Invitation
Pentecost - Tuesday Invitation
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
The Lord is in his ho-ly tem-ple;
let all the earth keep si-lence be-fore him
I was glad when they said to me,
Let us go to the house of the Lord.
Let the words of my mouth
and the med-i-ta-tion of my heart
be ac-cep-ta-ble in your sight, O Lord,
my strength and my re-deem-er.
Thus says the high and loft-y One
who in-hab-its e-ter-ni-ty,
whose name is Ho-ly,
I dwell in the high and ho-ly place
Send out your light
and your truth, that they may lead me,
and bring me to your ho-ly hill
and to your dwel-ling place.
Give thanks to the Lord, and call up-on his Name;
make known his deeds a-mong the peo-ples.
Lord, o-pen our lips.
And our mouth shall pro-claim your praise.
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
Tuesday - Jubilate
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Be joy-ful in the Lord, all you lands;
serve the Lord with glad-ness
and come be-fore his pres-ence with a song.
Know this: The Lord him-self is God;
He him-self has made us, and we are his;
we are his peo-ple and the sheep of his pas-ture.
En-ter his gates with thanks-giv-ing;
go into his courts with praise;
Give thanks to him and call up-on his Name.
Be-cause the Lord is good;
his mer-cy is ev-er last-ing;
and his faith-ful-ness en-dures from age to age.
Psalms
Psalm 26
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Vin-di-cate me, O Lord, for I have in-teg-ri-ty,
and I trust in the Lord with-out wav-er-ing.
Ex-am-ine me, O Lord, and test me!
E-val-u-ate my in-ner thoughts and mo-tives!
For I am ev-er a-ware of your faith-ful-ness,
and your loy-al-ty con-tin-ual-ly mo-ti-vates me.
I do not as-so-ci-ate with de-ceit-ful men,
or con-sort with those who are dis-hon-est.
I hate the mob of e-vil men,
and do not as-so-ci-ate with the wick-ed.
I main-tain a pure life-style,
so I can ap-pear be-fore your al-tar, O Lord,
to give you thanks,
and to tell a-bout all your a-maz-ing deeds.
O Lord, I love the tem-ple where you live,
the place where your splen-dor is re-vealed.
Do not sweep me a-way with sin-ner,
or ex-e-cute me a-long with vio-lent peo-ple,
who are al-ways read-y to do wrong or of-fer a bribe.
But I have in-teg-ri-ty!
Res-cue me and have mer-cy on me!
I am safe, and a-mong the wor-ship-ers
I will praise the Lord.
and bless his name for-ev-er
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
Psalm 28
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
To you, O Lord, I cry out!
My pro-tec-tor, do not ig-nore me!
If you do not re-spond to me,
I will join those who are de-scend-ing into the grave.
Hear my plea for mer-cy
when I cry out to you for help,
when I lift my hands toward your ho-ly tem-ple!
Do not drag me a-way with e-vil men,
Or with those who be-have wick-ed-ly,
who talk so friend-ly to their neigh-bor,
while they plan to harm them!
Pay them back for their e-vil deeds!
Pay them back for what they do! Pun-ish them!
For they do not un-der-stand the Lord's ac-tions,
or the way he car-ries out jus-tice.
The Lord will per-ma-nent-ly de-mol-ish them.
The Lord de-serves my praise,
For he has heard my plea for mer-cy!
The Lord strength-ens and pro-tects me;
I trust in him with all my heart.
I am res-cued and my heart is full of joy;
I will sing to him in grat-i-tude.
The Lord strength-ens his peo-ple;
he pro-tects and de-liv-ers his cho-sen king.
De-liv-er your peo-ple, O God!
Em-pow-er the na-tions that be-longs to you!
Care for them like a shep-herd
and car-ry them in your arms at all times!
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
Readings
A reading from Sirach 6:5-17
A pleasant voice multiplies friends,
and a gracious tongue multiplies courtesies.
Let those that are at peace with you be many,
but let your advisers be one in a thousand.
When you gain a friend, gain him through testing,
and do not trust him hastily.
For there is a friend who is such at his own convenience,
but will not stand by you in your day of trouble.
And there is a friend who changes into an enemy,
and will disclose a quarrel to your disgrace.
And there is a friend who is a table companion,
but will not stand by you in your day of trouble.
In prosperity he will make himself your equal,
and be bold with your servants;
but if you are brought low he will turn against you,
and will hide himself from your presence.
Keep yourself far from your enemies,
and be on guard toward your friends.
A faithful friend is a sturdy shelter:
he that has found one has found a treasure.
There is nothing so precious as a faithful friend,
and no scales can measure his excellence.
A faithful friend is an elixir of life;
and those who fear the Lord will find him.
Whoever fears the Lord directs his friendship aright,
for as he is, so is his neighbor also.
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!
Tuesday - Song of the Redeemed
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
O rul-er of the u-ni-verse, Lord God,
great deeds are they that you have done,
sur-pas-sing hu-man un-der-stand-ing.
Your ways are ways of right-eous-ness and truth,
O King of all the ages.
Who can fail to do you hom-age, Lord,
and sing the prais-es of your Name?
for you on-ly are the Ho-ly One.
All na-tions will draw near
and fall down be-fore you,
be-cause your just and ho-ly works
have been re-vealed. Al-le-lu-ia, a-men!
