Monday - Evensong Invitation

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Grace to you and peace from God our Fa-ther
and from/the Lord Je-sus Christ.
Wor-ship the Lord in/the beau-ty of his holi-ness;
let the whole earth trem-ble be-fore him.

Let my prayer be set forth in your sight as in-cense,
the lifting up of my hands as the eve-ning sacri-fice.
I will bless the Lord who gives me coun-sel;
my heart teaches me, night after night.

I have set the Lord al-ways be-fore me;
be-cause he is at my right hand, I shall not fall.
O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Monday - O Gracious Light

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

O gra-cious light, pure bright-ness
of the ever-liv-ing Fath-er in heav-en,
O Je-sus Christ, holy and bless-ed!
we sing your prais-es, O God!

Now as we come to/the setting of/the sun,
and our eyes be-hold the ves-per light,
we sing your prais-es, O God:
Fath-er, Son, and Ho-ly Spi-rit.

You are worthy at all times
to be praised by happy voic-es,
O Son of God, O Giver of life,
and to be glori-fied through all the worlds.

Psalms

Psalm 27

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

The Lord de-livers and vindi-cates me!
I fear no one! The Lord pro-tects my life!
I am a-fraid of no one!
When evil men at-tack me to de-vour my flesh,

When my ene-mies at-tack me, they stum-ble and fall.
When/an ar-my is de-ployed a-gainst me, I do not fear.
Even when war is immi-nent, I re-main con-fi-dent.
I have asked the Lord for one thing

This is what I de-sire!
I want to live in/the Lord's house
all the days of my life,
so I can gaze at/the splen-dor of/the Lord

and contem-plate in his tem-ple.
He will surely give me shelter in/the day of dan-ger;
he will hide me in his home;
he will place me on an inac-cessi]-ble rocky sum-mit.

Now I will triumph over my ene-mies who sur-round me!
I will offer sacri-fic-es in his tem-ple and shout for joy!
I will sing praises to/the Lord!
Hear me, O Lord, when I cry out!

Have mer-cy on me and an-swer me!
My heart tells me to pray to you,
and so I do pray to you,
O Lord, don't re-ject me!

Don't push your servant a-way in an-ger!
You are my de-liver-er!
Don't for-sake or a-bandon me,
O God who vindi-cates me!

Even if my parents a-ban-doned me,
the Lord would take me in.
Teach me how you want me to live, Lord;
lead me a-long a level path

Be-cause of those who wait to am-bush me!
Don't turn me over to my ene-mies,
for false wit-nesses testi-fy a-gainst me.
Where would I be if I did not be-lieve in God?

I will ex-pe-rience the Lord's favor in life.
Let us re-ly on/the Lord!
Be strong and con-fi-dent!
Let us re-ly on/the Lord!

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Readings

A reading from Isaiah 43:8-13

Bring out the people who are blind, even though they have eyes,
those who are deaf, even though they have ears!

All nations gather together,
the peoples assemble.
Who among them announced this?
Who predicted earlier events for us?
Let them produce their witnesses to testify they were right;
let them listen and affirm, “It is true.”

“You are my witnesses,” says the Lord,
“my servant whom I have chosen
so that you may consider and believe in me,
and understand that I am he.
No god was formed before me,
and none will outlive me.

I, I am the Lord,
and there is no deliverer besides me.

I decreed and delivered and proclaimed,
and there was no other god among you.
You are my witnesses,” says the Lord, “that I am God.

From this day forward I am he;
no one can deliver from my power;
I will act, and who can prevent it?”

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Monday - Song of Zechariah

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Bless-ed be the Lord, the God of Is-ra-el;
he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty sav-ior,
born of/the house of his servant Da-vid.

Through his holy proph-ets he prom-ised of old,
that he would save us from our ene-mies,
from the hands of all who hate us.
He prom-ised to show mer-cy to our fath-ers

and to re-member his holy cov-e-nant.
This was the oath he swore to our fath-er A-bra-ham,
to set us free from/the hands of our ene-mies,
Free to wor-ship him without fear,

ho-ly and righteous in his sight
all the days of our life.
And you, my child, shall be called
the proph-et of/the Most High,

for you will go be-fore the Lord to pre-pare his way,
To give his people knowledge of sal-va-tion
by the for-give-ness of their sins.
In/the tender com-pas-sion of our God

the dawn from on high shall break up-on us,
To shine on those who dwell in dark-ness
and in/the shadow of death,
and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

A reading from John 14:1-7

“Do not let your hearts be distressed. You believe in God; believe also in me. There are many dwelling places in my Father’s house. Otherwise, I would have told you, because I am going away to make ready a place for you. And if I go and make ready a place for you, I will come again and take you to be with me, so that where I am you may be too. And you know the way where I am going.”

