The Lord Al-might-y grant us a peaceful night
and a per-fect end. A-men.
Our help is in/the Name of/the Lord;
The mak-er of heaven and earth.
Al-might-y God, our heaven-ly Fath-er:
We have sinned a-gainst you,
through our own fault,
in thought, and word, and deed,
and in what we have left un-done.
For the sake of your Son
our Lord Je-sus Christ,
for-give us all our of-fens-es;
and grant that we may serve you
in _ new-ness of life,
to the glory of your Name. A-men.
May the Al-might-y God grant us
for-give-ness of all our sins,
and the grace and comfort of/the Ho-ly Spi-rit.
O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.
Psalm 25

O Lord, I come be-fore you in prayer.
My God, I trust in you.
Please don't let me be hu-mili-at-ed;
Don't let my ene-mies triumphant-ly re-joice over me!
Certain-ly none who re-ly on you will be hu-mili-at-ed.
Those who deal in treacher-y will be thwarted and a-shamed.
Make me under-stand your ways,
O Lord! Teach me your paths!
Guide me into your truth and teach me.
For you are the God who de-livers me;
on you I re-ly all day long.
Re-member your com-passion-ate and faithful deeds, O Lord,
for you have al-ways acted in this man-ner.
Do not hold a-gainst me the sins of my youth
or my re-bel-lious acts!
Be-cause you are faithful to me,
Ex-tend to me your fa-vor, O Lord!
The Lord is both kind and fair;
that is why he teaches sinners the right way to live.
May he show the hum-ble what is right!
May he teach the hum-ble his way!
The Lord al-ways proves faithful and re-lia-ble
to those who follow the de-mands of his cove-nant.
For the sake of your repu-ta-tion, O Lord, for-give my sin,
For my sin is great.
The Lord shows his faithful follow-ers the way they should live.
They ex-peri-ence his fa-vor;
their de-scen-dants in-herit the land.
The Lord's loyal follow-ers re-ceive his guid-ance,
and he re-veals his cove-nant-al de-mands to them.
I con-tin-ual-ly look to/the Lord for help,
for he will free my feet from/the ene-my's net.
Turn toward me and have mer-cy on me,
for I am a-lone and op-pressed!
De-liver me from my dis-tress;
res-cue me from my suffer-ing!
For-give all my sins! See my pain and suffer-ing!
Watch my ene-mies, for they out-number me;
they hate me and want to harm me.
Pro-tect me and de-liver me!
Please do not let me be hu-mili-at-ed,
for I have taken shelter in you!
May in-tegri-ty and godli-ness pro-tect me, for I re-ly on you!
O God, res-cue Is-ra-el from all their dis-tress!
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.
Readings
A reading from John 1:1-18
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was fully God. The Word was with God in the beginning. All things were created by him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created. In him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. And the light shines on in the darkness, but the darkness has not mastered it.
A man came, sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify about the light, so that everyone might believe through him. He himself was not the light, but he came to testify about the light. The true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was created by him, but the world did not recognize him. He came to what was his own, but his own people did not receive him. But to all who have received him – those who believe in his name – he has given the right to become God’s children – children not born by human parents or by human desire or a husband’s decision, but by God.
Now the Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We saw his glory – the glory of the one and only, full of grace and truth, who came from the Father. John testified about him and shouted out, “This one was the one about whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is greater than I am, because he existed before me.’” For we have all received from his fullness one gracious gift after another. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came about through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. The only one, himself God, who is in closest fellowship with the Father, has made God known.
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

The Lord be with you.
And al-so with _ you.
Our Fath-er in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.
Your king-dom come,
your will be done on earth
as it is in heav-en.
Give us to-day our dai-ly bread.
For-give us our sins
as we _ for-give those
who sin a-gainst us.
Save us from/the time of tri-al,
De-liver us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the pow-er,
and the glory are yours,
now and for-ever A-men.
Collect of the Day
Be present, O merciful God, and protect us through the hours of this night, so that we who are wearied by the changes and chances of this life may rest in your eternal changelessness; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
A Collect for Peace
Most holy God, the source of all good desires, all right judgements, and all just works: Give to us, your servants, that peace which the world cannot give, so that our minds may be fixed on the doing of your will, and that we, being delivered from the fear of all enemies, may live in peace and quietness; through the mercies of Christ Jesus our Savior.
Amen.
Prayer for Mission
O God and Father of all, whom the whole heavens adore: Let the whole earth also worship you, all nations obey you, all tongues confess and bless you, and men and women everywhere love you and serve you in peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Into your hands, O Lord, I com-mend my spi-rit;
For you have re-deemed me, O Lord, O God of truth.
Keep us, O Lord, as the apple of your eye;
Hide us under the shadow of your wings.
Lord, have mer-cy up-on us.
Christ, have mer-cy up-on us.
Lord, hear our prayer;
And let our cry come to you.
Guide us as we wake, O Lord,
and guard us as we sleep;
that a-wake we may watch with Christ,
and a-sleep we may rest in peace.
Lord, you now have set your serv-ant free
to go in peace as you have prom-ised;
For these eyes of mine have seen the Sav-ior,
whom you have pre-pared for all the world to see:
A Light to en-lighten the na-tions,
and the glory of your people Is-ra-el.
The al-mighty and merci-ful Lord,
Fath-er, Son, and Ho-ly Spi-rit, bless and keep us.
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.
Guide us as we wake, O Lord,
and guard us as we sleep;
that a-wake we may watch with Christ,
and a-sleep we may rest in peace.
