The Lord Al-might-y grant us a peaceful night
and a per-fect end. A-men.
Our help is in/the Name of/the Lord;
The mak-er of heaven and earth.

Al-might-y God, our heaven-ly Fath-er:
We have sinned a-gainst you,
through our own fault,
in thought, and word, and deed,

and in what we have left un-done.
For the sake of your Son
our Lord Je-sus Christ,
for-give us all our of-fens-es;

and grant that we may serve you
in _ new-ness of life,
to the glory of your Name. A-men.
May the Al-might-y God grant us

for-give-ness of all our sins,
and the grace and comfort of/the Ho-ly Spi-rit.
O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Psalm 51

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Have mercy on me, O God,
be-cause of your loyal love!
Be-cause of your great com-pas-sion,
wipe a-way my re-bel-lious acts!

Wash a-way my wrong-do-ing!
Cleanse me of all my sins!
For I am a-ware of my re-bel-lious acts;
I am for-ever conscious of my sin.

A-gainst you, you a-bove all, I have sinned;
I have done what is evil in your sight.
So you are just when you con-front me;
you are right when you con-demn me.

Look, I was guilty of sin from birth,
a sinner the moment my mother con-ceived me.
Look, you de-sire in-tegri-ty in/the inner man;
you want me to pos-sess wis-dom.

Cleanse me with hys-sop and I will be pure;
wash me and I will be whiter than snow.
Grant me the ulti-mate joy of being for-giv-en!
May the bones you crushed re-joice!

Hide your face from my sins!
Wipe a-way all my guilt!
Cre-ate for me a pure heart, O God!
Re-new a right spirit with-in me!

Do not re-ject me!
Do not take your holy Spi-rit a-way from me!
Let me a-gain ex-peri-ence the joy of your de-liver-ance!
Sus-tain me by giving me the de-sire to o-bey!

Then I will teach rebels your merci-ful ways,
and sinners will turn to you.
Res-cue me from/the guilt of mur-der, O God,
the God who de-livers me!

Then my tongue will shout for joy
be-cause of your righteous-ness.
O Lord, give me the words!
Then my mouth will praise you.

Certain-ly you do not want a sacri-fice,
or else I would offer it;
you do not de-sire a burnt sacri-fice.
The sacri-fices God de-sires are a hum-ble spirit O God,

a hum-ble and re-pent-ant heart you will not re-ject.
Be-cause you favor Zi-on, do what is good for her!
Cre-ate for me a pure heart, O God!
Re-new a right spirit with-in me!

Forti-fy the walls of Je-ru-sa-lem!
Then you will ac-cept the pro-per sacri-fic-es,
burnt sacri-fices and whole offer-ings;
then bulls will be sacri-ficed on your al-tar.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Readings

A reading from Luke 4:38-44

After Jesus left the synagogue, he entered Simon’s house. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her. So he stood over her, commanded the fever, and it left her. Immediately she got up and began to serve them.

As the sun was setting, all those who had any relatives sick with various diseases brought them to Jesus. He placed his hands on every one of them and healed them. Demons also came out of many, crying out, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them, and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.

The next morning Jesus departed and went to a deserted place. Yet the crowds were seeking him, and they came to him and tried to keep him from leaving them. But Jesus said to them, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns too, for that is what I was sent to do.” So he continued to preach in the synagogues of Judea.

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Wednesday - Our Father

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

The Lord be with you.
And al-so with _ you.
Our Fath-er in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.

Your king-dom come,
your will be done on earth
as it is in heav-en.
Give us to-day our dai-ly bread.

For-give us our sins
as we _ for-give those
who sin a-gainst us.
Save us from/the time of tri-al,

De-liver us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the pow-er,
and the glory are yours,
now and for-ever A-men.

Collect of the Day

O God, your unfailing providence sustains the world we live in and the life we live: Watch over those, both night and day, who work while others sleep, and grant that we may never forget that our common life depends upon each other's toil; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

A Collect for Protection

O God, the life of all who live, the light of the faithful, the strength of those who labor, and the repose of the dead: We thank you for the blessings of the day that is past, and humbly ask for your protection through the coming night. Bring us in safety to the morning hours; through him who died and rose again for us, your Son our Savior Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Prayer for Mission

O God and Father of all, whom the whole heavens adore: Let the whole earth also worship you, all nations obey you, all tongues confess and bless you, and men and women everywhere love you and serve you in peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Into your hands, O Lord, I com-mend my spi-rit;
For you have re-deemed me, O Lord, O God of truth.
Keep us, O Lord, as the apple of your eye;
Hide us under the shadow of your wings.

Lord, have mer-cy up-on us.
Christ, have mer-cy up-on us.
Lord, hear our prayer;
And let our cry come to you.

Guide us as we wake, O Lord,
and guard us as we sleep;
that a-wake we may watch with Christ,
and a-sleep we may rest in peace.

Lord, you now have set your serv-ant free
to go in peace as you have prom-ised;
For these eyes of mine have seen the Sav-ior,
whom you have pre-pared for all the world to see:

A Light to en-lighten the na-tions,
and the glory of your people Is-ra-el.
The al-mighty and merci-ful Lord,
Fath-er, Son, and Ho-ly Spi-rit, bless and keep us.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Guide us as we wake, O Lord,
and guard us as we sleep;
that a-wake we may watch with Christ,
and a-sleep we may rest in peace.
