The Lord Al-might-y grant us a peaceful night
and a per-fect end. A-men.
Our help is in/the Name of/the Lord;
The mak-er of heaven and earth.

Al-might-y God, our heaven-ly Fath-er:
We have sinned a-gainst you,
through our own fault,
in thought, and word, and deed,

and in what we have left un-done.
For the sake of your Son
our Lord Je-sus Christ,
for-give us all our of-fens-es;

and grant that we may serve you
in _ new-ness of life,
to the glory of your Name. A-men.
May the Al-might-y God grant us

for-give-ness of all our sins,
and the grace and comfort of/the Ho-ly Spi-rit.
O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Psalm 31

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

In you, O Lord, I have taken shel-ter!
Never let me be hu-mili-at-ed!
Vindi-cate me by res-cu-ing me!
List-en to me! Quickly de-liver me!

Be my pro-tec-tor and ref-uge,
a strong-hold where I can be safe!
For you are my high ridge and my strong-hold;
for the sake of your own repu-ta-tion

You lead me and guide me.
You will free me from/the net they hid for me,
for you are my place of ref-uge.
Into your hand I en-trust my life;

you will res-cue me,
O Lord, _ the faithful God.
I hate those who serve worth-less i-dols,
but _ I trust in/the Lord.

I will be happy and re-joice in your faithful-ness,
be-cause you no-tice my pain
and you are a-ware of how dis-tressed I am.
You do not de-liver me over to/the power of/the ene-my;

you en-able me to stand in a wide o-pen place.
Have mer-cy on me, Lord, for I am in dis-tress!
My eyes grow dim from suffer-ing.
I have lost all my strength.

For my life nears its end in pain;
my years draw to a close as I groan.
My strength fails me be-cause of my sin,
and my bones be-come brit-tle.

Be-cause of all my ene-m1es, people dis-dain me;
my neigh-bors are ap-palled by my suffer-ing
those who know me are horri-fied by my con-di-tion;
those who see me in/the street run a-way from me.

I am for-got-ten,
like a dead man no one thinks a-bout;
I am re-garded as worth-less,
I am like a bro-ken jar.

For I hear what so many are say-ing,
the terri-fy-ing news that comes from every di-rec-tion.
When they plot to-gether a-gainst me,
they figure out how they can take my life.

But I trust in you, O Lord!
I de-clare, You are my God!
You de-ter-mine my des-ti-ny!
Res-cue me from/the power of my ene-mies

and from those who chase me.
Smile on your loyal serv-ant!
De-liver me be-cause of your faithful-ness!
O Lord, do not let me be hu-mili-at-ed,

for I call out to you, my God!
May evil men be hu-mili-at-ed!
May they go wail-ing to/the grave!
May ly-ing lips be si-lenced;

lips that speak de-fiant-ly a-gainst the inno-cent
with arro-gance and con-tempt!
How great is your fa-vor,
which you store up for your peo-ple!

In plain sight of every-one
you be-stow it on those who take shelter in you.
You hide them with you,
where they are safe from/the at-tacks of men;

you con-ceal them in a shel-ter,
where they are safe from slander-ous at-tacks.
The Lord de-serves praise
for he demon-strat-ed his a-mazing faithful-ness to me

when I was be-sieged by ene-mies.
I jumped to con-clu-sions and said,
I am cut off from your pres-ence!
But you heard my plea for mer-cy

when I cried out to you for help.
Love the Lord, all you faithful follow-ers of his!
The Lord pro-tects those who have in-tegri-ty,
but he pays back in full the one who acts arro-gant-ly.

Be strong and con-fi-dent,
all you who wait on/the Lord!
In you, O Lord, I have taken shel-ter!
Never let me be hu-mili-at-ed!

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Readings

A reading from Mark 8:22-33

Then they came to Bethsaida. They brought a blind man to Jesus and asked him to touch him. He took the blind man by the hand and brought him outside of the village. Then he spit on his eyes, placed his hands on his eyes and asked, “Do you see anything?” Regaining his sight he said, “I see people, but they look like trees walking.” Then Jesus placed his hands on the man’s eyes again. And he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. Jesus sent him home, saying, “Do not even go into the village.”

Then Jesus and his disciples went to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” They said, “John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and still others, one of the prophets.” He asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, “You are the Christ.” Then he warned them not to tell anyone about him.

Then Jesus began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and experts in the law, and be killed, and after three days rise again. He spoke openly about this. So Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. But after turning and looking at his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan. You are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but on man’s.”

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Tuesday - Our Father

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

The Lord be with you.
And al-so with _ you.
Our Fath-er in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.

Your king-dom come,
your will be done on earth
as it is in heav-en.
Give us to-day our dai-ly bread.

For-give us our sins
as we _ for-give those
who sin a-gainst us.
Save us from/the time of tri-al,

De-liver us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the pow-er,
and the glory are yours,
now and for-ever A-men.

Collect of the Day

Keep watch, dear Lord, with those who work, or watch, or weep this night, and give your angels charge over those who sleep. Tend the sick, Lord Christ; give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous; and all for your love's sake.

Amen.

A Collect for Aid against Perils

Be our light in the darkness, O Lord, and in your great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night; for the love of your only Son, our Savior Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Prayer for Mission

O God and Father of all, whom the whole heavens adore: Let the whole earth also worship you, all nations obey you, all tongues confess and bless you, and men and women everywhere love you and serve you in peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Compline

Into your hands, O Lord, I com-mend my spi-rit;
For you have re-deemed me, O Lord, O God of truth.
Keep us, O Lord, as the apple of your eye;
Hide us under the shadow of your wings.

Lord, have mer-cy up-on us.
Christ, have mer-cy up-on us.
Lord, hear our prayer;
And let our cry come to you.

Guide us as we wake, O Lord,
and guard us as we sleep;
that a-wake we may watch with Christ,
and a-sleep we may rest in peace.

Lord, you now have set your serv-ant free
to go in peace as you have prom-ised;
For these eyes of mine have seen the Sav-ior,
whom you have pre-pared for all the world to see:

A Light to en-lighten the na-tions,
and the glory of your people Is-ra-el.
The al-mighty and merci-ful Lord,
Fath-er, Son, and Ho-ly Spi-rit, bless and keep us.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Guide us as we wake, O Lord,
and guard us as we sleep;
that a-wake we may watch with Christ,
and a-sleep we may rest in peace.
