May God bless us!
May God, our God, bless us!
Then all the ends of/the earth
will give him the honor he de-serves.
May God show us his favor and bless us!
May he smile up-on us!
Then those living on earth will know what you are like;
all na-tions will know how you de-liver your peo-ple.
Let foreign-ers re-joice and cel-e-brate!
For you exe-cute jus-tice a-mong the na-tions,
O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.
Psalm 132

O Lord, for Da-vid's sake
re-member all his strenu-ous ef-fort,
and how he made/a vow to/the Lord,
and swore an oath to/the Power-ful One of Ja-cob.
He said, I will not enter my own home,
or get into my own bed.
I will not al-low my eyes to sleep,
or my eye-lids to slum-ber,
un-til I find a place for/the Lord,
a fine dwelling place for/the Power-ful One of Ja-cob.
Look, we heard a-bout/it in E-phra-thah,
we found it in/the terri-to-ry of Jaar.
Let us go to his dwelling place!
Let us wor-ship be-fore his foot-stool!
A-scend, O Lord, to your rest-ing place,
you and the ark of your strength!
May your priests be clothed with in-tegri-ty!
May your loyal follow-ers shout for joy!
For the sake of Da-vid, your serv-ant,
do not re-ject your chosen king!
The Lord made a re-lia-ble prom-ise to Da-vid;
he will not go back on his word.
He said, I will place
one of your de-scendants on your throne.
If your sons keep my cove-nant
and the rules I teach them,
their sons will also sit on your throne for-ev-er.
Certain-ly the Lord has cho-sen Zi-on;
he de-cid-ed to make it his home.
He said, This will be my rest-ing place for-ev-er;
I will live here, for I have chosen it.
I will a-bundant-ly sup-ply what she needs;
I will give her poor all/the food they need.
I will pro-tect her priests,
and her god-ly people will shout ex-uber-ant-ly.
There I will make Da-vid strong;
I have de-ter-mined
that my chosen king's dy-nas-ty will con-tin-ue.
I will hu-mili-ate his ene-mies,
and his crown will ev-er shine.
Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.
Readings
A reading from Luke 3:1-9
In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, and Herod was tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip was tetrarch of the region of Iturea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias was tetrarch of Abilene, during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John the son of Zechariah in the wilderness. He went into all the region around the Jordan River, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
As it is written in the book of the words of the prophet Isaiah,
“The voice of one shouting in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make his paths straight.
Every valley will be filled,
and every mountain and hill will be brought low,
and the crooked will be made straight,
and the rough ways will be made smooth,
and all humanity will see the salvation of God.’”
So John said to the crowds that came out to be baptized by him, “You offspring of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? Therefore produce fruit that proves your repentance, and don’t begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that God can raise up children for Abraham from these stones! Even now the ax is laid at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

The Lord be with you.
And al-so with _ you.
Our Fath-er in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.
Your king-dom come,
your will be done on earth
as it is in heav-en.
Give us to-day our dai-ly bread.
For-give us our sins
as we _ for-give those
who sin a-gainst us.
Save us from/the time of tri-al,
De-liver us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the pow-er,
and the glory are yours,
now and for-ever A-men.

Blessed Savior, at this hour you hung upon the cross, stretching out your loving arms: Grant that all the peoples of the earth may look to you and be saved; for your tender mercies' sake.
Amen.
A Collect for Saturdays
Almighty God, who after the creation of the world rested from all your works and sanctified a day of rest for all your creatures: Grant that we, putting away all earthly anxieties, may be duly prepared for the service of your sanctuary, and that our rest here upon earth may be a preparation for the eternal rest promised to your people in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Prayer for Mission
Almighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of your faithful people is governed and sanctified: Receive our supplications and prayers which we offer before you for all members of your holy Church, that in their vocation and ministry they may truly and devoutly serve you; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
