Savior, breathe an evening blessing,
The Invitatory and Psalter
V: O God, make speed | to save | us.
R: O Lord, | make haste | to help | us.
R: O Lord, | make haste | to help | us.
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
O Gracious Light Phos hilaron
O gracious light, pure brightness of the everliving Father in heaven,
O Jesus Christ, holy and blessed!
Now as we come to the setting of the sun,
and our eyes behold the vesper light,we sing your praises, O God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
You are worthy at all times to be praised by happy voices,
O Son of God, O Giver of life,
and to be glorified through all the worlds.
O Jesus Christ, holy and blessed!
Now as we come to the setting of the sun,
and our eyes behold the vesper light,
You are worthy at all times
O Son of God, O Giver of life,
and to be glorified through all the worlds.
Psalm 119:73-96

Your hands made me and formed me.
Give me un-der-stand-ing so that I might learn your com-mands.
Your loy-al fo-llow-ers will be glad when they see me,
for I find hope in your word.
I know, Lord, that your reg-u-la-tions are just.
You dis-ci-plined me be-cause of your faith-ful de-vo-tion to me.
May your loy-al love con-sole me,
as you prom-ised your serv-ant.
May I ex-pe-ri-ence your com-pas-sion, so I might live!
For I find de-light in your law.
May the ar-ro-gant be hu-mil-i-at-ed,
for they have slan-dered me!
But I med-i-tate on your pre-cepts.
May your loy-al foll-low-ers turn to me,
those who know your rules.
May I be ful-ly com-mit-ted to your stat-utes,
so that I might not be a-shamed.
I des-per-ate-ly long for your de-liv-er-ance.
I find hope in your word.
My eyes grow tired as I wait for your prom-ise to be ful-filled.
I say, When will you com-fort me?
For I am like a wine-skin dried up in smoke.
I do not for-get your stat-utes.
How long must your serv-ant en-dure this?
When will you judge those who pur-sue me?
The ar-ro-gant dig pits to trap me, which vio-lates your law.
All your com-mands are re-li-a-ble.
I am pur-sued with-out rea-son. Help me!
They have al-most de-stroyed me here on the earth,
but I do not re-ject your pre-cepts.
Re-vive me with your loy-al love,
that I might keep the rules you have re-vealed.
O Lord, your in-struc-tions en-dure;
they stand se-cure in heav-en.
You dem-on-strate your faith-ful-ness to all gen-er-a-tions.
You es-tab-lished the earth and it stood firm.
To-day they stand firm by your de-cree,
for all things are your serv-ants.
If I had not found en-cour-age-ment in your law,
I would have died in my sor-row.
I will nev-er for-get your pre-cepts,
for by them you have re-vived me.
I be-long to you. De-liv-er me!
For I seek your pre-cepts.
The wick-ed pre-pare to kill me,
yet I con-cen-trate on your rules.
I real-ize that eve-ry-thing has its lim-it,
but your com-mands are be-yond full com-pre-hen-sion.
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.
Readings
A reading from Acts 16:16-24
Now as we were going to the place of prayer, a slave girl met us who had a spirit that enabled her to foretell the future by supernatural means. She brought her owners a great profit by fortune-telling. She followed behind Paul and us and kept crying out, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are proclaiming to you the way of salvation.” She continued to do this for many days. But Paul became greatly annoyed, and turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her!” And it came out of her at once. But when her owners saw their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the authorities. When they had brought them before the magistrates, they said, “These men are throwing our city into confusion. They are Jews and are advocating customs that are not lawful for us to accept or practice, since we are Romans.”
The crowd joined the attack against them, and the magistrates tore the clothes off Paul and Silas and ordered them to be beaten with rods. After they had beaten them severely, they threw them into prison and commanded the jailer to guard them securely. Receiving such orders, he threw them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks.
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Glo-ry to God in the high-est,
and peace to his peo-ple on earth.
Lord God, heav-en-ly King,
al-might-y God and Fath-er,
We wor-ship you, we give you thanks,
We praise you for your glo-ry.
Lord Je-sus Christ, on-ly Son of the Fath-er,
Lord God, O Lamb of God,
You take a-way the sin of the world:
now have mer-cy on us;
you are seat-ed at the right hand of the Fath-er:
now re-ceive our pray-er.
For you a-lone are the Ho-ly One,
You a-lone are the Lord,
You a-lone are the Most High, Je-sus Christ,
with the Ho-ly Spi-rit, in the glo-ry of God the Fath-er.
A reading from John 12:20-26
Now some Greeks were among those who had gone up to worship at the feast. So these approached Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and requested, “Sir, we would like to see Jesus.” Philip went and told Andrew, and they both went and told Jesus. Jesus replied, “The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. I tell you the solemn truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it produces much grain. The one who loves his life destroys it, and the one who hates his life in this world guards it for eternal life. If anyone wants to serve me, he must follow me, and where I am, my servant will be too. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!
Wednesday - Second Song of Isaiah
Tenor Soprano Response Cantor Bass Alto PDF All
Seek the Lord while he wills to be found;
call up-on him when he draws near.
Let the wick-ed for-sake their ways
and the e-vil ones their thoughts;
And let them turn to the Lord,
and he will have com-pas-sion,
Let then re-turn to our God,
for he will rich-ly par-don.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor your ways my ways, says the Lord.
For as the heav-ens are high-er than the earth,
so are my ways high-er than your ways,
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
For as rain and snow fall from the heav-ens
and re-turns not a-gain,
but wat-ers the whole earth,
Bring-ing forth life
and giv-ing a-bun-dant growth
And seed for re-plan-ting
and bread and fruit for eat-ing,
So is my word that goes forth from my mouth;
it will not re-turn to me emp-ty;
But it will ac-com-plish that which I have pur-posed,
and pros-per in that for which I sent it.
Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.

