Pentecost - Monday Invitation
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
The Lord is in his ho-ly tem-ple;
let all the earth keep si-lence be-fore him
I was glad when they said to me,
Let us go to the house of the Lord.
Let the words of my mouth
and the med-i-ta-tion of my heart
be ac-cep-ta-ble in your sight, O Lord,
my strength and my re-deem-er.
Thus says the high and loft-y One
who in-hab-its e-ter-ni-ty,
whose name is Ho-ly,
I dwell in the high and ho-ly place
Send out your light
and your truth, that they may lead me,
and bring me to your ho-ly hill
and to your dwel-ling place.
Give thanks to the Lord, and call up-on his Name;
make known his deeds a-mong the peo-ples.
Lord, o-pen our lips.
And our mouth shall pro-claim your praise.
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.

Come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us shout for joy to the Rock of our sal-va-tion.
Let us come be-fore his pres-ence with thanks-giv-ing
and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.
For the Lord is a great God,
and a great King a-bove all gods.
In his hand are the cav-erns of the earth,
and the heights of the hills are his al-so.
The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands have mold-ed the dry land.
Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee,
and kneel be-fore the Lord our Mak-er.
For he is our God,
and we are the peo-ple of his pas-ture
and the sheep of his hand.
Oh, that to-day you would heark-en to his voice!
Psalms
Psalm 25
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
O Lord, I come be-fore you in prayer.
My God, I trust in you.
Please do not let me be hu-mil-i-at-ed;
do not let my en-e-mies tri-um-phant-ly re-joice o-ver me!
Cer-tain-ly none who re-ly on you will be hu-mil-i-at-ed.
Those who deal in treach-er-y will be thwart-ed and a-shamed.
Make me un-der-stand your ways,
O Lord! Teach me your paths!
Guide me into your truth and teach me.
For you are the God who de-liv-ers me;
on you I re-ly all day long.
Re-mem-ber your com-pas-sion-ate and faith-ful deeds, O Lord,
for you have al-ways acted in this man-ner.
Do not hold a-gainst me the sins of my youth
or my re-bel-lious acts!
Be-cause you are faith-ful to me,
Ex-tend to me your fa-vor, O Lord!
The Lord is both kind and fair;
that is why he teach-es sin-ners the right way to live.
May he show the hum-ble what is right!
May he teach the hum-ble his way!
The Lord al-ways proves faith-ful and re-li-a-ble
to those who fol-low the de-mands of his cov-e-nant.
For the sake of your rep-u-ta-tion, O Lord, for-give my sin,
For my sin is great.
The Lord shows his faith-ful fol-low-ers the way they should live.
They ex-pe-ri-ence his fa-vor;
their de-scen-dants in-her-it the land.
The Lords loy-al fol-low-ers re-ceive his guid-ance,
and he re-veals his cov-e-nant-al de-mands to them.
I con-tin-ual-ly look to the Lord for help,
for he will free my feet from the en-e-my's net.
Turn toward me and have mer-cy on me,
for I am a-lone and op-pressed!
De-liv-er me from my dis-tress;
res-cue me from my suf-fer-ing!
For-give all my sins! See my pain and suf-fer-ing!
Watch my en-e-mies, for they out-num-ber me;
they hate me and want to harm me.
Pro-tect me and de-liv-er me!
Please do not let me be hu-mil-i-at-ed,
for I have tak-en shel-ter in you!
May in-teg-ri-ty and god-li-ness pro-tect me, for I re-ly on you!
O God, res-cue Is-ra-el from all their dis-tress!
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
Readings
A reading from Sirach 4:20-5:7
Observe the right time, and beware of evil;
and do not bring shame on yourself.
For there is a shame which brings sin,
and there is a shame which is glory and favor.
Do not show partiality, to your own harm,
or deference, to your downfall.
Do not refrain from speaking at the crucial time,
and do not hide your wisdom.
For wisdom is known through speech,
and education through the words of the tongue.
Never speak against the truth,
but be mindful of your ignorance.
Do not be ashamed to confess your sins,
and do not try to stop the current of a river.
Do not subject yourself to a foolish fellow,
nor show partiality to a ruler.
Strive even to death for the truth
and the Lord God will fight for you.
Do not be reckless in your speech,
or sluggish and remiss in your deeds.
Do not be like a lion in your home,
nor be a faultfinder with your servants.
Let not your hand be extended to receive,
but withdrawn when it is time to repay.
Do not set your heart on your wealth,
nor say, I have enough.
Do not follow your inclination and strength,
walking according to the desires of your heart.
Do not say, Who will have power over me?
for the Lord will surely punish you.
Do not say, I sinned, and what happened to me?
for the Lord is slow to anger.
Do not be so confident of atonement
that you add sin to sin.
Do not say, His mercy is great,
he will forgive the multitude of my sins,
for both mercy and wrath are with him,
and his anger rests on sinners.
Do not delay to turn to the Lord,
nor postpone it from day to day;
for suddenly the wrath of the Lord will go forth,
and at the time of punishment you will perish.
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!
Monday - Song of Mary
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
My soul pro-claims the great-ness of the Lord,
my spi-rit re-joic-es in God my Sav-ior;
for he has looked with fa-vor on his low-ly serv-ant.
From this day all gen-er-a-tions will call me blessed:
the Al-might-y has done great things for me,
and ho-ly is his Name.
He has mer-cy on those who fear him
in eve-ry gen-er-a-tion.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scat-tered the proud in their con-ceit.
He has cast down the might-y from their thrones,
and has lift-ed up the low-ly.
He has filled the hun-gry with good things,
and the rich he has sent a-way emp-ty.