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
A reading from Luke 10:1-16
After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him two by two into every town and place where he himself was about to go. He said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest. Go! I am sending you out like lambs surrounded by wolves. Do not carry a money bag, a traveler’s bag, or sandals, and greet no one on the road. Whenever you enter a house, first say, ‘May peace be on this house!’ And if a peace-loving person is there, your peace will remain on him, but if not, it will return to you. Stay in that same house, eating and drinking what they give you, for the worker deserves his pay. Do not move around from house to house. Whenever you enter a town and the people welcome you, eat what is set before you. Heal the sick in that town and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come upon you!’ But whenever you enter a town and the people do not welcome you, go into its streets and say, ‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this: The kingdom of God has come.’ I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town!
“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you! And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? No, you will be thrown down to Hades!
“The one who listens to you listens to me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!
Tuesday - Song of Zechariah
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Bless-ed be the Lord, the God of Is-ra-el;
he has come to his peo-ple and set them free.
He has raised up for us a might-y sav-ior,
born of the house of his serv-ant Da-vid.
Through his ho-ly proph-ets he prom-ised of old,
that he would save us from our en-e-mies,
from the hands of all who hate us.
He prom-ised to show mer-cy to our fath-ers
and to re-mem-ber his ho-ly cov-e-nant.
This was the oath he swore to our fath-er A-bra-ham,
to set us free from the hands of our en-e-mies,
Free to wor-ship him with-out fear,
ho-ly and right-eous in his sight
all the days of our life.
And you, my child, shall be called
the proph-et of the Most High,
for you will go be-fore the Lord to pre-pare his way,
To give his peo-ple knowl-edge of sal-va-tion
by the for-give-ness of their sins.
In the ten-der com-pas-sion of our God
the dawn from on high shall break up-on us,
To shine on those who dwell in dark-ness
and the shad-ow of death,
and to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
Prayers
Tuesday Creed
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
We be-lieve in God, the Fath-er al-might-y,
cre-a-tor of heav-en and earth.
We be-lieve in Je-sus Christ,
his on-ly son, our Lord.
He was con-ceived by the pow-er of the Ho-ly Spi-rit
and born of the Vir-gin Ma-ry.
He suf-fered un-der Pon-tius Pi-late,
was cru-ci-fied, died, and was bur-ied.
He de-scend-ed to the dead.
On the third day he rose a-gain.
He a-scend-ed into heav-en,
and is seat-ed at the right hand of the Fath-er.
He will come a-gain
to judge the liv-ing and the dead.
We be-lieve in the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
the ho-ly cath-o-lic Church,
the com-mun-ion of saints,
the for-give-ness of sins,
the res-ur-rec-tion of the bod-y,
and the life ev-er-last-ing. A-men.
Tuesday - Our Father
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
The Lord be with you.
And al-so with you. A-men.
Our Fath-er in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.
Your king-dom come,
your will be done, on earth as in heav-en.
Give us to-day our dai-ly bread.
For-give us our sins as we for-give those who sin a-gainst us.
Save us from the time of tri-al,
and de-liv-er us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the pow-er, and the glo-ry are yours,
now and for ev-er. A-men.
Tuesday - Morning Suffrages A
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Show us your mer-cy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.
Clothe your min-is-ters with right-eous-ness;
Let your peo-ple sing with joy.
Give peace, O Lord, in all the world;
For on-ly in you can we live in safe-ty.
Lord, keep this na-tion un-der your care;
And guide us in the way of jus-tice and truth.
Let your way be known up-on earth;
Your sav-ing health a-mong all na-tions.
Let not the need-y, O Lord, be for-got-ten;
Nor the hope of the poor be tak-en a-way.
Cre-ate in us clean hearts, O God;
And sus-tain us with your Ho-ly Spi-rit.
Show us your mer-cy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.
Collect of the Day
Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ in his earthly life shared our toil and hallowed our labor: Be present with your people where they work; make those who carry on the industries and commerce of this land responsive to your will; and give to us all a pride in what we do, and a just return for our labor; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.
A Collect for Peace
O God, the author of peace and lover of concord, to know you is eternal life and to serve you is perfect freedom: Defend us, your humble servants, in all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in your defense, may not fear the power of any adversaries; through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Prayer for Mission
Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hard wood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name.
Amen.
General Thanksgiving
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Al-might-y God, Fa-ther of all mer-cies,
we your un-wor-thy serv-ants give you hum-ble thanks
for all your good-ness and lov-ing kind-ness
to us and to all whom you have made.
We bless you for our cre-a-tion, pres-er-va-tion,
and all the bles-sings of this life;
but a-bove all for your im-meas-ur-a-ble love
in the re-demp-tion of the world by our Lord Je-sus Christ;
for the means of grace, and for the hope of glo-ry.
And, we pray, give us such an a-ware-ness of your mer-cy,
that with tru-ly thank-ful hearts
we may show forth your praise,
not on-ly with our lips, but in our lives,
by giv-ing up our selves to your ser-vice,
and by walk-ing be-fore you
in ho-li-ness and right-eous-ness all our days;
through Je-sus Christ our Lord,
to whom, with you and the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
be ho-nor and glo-ry
through-out all the ag-es. A-men.
