Pentecost - Tuesday Invitation
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
The Lord is in his ho-ly tem-ple;
let all the earth keep si-lence be-fore him
I was glad when they said to me,
Let us go to the house of the Lord.
Let the words of my mouth
and the med-i-ta-tion of my heart
be ac-cep-ta-ble in your sight, O Lord,
my strength and my re-deem-er.
Thus says the high and loft-y One
who in-hab-its e-ter-ni-ty,
whose name is Ho-ly,
I dwell in the high and ho-ly place
Send out your light
and your truth, that they may lead me,
and bring me to your ho-ly hill
and to your dwel-ling place.
Give thanks to the Lord, and call up-on his Name;
make known his deeds a-mong the peo-ples.
Lord, o-pen our lips.
And our mouth shall pro-claim your praise.
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
Tuesday - Venite

Come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us shout for joy to the Rock of our sal-va-tion.
Let us come be-fore his pres-ence with thanks-giv-ing
and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.
For the Lord is a great God,
and a great King a-bove all gods.
In his hand are the cav-erns of the earth,
and the heights of the hills are his al-so.
The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands have mold-ed the dry land.
Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee,
and kneel be-fore the Lord our Mak-er.
For he is our God,
and we are the peo-ple of his pas-ture
and the sheep of his hand.
Oh, that to-day you would heark-en to his voice!
Psalms
Psalm 45
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
My heart is stirred by a beau-ti-ful song.
I say, I have com-posed this spe-cial song for the king;
my tongue is as skilled as the sty-lus of an ex-pe-ri-enced scribe.
You are the most hand-some of all men!
You speak in an im-pres-sive and fit-ting man-ner!
For this rea-son God grants you con-tin-ual bles-sing.
Strap your sword to your thigh, O war-ri-or!
Ap-pear in your ma-jes-tic splen-dor!
Ap-pear in your maj-es-ty and be vic-to-ri-ous!
Ride forth for the sake of what is right,
on be-half of jus-tice!
Then your right hand will ac-com-plish might-y acts!
Your ar-rows are sharp
and pen-e-trate the hearts of the king's en-e-mies.
Na-tions fall at your feet.
Your throne, O God, is per-ma-nent.
The scep-ter of your king-dom is a scep-ter of jus-tice.
You love jus-tice and hate e-vil.
For this rea-son God, your God,
has a-noint-ed you with the oil of joy,
el-e-vat-ing you a-bove your com-pan-ions.
All your gar-ments are per-fumed with myrrh, al-oes, and cas-si-a.
From the lux-u-ri-ous pal-ac-es comes the mu-sic of stringed in-stru-ments.
Prin-cess-es are a-mong your ho-nored women,
Your bride stands be-side you wear-ing jewel-ry of gold from O-phir.
Lis-ten, O prin-cess! Ob-serve and pay at-ten-tion!
For-get your home-land and your fam-i-ly!
Then the king will be at-tract-ed by your beau-ty.
Af-ter all, he is your mas-ter! Sub-mit to him!
Rich peo-ple from Tyre seek your fa-vor by bring-ing a gift.
The prin-cess looks ab-so-lute-ly mag-nif-i-cent,
Decked out in pearls and grace-ful-ly clothed
In a bro-cade trimmed with gold.
In em-broid-ered robes she is es-cort-ed to the king.
Her at-tend-ants, the maid-ens of ho-nor, are led be-fore you.
They are full of joy as they walk in pro-ces-sion into the pal-ace.
Your sons will car-ry on the dy-nas-ty of your an-ces-tors;
you will make them princ-es through-out the land.
I will pro-claim your great-ness through the com-ing years,
Then the na-tions will praise you for-ev-er.
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
Readings
A reading from Sirach 24:1-12
Wisdom will praise herself,
and will glory in the midst of her people.
In the assembly of the Most High she will open her mouth,
and in the presence of his host she will glory:
I came forth from the mouth of the Most High,
and covered the earth like a mist.
I dwelt in high places,
and my throne was in a pillar of cloud.
Alone I have made the circuit of the vault of heaven
and have walked in the depths of the abyss.
In the waves of the sea, in the whole earth,
and in every people and nation I have gotten a possession.
Among all these I sought a resting place;
I sought in whose territory I might lodge.
Then the Creator of all things gave me a commandment,
and the one who created me assigned a place for my tent.
And he said, Make your dwelling in Jacob,
and in Israel receive your inheritance.
From eternity, in the beginning, he created me,
and for eternity I shall not cease to exist.
In the holy tabernacle I ministered before him,
and so I was established in Zion.
In the beloved city likewise he gave me a resting place,
and in Jerusalem was my dominion.
So I took root in an honored people,
in the portion of the Lord, who is their inheritance.
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!
Tuesday - Song of the Redeemed
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
O rul-er of the u-ni-verse, Lord God,
great deeds are they that you have done,
sur-pas-sing hu-man un-der-stand-ing.
Your ways are ways of right-eous-ness and truth,
O King of all the ages.
Who can fail to do you hom-age, Lord,
and sing the prais-es of your Name?
for you on-ly are the Ho-ly One.