He has come to the help of his serv-ant Is-ra-el,
for he has re-mem-bered his prom-ise of mer-cy,
The prom-ise he made to our fath-ers,
to A-bra-ham and his chil-dren for-ev-er.
My soul pro-claims the great-ness of the Lord,
my spi-rit re-joic-es in God my Sav-ior;
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
A reading from Luke 9:51-62
Now when the days drew near for him to be taken up, Jesus set out resolutely to go to Jerusalem. He sent messengers on ahead of him. As they went along, they entered a Samaritan village to make things ready in advance for him, but the villagers refused to welcome him because he was determined to go to Jerusalem. Now when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do you want us to call fire to come down from heaven and consume them?” But Jesus turned and rebuked them, and they went on to another village.
As they were walking along the road, someone said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” Jesus said to him, “Foxes have dens and the birds in the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” Jesus said to another, “Follow me.” But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.” But Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” Yet another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but first let me say goodbye to my family.” Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!
Monday - Song of Moses
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
I will sing to the Lord,
for he is loft-y and up-lift-ed;
the horse and its rid-er
has he hurled into the sea.
The Lord is my strength and my ref-uge;
the Lord has be-come my Sav-ior.
This is my God and I will praise him,
the God of my peo-ple and I will ex-alt him.
The Lord is a might-y war-ri-or;
Yah-weh is his ho-ly Name.
The char-i-ots of Phar-oah and his ar-my
has he hurled into the sea;
The fin-est of those who bear ar-mor
have been drowned in the Red Sea.
The fa-thom-less deep has o-ver-whelmed them;
they sank into the depths like a stone.
Your right hand, O Lord,
is glo-ri-ous and might-y;
your right hand, O Lord,
has o-ver-thrown the en-e-my.
Who can be com-pared with you,
O Lord, a-mong the gods?
who is like you,
glo-ri-ous in ho-li-ness,
Awe-some in re-nown,
and work-er of won-ders?
You stretched forth your right hand;
the earth swal-lowed them up.
With your con-stant love
you led the peo-ple you re-deemed;
with your might you brought them in safe-ty
to your ho-ly dwell-ing place.
You will bring them in and plant them
on the mount of your pos-ses-sion,
In the rest-ing place
you have made for your-self, O Lord,
In the sanc-tu-ar-y, O Lord,
that your hand has es-tab-lished.
The Lord shall reign
for ev-er and for ev-er. A-men!
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
Prayers
Monday Creed
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
We be-lieve in God, the Fath-er al-might-y,
cre-a-tor of heav-en and earth.
We be-lieve in Je-sus Christ,
his on-ly son, our Lord.
He was con-ceived by the pow-er of the Ho-ly Spi-rit
and born of the Vir-gin Ma-ry.
He suf-fered un-der Pon-tius Pi-late,
was cru-ci-fied, died, and was bur-ied.
He de-scend-ed to the dead.
On the third day he rose a-gain.
He a-scend-ed into heav-en,
and is seat-ed at the right hand of the Fath-er.
He will come a-gain
to judge the liv-ing and the dead.
We be-lieve in the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
the ho-ly cath-o-lic Church,
the com-mun-ion of saints,
the for-give-ness of sins,
the res-ur-rec-tion of the bod-y,
and the life ev-er-last-ing. A-men.
Monday - Our Father
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
The Lord be with you.
And al-so with you. A-men.
Our Fath-er in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.
Your king-dom come,
your will be done, on earth as in heav-en.
Give us to-day our dai-ly bread.
For-give us our sins as we for-give those who sin a-gainst us.
Save us from the time of tri-al,
and de-liv-er us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the pow-er, and the glo-ry are yours,
now and for ev-er. A-men.

Save your peo-ple, Lord,
and bless your in-her-it-ance;
Gov-ern and guide them, Lord
and up-hold them, now and al-ways.
Day by day we bless you;
We praise your name for ev-er.
Lord, keep us from all sin to-day;
Have mer-cy up-on us, Lord, have mer-cy.
Lord, show us your love and mer-cy;
For we put our trust in you.
In you, Lord, is our hope;
And we shall nev-er hope in vain.
Collects of the Day
Almighty God, Lord of heaven and earth: We humbly pray that your gracious providence may give and preserve to our use the harvests of the land and of the seas, and may prosper all who labor to gather them, that we, who are constantly receiving good things from your hand, may always give you thanks; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
A Collect for the Renewal of Life
O God, the King eternal, whose light divides the day from the night and turns the shadow of death into the morning: Drive far from us all wrong desires, incline our hearts to keep your law, and guide our feet into the way of peace; that, having done your will with cheerfulness while it was day, we may, when night comes, rejoice to give you thanks; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Prayer for Mission
O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you; bring the nations into your fold; pour out your Spirit upon all flesh; and hasten the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
General Thanksgiving
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Al-might-y God, Fa-ther of all mer-cies,
we your un-wor-thy serv-ants give you hum-ble thanks
for all your good-ness and lov-ing kind-ness
to us and to all whom you have made.
We bless you for our cre-a-tion, pres-er-va-tion,
and all the bles-sings of this life;
but a-bove all for your im-meas-ur-a-ble love
in the re-demp-tion of the world by our Lord Je-sus Christ;
for the means of grace, and for the hope of glo-ry.
And, we pray, give us such an a-ware-ness of your mer-cy,
that with tru-ly thank-ful hearts
we may show forth your praise,
not on-ly with our lips, but in our lives,
by giv-ing up our selves to your ser-vice,
and by walk-ing be-fore you
in ho-li-ness and right-eous-ness all our days;
through Je-sus Christ our Lord,
to whom, with you and the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
be ho-nor and glo-ry
through-out all the ag-es. A-men.
