Monday - Daysong Invitation

May God bless us!
May God, our God, bless us!
Then all the ends of/the earth
will give him the honor he de-serves.

May God show us his favor and bless us!
May he smile up-on us!
Then those living on earth will know what you are like;
all na-tions will know how you de-liver your peo-ple.

Let foreign-ers re-joice and cel-e-brate!
For you exe-cute jus-tice a-mong the na-tions,
O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Psalm 120

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

In my dis-tress I cried out to/the Lord
and he an-swered me. I said,
O Lord, res-cue me from those who lie with their lips
and those who de-ceive with their tongues.

How will he se-verely punish you, you de-cep-tive talk-ers?
Heres how! With the sharp arrows of war-ri-ors,
with arrow-heads forged over the hot coals.
How miser-a-ble I am! For I have lived tempo-rar-ily in Me-shech;

I have re-sid-ed a-mong the tents of Ke-dar.
For too long I have had to re-side with those who hate peace.
I am com-mitted to peace,
but when I speak, they want to make war.

Glory to/the Fath-er, and to/the Son,
and to/the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in/the be-ginning, is now,
and will be for-ever A-men.

Readings

A reading from 1 Peter 1:3-9

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he gave us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, that is, into an inheritance imperishable, undefiled, and unfading. It is reserved in heaven for you, who by God’s power are protected through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. This brings you great joy, although you may have to suffer for a short time in various trials. Such trials show the proven character of your faith, which is much more valuable than gold—gold that is tested by fire, even though it is passing away—and will bring praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. You have not seen him, but you love him. You do not see him now but you believe in him, and so you rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy, because you are attaining the goal of your faith—the salvation of your souls.

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Monday - Our Father

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

The Lord be with you.
And al-so with _ you.
Our Fath-er in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.

Your king-dom come,
your will be done on earth
as it is in heav-en.
Give us to-day our dai-ly bread.

For-give us our sins
as we _ for-give those
who sin a-gainst us.
Save us from/the time of tri-al,

De-liver us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the pow-er,
and the glory are yours,
now and for-ever A-men.

Collect of the Day

Almighty Savior, who at noonday called your servant Saint Paul to be an apostle to the Gentiles: We pray you to illumine the world with the radiance of your glory, that all nations may come and worship you; for you live and reign for ever and ever.

Amen.

A Collect for Peace

O God, the King eternal, whose light divides the day from the night and turns the shadow of death into the morning: Drive far from us all wrong desires, incline our hearts to keep your law, and guide our feet into the way of peace; that, having done your will with cheerfulness while it was day, we may, when night comes, rejoice to give you thanks; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Prayer for Mission

O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you; bring the nations into your fold; pour out your Spirit upon all flesh; and hasten the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

The grace of our Lord Je-sus Christ,
and the love of God our Fath-er,
and the fellow-ship of/the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
be with us all ever-more. A-men.

Thanks be to God!
May the God of hope fill us
with all joy and peace in be-liev-ing
through the power of/the Ho-ly Spi-rit. A-men.
