Pentecost - Saturday Invitation
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
The Lord is in his ho-ly tem-ple;
let all the earth keep si-lence be-fore him
I was glad when they said to me,
Let us go to the house of the Lord.
Let the words of my mouth
and the med-i-ta-tion of my heart
be ac-cep-ta-ble in your sight, O Lord,
my strength and my re-deem-er.
Thus says the high and loft-y One
who in-hab-its e-ter-ni-ty,
whose name is Ho-ly,
I dwell in the high and ho-ly place
Send out your light
and your truth, that they may lead me,
and bring me to your ho-ly hill
and to your dwel-ling place.
Give thanks to the Lord, and call up-on his Name;
make known his deeds a-mong the peo-ples.
Lord, o-pen our lips.
And our mouth shall pro-claim your praise.
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
Saturday - Jubilate
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Be joy-ful in the Lord, all you lands;
serve the Lord with glad-ness
and come be-fore his pres-ence with a song.
Know this: The Lord him-self is God;
He him-self has made us, and we are his;
we are his peo-ple and the sheep of his pas-ture.
En-ter his gates with thanks-giv-ing;
go into his courts with praise;
Give thanks to him and call up-on his Name.
Be-cause the Lord is good;
his mer-cy is ev-er last-ing;
and his faith-ful-ness en-dures from age to age.
Psalms
Psalm 137
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
By the riv-ers of Bab-y-lon we sit down
and weep when we re-mem-ber Zi-on.
On the pop-lars in her midst we hang our harps,
for there our cap-tors ask us to com-pose songs;
Those who mock us de-mand that we be hap-py,
say-ing: Sing for us a song a-bout Zi-on!
How can we sing a song to the Lord
while cap-tives here in a for-eign land?
If I for-get you, O Je-ru-sa-lem,
may my right hand be crip-pled!
May my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth,
if I do not re-mem-ber you,
if I do not give Je-ru-sa-lem pri-or-i-ty
o-ver what-ev-er gives me the most joy.
Re-mem-ber, O Lord, what the E-dom-ites did
on the day Je-ru-sa-lem fell.
They said, Tear it down,
tear it down, right to its ver-y foun-da-tions!
O daugh-ter Bab-y-lon,
soon to be dev-as-tat-ed!
How bless-ed will be the one who re-pays you
for what you dished out to us!
How bless-ed will be the one who grabs your ba-bies
and smash-es them on a rock!
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
Psalm 144
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
The Lord, our pro-tec-tor,
The Lord de-serves our praise
the one who trains my hands for bat-tle,
and my fin-gers for war,
He who loves me and is my strong-hold,
my ref-uge and my de-liv-er-er,
my shield and the one in whom I take shel-ter,
who makes na-tions sub-mit to me.
O Lord, of what im-port-ance is the hu-man race,
that you should no-tice them?
Of what im-port-ance is man-kind,
that you should be con-cerned a-bout them?
Peo-ple are like a va-por,
their days like a shad-ow that dis-ap-pears.
O Lord, make the sky sink and come down!
Touch the moun-tains and make them smol-der!
Hurl light-ning bolts and scat-ter them!
Shoot your ar-rows and rout them!
Reach down from a-bove!
Grab me and res-cue me from the surg-ing wat-er,
From the pow-er of for-eign-ers,
who speak lies, and make false prom-is-es.
O God, I will sing a new song to you!
Ac-com-pa-nied by a stringed in-stru-ment,
I will sing prais-es to you,
the one who de-liv-ers kings,
and res-cued Da-vid his serv-ant
from the blood thirst-y sword.
Grab me and res-cue me
from the pow-er of for-eign-ers,
who speak false-hoods,
and make false prom-is-es.
Then our sons will be like plants,
that quick-ly grow to full size.
Our daugh-ters will be like cor-ner pil-lars,
carved like those in a pal-ace.
Our store-hous-es will be full,
pro-vid-ing all kinds of food.
Our sheep will mul-ti-ply by the thou-sands
and fill all our pas-tures.