All na-tions will draw near
and fall down be-fore you,
be-cause your just and ho-ly works
have been re-vealed. Al-le-lu-ia, a-men!
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
A reading from Luke 11:27-36
As he said these things, a woman in the crowd spoke out to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you and the breasts at which you nursed!” But he replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it!”
As the crowds were increasing, Jesus began to say, “This generation is a wicked generation; it looks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah. For just as Jonah became a sign to the people of Nineveh, so the Son of Man will be a sign to this generation. The queen of the South will rise up at the judgment with the people of this generation and condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon—and now, something greater than Solomon is here! The people of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented when Jonah preached to them—and now, something greater than Jonah is here!
“No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a hidden place or under a basket, but on a lampstand, so that those who come in can see the light. Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light, but when it is diseased, your body is full of darkness. Therefore see to it that the light in you is not darkness. If then your whole body is full of light, with no part in the dark, it will be as full of light as when the light of a lamp shines on you.”
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!
Tuesday - Song of Zechariah
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Bless-ed be the Lord, the God of Is-ra-el;
he has come to his peo-ple and set them free.
He has raised up for us a might-y sav-ior,
born of the house of his serv-ant Da-vid.
Through his ho-ly proph-ets he prom-ised of old,
that he would save us from our en-e-mies,
from the hands of all who hate us.
He prom-ised to show mer-cy to our fath-ers
and to re-mem-ber his ho-ly cov-e-nant.
This was the oath he swore to our fath-er A-bra-ham,
to set us free from the hands of our en-e-mies,
Free to wor-ship him with-out fear,
ho-ly and right-eous in his sight
all the days of our life.
And you, my child, shall be called
the proph-et of the Most High,
for you will go be-fore the Lord to pre-pare his way,
To give his peo-ple knowl-edge of sal-va-tion
by the for-give-ness of their sins.
In the ten-der com-pas-sion of our God
the dawn from on high shall break up-on us,
To shine on those who dwell in dark-ness
and the shad-ow of death,
and to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
Prayers
Tuesday Creed
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
We be-lieve in God, the Fath-er al-might-y,
cre-a-tor of heav-en and earth.
We be-lieve in Je-sus Christ,
his on-ly son, our Lord.
He was con-ceived by the pow-er of the Ho-ly Spi-rit
and born of the Vir-gin Ma-ry.
He suf-fered un-der Pon-tius Pi-late,
was cru-ci-fied, died, and was bur-ied.
He de-scend-ed to the dead.
On the third day he rose a-gain.
He a-scend-ed into heav-en,
and is seat-ed at the right hand of the Fath-er.
He will come a-gain
to judge the liv-ing and the dead.
We be-lieve in the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
the ho-ly cath-o-lic Church,
the com-mun-ion of saints,
the for-give-ness of sins,
the res-ur-rec-tion of the bod-y,
and the life ev-er-last-ing. A-men.
Tuesday - Our Father
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
The Lord be with you.
And al-so with you. A-men.
Our Fath-er in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.
Your king-dom come,
your will be done, on earth as in heav-en.
Give us to-day our dai-ly bread.
For-give us our sins as we for-give those who sin a-gainst us.
Save us from the time of tri-al,
and de-liv-er us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the pow-er, and the glo-ry are yours,
now and for ev-er. A-men.
Tuesday - Morning Suffrages B
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Save your peo-ple, Lord,
and bless your in-her-it-ance;
Gov-ern and guide them, Lord
and up-hold them, now and al-ways.
Day by day we bless you;
We praise your name for ev-er.
Lord, keep us from all sin to-day;
Have mer-cy up-on us, Lord, have mer-cy.
Lord, show us your love and mer-cy;
For we put our trust in you.
In you, Lord, is our hope;
And we shall nev-er hope in vain.
Collect of the Day
Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ in his earthly life shared our toil and hallowed our labor: Be present with your people where they work; make those who carry on the industries and commerce of this land responsive to your will; and give to us all a pride in what we do, and a just return for our labor; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.
A Collect for Peace
O God, the author of peace and lover of concord, to know you is eternal life and to serve you is perfect freedom: Defend us, your humble servants, in all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in your defense, may not fear the power of any adversaries; through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Prayer for Mission
Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hard wood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name.
Amen.
General Thanksgiving
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Al-might-y God, Fa-ther of all mer-cies,
we your un-wor-thy serv-ants give you hum-ble thanks
for all your good-ness and lov-ing kind-ness
to us and to all whom you have made.
We bless you for our cre-a-tion, pres-er-va-tion,
and all the bles-sings of this life;
but a-bove all for your im-meas-ur-a-ble love
in the re-demp-tion of the world by our Lord Je-sus Christ;
for the means of grace, and for the hope of glo-ry.
And, we pray, give us such an a-ware-ness of your mer-cy,
that with tru-ly thank-ful hearts
we may show forth your praise,
not on-ly with our lips, but in our lives,
by giv-ing up our selves to your ser-vice,
and by walk-ing be-fore you
in ho-li-ness and right-eous-ness all our days;
through Je-sus Christ our Lord,
to whom, with you and the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
be ho-nor and glo-ry
through-out all the ag-es. A-men.
