us our sins
as we _ for-give those
who sin a-gainst us.
Save us from/the time of tri-al,

De-liver us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the pow-er,
and the glory are yours,
now and for-ever A-men.