Our cat-tle will be weight-ed down with pro-duce.
No one will break through our walls,
no one will be tak-en cap-tive,
and there will be no ter-ri-fied cries in our cit-y squares.
How bless-ed are the peo-ple
who ex-pe-ri-ence these things!
How bless-ed are the peo-ple
whose God is the Lord! A-men!
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
Readings
A reading from Micah 5:1-4, 10-15
(4:14) But now slash yourself, daughter surrounded by soldiers!
We are besieged!
With a scepter they strike Israel’s ruler
on the side of his face.
(5:1) As for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
seemingly insignificant among the clans of Judah—
from you a king will emerge who will rule over Israel on my behalf,
one whose origins are in the distant past.
So the Lord will hand the people of Israel over to their enemies
until the time when the woman in labor gives birth.
Then the rest of the king’s countrymen will return
to be reunited with the people of Israel.
He will assume his post and shepherd the people by the Lord’s strength,
by the sovereign authority of the Lord his God.
They will live securely, for at that time he will be honored
even in the distant regions of the earth.
“In that day,” says the Lord,
“I will destroy your horses from your midst
and smash your chariots.
I will destroy the cities of your land
and tear down all your fortresses.
I will remove the sorcery that you practice,
and you will no longer have omen readers living among you.
I will remove your idols and sacred pillars from your midst;
you will no longer worship what your own hands made.
I will uproot your images of Asherah from your midst
and destroy your idols.
With furious anger I will carry out vengeance
on the nations that do not obey me.”
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!
Saturday - Third Song of Isaiah
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
A-rise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glo-ry of the Lord has dawned up-on you.
For be-hold, dark-ness co-vers the land;
deep gloom en-shrouds the peo-ples.
But o-ver you the Lord will rise,
and his glo-ry will ap-pear up-on you.
Na-tions will stream to your light,
and kings to the bright-ness of your dawn-ing.
Your gates will al-ways be o-pen;
by day or night they will nev-er be shut.
They will call you, The Cit-y of the Lord,
The Zi-on of the Ho-ly One of Is-ra-el.
Vio-lence will no more be heard in your land,
ru-in or de-struc-tion with-in your bor-ders.
You will call your wall, Sal-va-tion,
and all your por-tals, Praise.
The sun will no more be your light by day;
by night you will not need the bright-ness of the moon.
The Lord will be your ev-er-last-ing light,
and your God will be your glo-ry.
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
A reading from Luke 8:16-25
“No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lampstand so that those who come in can see the light. For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, and nothing concealed that will not be made known and brought to light. So listen carefully, for whoever has will be given more, but whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken from him.”
Now Jesus’ mother and his brothers came to him, but they could not get near him because of the crowd. So he was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.” But he replied to them, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.”
One day Jesus got into a boat with his disciples and said to them, “Let’s go across to the other side of the lake.” So they set out, and as they sailed he fell asleep. Now a violent windstorm came down on the lake, and the boat started filling up with water, and they were in danger. They came and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are about to die!” So he got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waves; they died down, and it was calm. Then he said to them, “Where is your faith?” But they were afraid and amazed, saying to one another, “Who then is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him!”
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!
Saturday - You are God
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
You are God: we praise you;
You are the Lord; we ac-claim you;
You are the e-ter-nal Fath-er:
All cre-a-tion wor-ships you.
To you all an-gels, all the pow-ers of heav-en,
Cher-u-bim and Ser-a-phim, sing in end-less praise:
Ho-ly, ho-ly, ho-ly Lord, God of pow-er and might,
heav-en and earth are full of your glo-ry.
The glo-ri-ous com-pa-ny of a-pos-tles praise you.
The no-ble fel-low-ship of proph-ets praise you.
The white robed ar-my of mar-tyrs praise you.
Through-out the world the ho-ly Church ac-claims you;
Fath-er, of maj-es-ty un-bound-ed,
your true and on-ly Son, wor-thy of all wor-ship,
and the Ho-ly Spi-rit, ad-vo-cate and guide.