We be-lieve in God, the Fath-er al-might-y,
cre-a-tor of heav-en and earth.
We be-lieve in Je-sus Christ,
his on-ly son, our Lord.
He was con-ceived by the pow-er of the Ho-ly Spi-rit
and born of the Vir-gin Ma-ry.
He suf-fered un-der Pon-tius Pi-late,
was cru-ci-fied, died, and was bur-ied.
He de-scend-ed to the dead.
On the third day he rose a-gain.
He a-scend-ed into heav-en,
and is seat-ed at the right hand of the Fath-er.
He will come a-gain
to judge the liv-ing and the dead.
We be-lieve in the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
the ho-ly cath-o-lic Church,
the com-mun-ion of saints,
the for-give-ness of sins,
the res-ur-rec-tion of the bod-y,
and the life ev-er-last-ing. A-men.

The Lord be with you.
And al-so with you. A-men.
Our Fath-er in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.
Your king-dom come,
your will be done, on earth as in heav-en.
Give us to-day our dai-ly bread.
For-give us our sins as we for-give those who sin a-gainst us.
Save us from the time of tri-al,
and de-liv-er us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the pow-er, and the glo-ry are yours,
now and for ev-er. A-men.

Show us your mer-cy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.
Clothe your min-is-ters with right-eous-ness;
Let your peo-ple sing with joy.
Give peace, O Lord, in all the world;
For on-ly in you can we live in safe-ty.
Lord, keep this na-tion un-der your care;
And guide us in the way of jus-tice and truth.
Let your way be known up-on earth;
Your sav-ing health a-mong all na-tions.
Let not the need-y, O Lord, be for-got-ten;
Nor the hope of the poor be tak-en a-way.
Cre-ate in us clean hearts, O God;
And sus-tain us by your Ho-ly Spi-rit.
Show us your mer-cy, O Lord;
And grant us your sal-va-tion.
Collect of the Day
O God, the King of glory, you have exalted your only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven: Do not leave us comfortless, but send us your Holy Spirit to strengthen us, and exalt us to that place where our Savior Christ has gone before; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting.
Amen.
A Collect for Protection
O God, the life of all who live, the light of the faithful, the strength of those who labor, and the repose of the dead: We thank you for the blessings of the day that is past, and humbly ask for your protection through the coming night. Bring us in safety to the morning hours; through him who died and rose again for us, your Son our Savior Jesus Christ.
Amen.
Prayer for Mission
O God and Father of all, whom the whole heavens adore: Let the whole earth also worship you, all nations obey you, all tongues confess and bless you, and men and women everywhere love you and serve you in peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Al-might-y God,
you have giv-en us grace at this time
with one ac-cord
to make our com-mon sup-pli-ca-tion to you;
and you have prom-ised
through your well-be-lov-ed Son
that when two or three are ga-thered to-geth-er in his Name
you will be in the midst of them:
Ful-fill now, O Lord, our de-sires and pe-ti-tions
as may be best for us;
grant-ing us in this world knowl-edge of your truth,
and in the age to come life ev-er-last-ing. A-men.

LEVAS II - Hymn 12 We’re marching to Zion
1 Come, we that love the Lord,
And let our joys be known;
Join in a song with sweet accord,
Join in a song with sweet accord,
And thus surround the throne,
And thus surround the throne.Refrain:
We’re marching to Zion,
Beautiful, beautiful Zion;
We’re marching upward to Zion,
The beautiful city of God.2 Let those refuse to sing
Who never knew our God;
But children of the heav’nly King,
But children of the heav’nly King,
May speak their joys abroad,
May speak their joys abroad. (refrain)3 The hill of Zion yields
A thousand sacred sweets
Before we reach the heav’nly fields,
Before we reach the heav’nly fields,
Or walk the golden streets,
Or walk the golden streets. (refrain)4 Then let our songs abound,
And ev’ry tear be dry;
We’re marching through Immanuel’s ground,
We’re marching thro’ Immanuel’s ground,
To fairer worlds on high,
To fairer worlds on high. (refrain)
And let our joys be known;
Join in a song with sweet accord,
Join in a song with sweet accord,
And thus surround the throne,
And thus surround the throne.
We’re marching to Zion,
Beautiful, beautiful Zion;
We’re marching upward to Zion,
The beautiful city of God.
Who never knew our God;
But children of the heav’nly King,
But children of the heav’nly King,
May speak their joys abroad,
May speak their joys abroad. (refrain)
A thousand sacred sweets
Before we reach the heav’nly fields,
Before we reach the heav’nly fields,
Or walk the golden streets,
Or walk the golden streets. (refrain)
And ev’ry tear be dry;
We’re marching through Immanuel’s ground,
We’re marching thro’ Immanuel’s ground,
To fairer worlds on high,
To fairer worlds on high. (refrain)