Thomas said, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus replied, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you have known me, you will know my Father too. And from now on you do know him and have seen him.”

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Monday - Song to the Lamb

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Splendor and honor and king-ly power
are yours by right, O Lord our God,
For you cre-ated every-thing that is,
and by your will they were cre-ated and have their be-ing;

And yours by right, O Lamb that was slain,
for with your blood you have re-deemed for God,
From eve-ry fami-ly, lan-guage, people, and na-tion,
a kingdom of priests to serve our God.

And so, to him who sits up-on/the throne,
and to Je-sus Christ the Lamb,
Be worship and praise, do-min-ion and splen-dor,
for-ever and for-ever-more.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Prayers

Monday Creed

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

We be-lieve in God, the Fath-er al-might-y,
cre-a-tor of heaven and earth.
We be-lieve in Je-sus Christ,
his on-ly son, our Lord.

He was con-ceived by/the power of/the Ho-ly Spi-rit
and born of/the Vir-gin Mar-y.
He suffered under Pon-tius Pi-late,
was cruci-fied, died, and was bur-ied.

He de-scended to/the dead.
On the third day he rose a-gain.
He a-scended into heav-en,
and is seated at/the right hand of/the Fath-er.

He will come a-gain
to judge the living and the dead.
We be-lieve in/the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
the _ holy catho-lic Church,

the com-mun-ion of saints,
the for-give-ness of sins,
the resur-rec-tion of/the bod-y,
and the life ever-last-ing. A-men.

Monday - Our Father

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

The Lord be with you.
And al-so with _ you.
Our Fath-er in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.

Your king-dom come,
your will be done on earth
as it is in heav-en.
Give us to-day our dai-ly bread.

For-give us our sins
as we _ for-give those
who sin a-gainst us.
Save us from/the time of tri-al,

De-liver us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the pow-er,
and the glory are yours,
now and for-ever A-men.

Monday - Evening Suffrages B

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

That this eve-ning may be ho-ly, good, and peace-ful,
We en-treat you, O Lord.
That your holy an-gels may lead us in paths of peace and good-will,
We en-treat you, O Lord.

That we may be pardoned and for-given for our sins and of-fens-es,
We en-treat you, O Lord.
That there may be peace to your Church and to/the whole world,
We en-treat you, O Lord.

That we may de-part this life in your faith and fear,
and be freed from con-dem-na-tion
be-fore the great judg-ment seat of Christ,
We en-treat you, O Lord.

That we may be bound to-gether by your Ho-ly Spi-rit
in the com-mun-ion of Barna-bas and all your saints,
en-trust-ing one an-other and all our life to Christ,
We en-treat you, O Lord.

Collect of the Day

Almighty God, Lord of heaven and earth: We humbly pray that your gracious providence may give and preserve to our use the harvests of the land and of the seas, and may prosper all who labor to gather them, that we, who are constantly receiving good things from your hand, may always give you thanks; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

A Collect for Peace

Most holy God, the source of all good desires, all right judgements, and all just works: Give to us, your servants, that peace which the world cannot give, so that our minds may be fixed on the doing of your will, and that we, being delivered from the fear of all enemies, may live in peace and quietness; through the mercies of Christ Jesus our Savior.

Amen.

Prayer for Mission

O God and Father of all, whom the whole heavens adore: Let the whole earth also worship you, all nations obey you, all tongues confess and bless you, and men and women everywhere love you and serve you in peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

A Prayer of Saint Chrysostom

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Al-might-y God,
you have given us grace at this time
with one ac-cord
to make our common sup-pli-ca-tion to you;

and you have prom-ised
through your well-be-loved Son
that when two or three are gathered in his Name
you will be in/the midst of them:

Ful-fill now, O Lord, our de-sires and pe-ti-tions
as may be best for us;
granting us in this world knowl-edge of your truth,
and in/the age to come life ever-lasting. A-men.
