Alle-lu-ia! Christ our Pass-over has been sacri-ficed for us;
there-fore let us keep the feast,
Not with old leaven, the leaven of mal-ice and e-vil,
but with/the un-leavened bread of sin-ceri-ty and truth. Alle-lu-ia!

Christ being raised from/the dead will never die a-gain;
death no long-er has do-minion over him.
The death that he died, he died to sin, once for all;
but the life he lives, he lives to God.

So al-so con-sider your-selves dead to sin,
and a-live to God in Je-sus Christ our Lord. Alle-lu-ia!
Christ has been raised from/the dead,
the first fruits of those who have fallen a-sleep.

For since by a man came death,
by a man has come al-so the resur-rec-tion of/the dead.

Re-member your word to your serv-ant,
for you have given me hope.
For Solo-mon. O God, grant the king
the a-bili-ty to make just de-ci-sions!

Grant the king’s son
the a-bili-ty to make fair de-ci-sions!
Then he will judge your people fair-ly,
and your op-pressed ones equi-ta-bly.

The mountains will bring news of peace to/the peo-ple,
and the hills will an-nounce jus-tice.
He will de-fend the op-pressed a-mong the peo-ple;
he will de-liver the children of/the poor and crush the op-pres-sor.

People will fear you as long/as the sun and moon re-main in/the sky,
for gener-a-tion after gener-a-tion.
He will de-scend like rain on/the mown grass,
like showers that drench the earth.

During his days the god-ly will flour-ish;
peace will pre-vail as long/as the moon re-mains in/the sky.
May he rule from sea to sea,
and from/the Eu-phra-tes Riv-er to/the ends of/the earth!

Be-fore him the coastlands will bow down,
and his ene-mies will lick the dust.
The kings of Tar-shish and the coastlands will of-fer gifts;
the kings of She-bah and Se-bah will bring trib-ute.

All kings will bow down to him;
all na-tions will serve him.
For he will res-cue the needy when they cry out for help,
and the op-pressed who have no de-fend-er.

He will take pity on/the poor and need-y;
the lives of/the needy he will save.
From harm and vio-lence he will de-fend them;
he will val-ue their lives.

May he live! May they offer him gold from She-bah!
May they con-tin-ual-ly pray for him!
May they pro-nounce blessings on him all day long!
May there be an a-bundance of grain in/the earth;

On the tops of/the mountains may it sway!
May its fruit trees flour-ish like the forests of Leb-a-non!
May its crops be as a-bundant as the grass of/the earth!
May his fame and glory en-dure!

May his dy-nasty last as long/as the sun re-mains in/the sky!
May they use his name when they com-pose their bles-sings!
May all na-tions con-sider him to be fa-vored by God!
The Lord God, the God of Is-ra-el, de-serves praise!

He a-lone ac-com-plishes a-mazing things!
His glori-ous name de-serves praise for-ever-more!
May his ma-jestic splendor fill the whole earth!

Readings

A reading from Wisdom 4:16-5:8

The righteous who have died will condemn the ungodly who are living,
and youth that is quickly perfected will condemn the prolonged old age of the unrighteous.
For they will see the end of the wise,
and will not understand what the Lord purposed for them,
and for what he kept them safe.
The unrighteous will see, and will have contempt for them,
but the Lord will laugh them to scorn.
After this they will become dishonored corpses,
and an outrage among the dead forever;
because he will dash them speechless to the ground,
and shake them from the foundations;
they will be left utterly dry and barren,
and they will suffer anguish,
and the memory of them will perish.

They will come with dread when their sins are reckoned up,
and their lawless deeds will convict them to their face.
Then the righteous will stand with great confidence
in the presence of those who have oppressed them
and those who make light of their labors.
When the unrighteous see them, they will be shaken with dreadful fear,
and they will be amazed at the unexpected salvation of the righteous.
They will speak to one another in repentance,
and in anguish of spirit they will groan, and say,
These are persons whom we once held in derision
and made a byword of reproachfools that we were!
We thought that their lives were madness
and that their end was without honor.
Why have they been numbered among the children of God?
And why is their lot among the saints?
So it was we who strayed from the way of truth,
and the light of righteousness did not shine on us,
and the sun did not rise upon us.
We took our fill of the paths of lawlessness and destruction,
and we journeyed through trackless deserts,
but the way of the Lord we have not known.
What has our arrogance profited us?
And what good has our boasted wealth brought us?

Seek the Lord while he wills to/be found;
call up-on him when he draws near.
Let the wicked for-sake their ways

For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor your ways my ways, says the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,

A reading from Luke 6:27-38

“But I say to you who are listening: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. To the person who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other as well, and from the person who takes away your coat, do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who asks you, and do not ask for your possessions back from the person who takes them away. Treat others in the same way that you would want them to treat you.

“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to be repaid, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, so that they may be repaid in full. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to ungrateful and evil people. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you: A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be poured into your lap. For the measure you use will be the measure you receive.”

Almighty God, the giver of all good gifts, in your divine providence you have appointed various orders in your Church: Give your grace, we humbly pray, to all who are [now] called to any office and ministry for your people; and so fill them with the truth of your doctrine and clothe them with holiness of life, that they may faithfully serve before you, to the glory of your great Name and for the benefit of your holy Church; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
