Invitation
Pentecost - Saturday Invitation
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
The Lord is in his ho-ly tem-ple;
let all the earth keep si-lence be-fore him
I was glad when they said to me,
Let us go to the house of the Lord.
Let the words of my mouth
and the med-i-ta-tion of my heart
be ac-cep-ta-ble in your sight, O Lord,
my strength and my re-deem-er.
Thus says the high and loft-y One
who in-hab-its e-ter-ni-ty,
whose name is Ho-ly,
I dwell in the high and ho-ly place
Send out your light
and your truth, that they may lead me,
and bring me to your ho-ly hill
and to your dwel-ling place.
Give thanks to the Lord, and call up-on his Name;
make known his deeds a-mong the peo-ples.
Lord, o-pen our lips.
And our mouth shall pro-claim your praise.
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
Saturday - Jubilate
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Be joy-ful in the Lord, all you lands;
serve the Lord with glad-ness
and come be-fore his pres-ence with a song.
Know this: The Lord him-self is God;
He him-self has made us, and we are his;
we are his peo-ple and the sheep of his pas-ture.
En-ter his gates with thanks-giv-ing;
go into his courts with praise;
Give thanks to him and call up-on his Name.
Be-cause the Lord is good;
his mer-cy is ev-er last-ing;
and his faith-ful-ness en-dures from age to age.
Psalms
Psalm 30
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
I will praise you, O Lord, for you lift-ed me up,
and did not al-low my en-e-mies to gloat o-ver me.
O Lord my God, I cried out to you and you healed me.
O Lord, you pulled me up from She-ol;
you res-cued me from a-mong those de-scend-ing into the grave.
Sing to the Lord, you faith-ful fol-low-ers of his;
give thanks to his ho-ly name.
For his an-ger lasts on-ly a brief mo-ment,
and his good fa-vor re-stores one's life.
One may ex-pe-ri-ence sor-row dur-ing the night,
but joy ar-rives in the morn-ing.
In my self-con-fi-dence I said, I will nev-er be shak-en.
O Lord, in your good fa-vor you made me se-cure.
Then you re-ject-ed me and I was ter-ri-fied.
To you, O Lord, I cried out;
I begged the Lord for mer-cy:
What prof-it is there in tak-ing my life,
in my de-scend-ing into the Pit?
Can the dust of the grave praise you?
Can it de-clare your loy-al-ty?
Hear, O Lord, and have mer-cy on me!
O Lord my God, de-liv-er me!
Then you turned my la-ment into danc-ing;
you re-moved my sack-cloth
You cov-ered me with joy.
So now my heart will sing to you
and I will not be si-lent;
O Lord my God, I will al-ways give thanks to you.
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
Psalm 32
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
How bless-ed is the one
whose re-bel-lious acts are for-giv-en,
and whose sin is par-doned!
How bless-ed is the one whose wrong-do-ing the Lord does not pun-ish,
in whose spi-rit there is no de-ceit.
When I re-fused to con-fess my sin,
my whole bod-y wast-ed a-way,
while I groaned in pain all day long.
For day and night you tor-ment-ed me;
you tried to de-stroy me in the in-tense heat of sum-mer.
Then I con-fessed my sin;
I no long-er cov-ered up my wrong-do-ing.
I said, I will con-fess my re-bel-lious acts to the Lord.
And then you for-gave my sins.
So eve-ry one of your faith-ful fol-low-ers should pray to you
while there is a win-dow of op-por-tu-ni-ty.
Cer-tain-ly when the surg-ing waters rise,
They will not reach to them.
You are my hid-ing place;
you pro-tect me from all dis-tress.
You sur-round me with shouts of joy
from those cel-e-brat-ing de-liv-er-ance.
I will in-struct and teach you
a-bout how you should live.
I will ad-vise you as I look you in the eye.
Do not be like an un-in-tel-li-gent horse or mule,
which will not o-bey you
unless they are con-trolled by a bri-dle and bit.
An e-vil per-son suf-fers much pain,
but the Lord's faith-ful-ness o-ver-whelms the one who trusts in him.
Re-joice in the Lord and be hap-py, you who are god-ly!
Shout for joy, all you who are mor-al-ly up-right!
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
Readings
A reading from Sirach 15:9-20
A hymn of praise is not fitting on the lips of a sinner,
for it has not been sent from the Lord.
For a hymn of praise should be uttered in wisdom,
and the Lord will prosper it.
Do not say, Because of the Lord I left the right way;
for he will not do what he hates.
Do not say, It was he who led me astray;
for he had no need of a sinful man.
The Lord hates all abominations,
and they are not loved by those who fear him.
It was he who created man in the beginning,
and he left him in the power of his own inclination.
If you will, you can keep the commandments,
and to act faithfully is a matter of your own choice.
He has placed before you fire and water:
stretch out your hand for whichever you wish.
Before a man are life and death,
and whichever he chooses will be given to him.
For great is the wisdom of the Lord;
he is mighty in power and sees everything;
his eyes are on those who fear him,
and he knows every deed of man.
He has not commanded any one to be ungodly,
and he has not given any one permission to sin.
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!
Saturday - Third Song of Isaiah
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
A-rise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glo-ry of the Lord has dawned up-on you.
For be-hold, dark-ness co-vers the land;
deep gloom en-shrouds the peo-ples.
But o-ver you the Lord will rise,
and his glo-ry will ap-pear up-on you.
Na-tions will stream to your light,
and kings to the bright-ness of your dawn-ing.
Your gates will al-ways be o-pen;
by day or night they will nev-er be shut.
They will call you, The Cit-y of the Lord,
The Zi-on of the Ho-ly One of Is-ra-el.