Three in one, we praise you for ev-er.
You, Christ, are the king of glo-ry,
the e-ter-nal Son of the Fath-er.
When you be-came man to set us free
you did not shun the Vir-gin's womb.
You o-ver-came the sting of death
and o-pened the king-dom of heav-en to all be-liev-ers.
You are seat-ed at Gods right hand in glo-ry.
We be-lieve that you will come and be our judge.
Come then, Lord, and help your peo-ple,
bought with the price of your own blood,
and bring us with your saints
to glo-ry ev-er-last-ing.
Prayers
Saturday Creed
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
We be-lieve in God, the Fath-er al-might-y,
cre-a-tor of heav-en and earth.
We be-lieve in Je-sus Christ,
his on-ly son, our Lord.
He was con-ceived by the pow-er of the Ho-ly Spi-rit
and born of the Vir-gin Ma-ry.
He suf-fered un-der Pon-tius Pi-late,
was cru-ci-fied, died, and was bur-ied.
He de-scend-ed to the dead.
On the third day he rose a-gain.
He a-scend-ed into heav-en,
and is seat-ed at the right hand of the Fath-er.
He will come a-gain
to judge the liv-ing and the dead.
We be-lieve in the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
the ho-ly cath-o-lic Church,
the com-mun-ion of saints,
the for-give-ness of sins,
the res-ur-rec-tion of the bod-y,
and the life ev-er-last-ing. A-men.
Saturday - Our Father
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
The Lord be with you.
And al-so with you. A-men.
Our Fath-er in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.
Your king-dom come,
your will be done, on earth as in heav-en.
Give us to-day our dai-ly bread.
For-give us our sins as we for-give those who sin a-gainst us.
Save us from the time of tri-al,
and de-liv-er us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the pow-er, and the glo-ry are yours,
now and for ev-er. A-men.

Show us your mer-cy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.
Clothe your min-is-ters with right-eous-ness;
Let your peo-ple sing with joy.
Give peace, O Lord, in all the world;
For on-ly in you can we live in safe-ty.
Lord, keep this na-tion un-der your care;
And guide us in the way of jus-tice and truth.
Let your way be known up-on earth;
Your sav-ing health a-mong all na-tions.
Let not the need-y, O Lord, be for-got-ten;
Nor the hope of the poor be tak-en a-way.
Cre-ate in us clean hearts, O God;
And sus-tain us with your Ho-ly Spi-rit.
Show us your mer-cy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.
Collects of the Day
O God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as surpass our understanding: Pour into our hearts such love towards you, that we, loving you in all things and above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
A Collect for Saturdays
Almighty God, who after the creation of the world rested from all your works and sanctified a day of rest for all your creatures: Grant that we, putting away all earthly anxieties, may be duly prepared for the service of your sanctuary, and that our rest here upon earth may be a preparation for the eternal rest promised to your people in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Prayer for Mission
Almighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of your faithful people is governed and sanctified: Receive our supplications and prayers which we offer before you for all members of your holy Church, that in their vocation and ministry they may truly and devoutly serve you; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Amen.
General Thanksgiving
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Al-might-y God, Fa-ther of all mer-cies,
we your un-wor-thy serv-ants give you hum-ble thanks
for all your good-ness and lov-ing kind-ness
to us and to all whom you have made.
We bless you for our cre-a-tion, pres-er-va-tion,
and all the bles-sings of this life;
but a-bove all for your im-meas-ur-a-ble love
in the re-demp-tion of the world by our Lord Je-sus Christ;
for the means of grace, and for the hope of glo-ry.
And, we pray, give us such an a-ware-ness of your mer-cy,
that with tru-ly thank-ful hearts
we may show forth your praise,
not on-ly with our lips, but in our lives,
by giv-ing up our selves to your ser-vice,
and by walk-ing be-fore you
in ho-li-ness and right-eous-ness all our days;
through Je-sus Christ our Lord,
to whom, with you and the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
be ho-nor and glo-ry
through-out all the ag-es. A-men.
