May God bless us!
May God, our God, bless us!
Then all the ends of/the earth
will give him the honor he de-serves.
May God show us his favor and bless us!
May he smile up-on us!
Then those living on earth will know what you are like;
all na-tions will know how you de-liver your peo-ple.
Let foreign-ers re-joice and cel-e-brate!
For you exe-cute jus-tice a-mong the na-tions,
O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.
Psalm 19

The heavens de-clare the glory of God;
the sky dis-plays his handi-work.
Day after day it speaks out;
night after night it re-veals his great-ness.
There is no ac-tual speech or word,
nor is its voice liter-al-ly heard.
Yet its voice echoes through-out the earth;
its words carry to/the dis-tant ho-ri-zon.
In/the sky he has pitched a tent for/the sun.
Like a bride-groom it e-merg-es from its cham-ber;
like a strong man it en-joys running its course.
It e-merges from/the dis-tant ho-ri-zon,
and goes from one end of/the sky to/the oth-er;
noth-ing can es-cape its heat.
The law of/the Lord is per-fect and pre-serves one's life.
The rules set down by/the Lord are re-lia-ble
and im-part wis-dom to/the inex-pe-ri-enced.
The Lord's pre-cepts are fair and make one joy-ful.
The Lord's com-mands are pure and give in-sight for life.
The com-mands to fear the Lord are right and en-dure for-ev-er.
The judg-ments given by/the Lord
are trust-worthy and ab-so-lute-ly just.
They are of greater val-ue than gold,
than even a great a-mount of pure gold;
they bring greater de-light than hon-ey,
than even the sweet-est hon-ey from/a honey-comb.
Yes, your servant finds moral guid-ance there;
those who o-bey them re-ceive a rich re-ward.
Who can know all his er-rors?
Please do not punish me for sins I am una-ware of.
More-over, keep me from com-mItting fla-grant sins;
do not al-low such sins to con-trol me.
Then I will be blame-less,
and inno-cent of bla-tant re-bel-lion.
May my words and my thoughts be ac-cept-able in your sight, O Lord,
my shelter-ing rock and my re-deem-er.
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.
Readings
A reading from Luke 1:67-80
Then his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied,
“Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
because he has come to help and has redeemed his people.
For he has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David,
as he spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from long ago,
that we should be saved from our enemies
and from the hand of all who hate us.
He has done this to show mercy to our ancestors,
and to remember his holy covenant—
the oath that he swore to our ancestor Abraham.
This oath grants
that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies,
may serve him without fear,
in holiness and righteousness before him for as long as we live.
And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High.
For you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways,
to give his people knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins.
Because of our God’s tender mercy,
the dawn will break upon us from on high
to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the way of peace.”
And the child kept growing and becoming strong in spirit, and he was in the wilderness until the day he was revealed to Israel.
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

The Lord be with you.
And al-so with _ you.
Our Fath-er in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.
Your king-dom come,
your will be done on earth
as it is in heav-en.
Give us to-day our dai-ly bread.
For-give us our sins
as we _ for-give those
who sin a-gainst us.
Save us from/the time of tri-al,
De-liver us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the pow-er,
and the glory are yours,
now and for-ever A-men.
Collect of the Day
Almighty Savior, who at noonday called your servant Saint Paul to be an apostle to the Gentiles: We pray you to illumine the world with the radiance of your glory, that all nations may come and worship you; for you live and reign for ever and ever.
Amen.
A Collect for Guidance
Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Prayer for Mission
O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you; bring the nations into your fold; pour out your Spirit upon all flesh; and hasten the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