Vio-lence will no more be heard in your land,
ru-in or de-struc-tion with-in your bor-ders.
You will call your wall, Sal-va-tion,
and all your por-tals, Praise.
The sun will no more be your light by day;
by night you will not need the bright-ness of the moon.
The Lord will be your ev-er-last-ing light,
and your God will be your glo-ry.
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
A reading from Luke 11:1-13
Now Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he stopped, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” So he said to them, “When you pray, say:
“‘Father, may your name be honored;
may your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread,
and forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.
And do not lead us into temptation.’”
Then he said to them, “Suppose one of you has a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, because a friend of mine has stopped here while on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him.’ Then he will reply from inside, ‘Do not bother me. The door is already shut, and my children and I are in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything.’ I tell you, even though the man inside will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of the first man’s sheer persistence he will get up and give him whatever he needs.
“So I tell you: Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. What father among you, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, although you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!
Saturday - You are God
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
You are God: we praise you;
You are the Lord; we ac-claim you;
You are the e-ter-nal Fath-er:
All cre-a-tion wor-ships you.
To you all an-gels, all the pow-ers of heav-en,
Cher-u-bim and Ser-a-phim, sing in end-less praise:
Ho-ly, ho-ly, ho-ly Lord, God of pow-er and might,
heav-en and earth are full of your glo-ry.
The glo-ri-ous com-pa-ny of a-pos-tles praise you.
The no-ble fel-low-ship of proph-ets praise you.
The white robed ar-my of mar-tyrs praise you.
Through-out the world the ho-ly Church ac-claims you;
Fath-er, of maj-es-ty un-bound-ed,
your true and on-ly Son, wor-thy of all wor-ship,
and the Ho-ly Spi-rit, ad-vo-cate and guide.
Three in one, we praise you for ev-er.
You, Christ, are the king of glo-ry,
the e-ter-nal Son of the Fath-er.
When you be-came man to set us free
you did not shun the Vir-gin's womb.
You o-ver-came the sting of death
and o-pened the king-dom of heav-en to all be-liev-ers.
You are seat-ed at Gods right hand in glo-ry.
We be-lieve that you will come and be our judge.
Come then, Lord, and help your peo-ple,
bought with the price of your own blood,
and bring us with your saints
to glo-ry ev-er-last-ing.
Prayers
Saturday Creed
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
We be-lieve in God, the Fath-er al-might-y,
cre-a-tor of heav-en and earth.
We be-lieve in Je-sus Christ,
his on-ly son, our Lord.
He was con-ceived by the pow-er of the Ho-ly Spi-rit
and born of the Vir-gin Ma-ry.
He suf-fered un-der Pon-tius Pi-late,
was cru-ci-fied, died, and was bur-ied.
He de-scend-ed to the dead.
On the third day he rose a-gain.
He a-scend-ed into heav-en,
and is seat-ed at the right hand of the Fath-er.
He will come a-gain
to judge the liv-ing and the dead.
We be-lieve in the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
the ho-ly cath-o-lic Church,
the com-mun-ion of saints,
the for-give-ness of sins,
the res-ur-rec-tion of the bod-y,
and the life ev-er-last-ing. A-men.
Saturday - Our Father
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
The Lord be with you.
And al-so with you. A-men.
Our Fath-er in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.
Your king-dom come,
your will be done, on earth as in heav-en.
Give us to-day our dai-ly bread.
For-give us our sins as we for-give those who sin a-gainst us.
Save us from the time of tri-al,
and de-liv-er us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the pow-er, and the glo-ry are yours,
now and for ev-er. A-men.
Saturday - Morning Suffrages A
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Show us your mer-cy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.
Clothe your min-is-ters with right-eous-ness;
Let your peo-ple sing with joy.
Give peace, O Lord, in all the world;
For on-ly in you can we live in safe-ty.
Lord, keep this na-tion un-der your care;
And guide us in the way of jus-tice and truth.
Let your way be known up-on earth;
Your sav-ing health a-mong all na-tions.
Let not the need-y, O Lord, be for-got-ten;
Nor the hope of the poor be tak-en a-way.
Cre-ate in us clean hearts, O God;
And sus-tain us with your Ho-ly Spi-rit.
Show us your mer-cy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.
Collects of the Day
O God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as surpass our understanding: Pour into our hearts such love towards you, that we, loving you in all things and above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
A Collect for Saturdays
Almighty God, who after the creation of the world rested from all your works and sanctified a day of rest for all your creatures: Grant that we, putting away all earthly anxieties, may be duly prepared for the service of your sanctuary, and that our rest here upon earth may be a preparation for the eternal rest promised to your people in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Prayer for Mission
Almighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of your faithful people is governed and sanctified: Receive our supplications and prayers which we offer before you for all members of your holy Church, that in their vocation and ministry they may truly and devoutly serve you; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Amen.
General Thanksgiving
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Al-might-y God, Fa-ther of all mer-cies,
we your un-wor-thy serv-ants give you hum-ble thanks
for all your good-ness and lov-ing kind-ness
to us and to all whom you have made.
We bless you for our cre-a-tion, pres-er-va-tion,
and all the bles-sings of this life;
but a-bove all for your im-meas-ur-a-ble love
in the re-demp-tion of the world by our Lord Je-sus Christ;
for the means of grace, and for the hope of glo-ry.
And, we pray, give us such an a-ware-ness of your mer-cy,
that with tru-ly thank-ful hearts
we may show forth your praise,
not on-ly with our lips, but in our lives,
by giv-ing up our selves to your ser-vice,
and by walk-ing be-fore you
in ho-li-ness and right-eous-ness all our days;
through Je-sus Christ our Lord,
to whom, with you and the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
be ho-nor and glo-ry
through-out all the ag-es. A-men.
