Pentecost - Sunday Invitation

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

The Lord is in his ho-ly tem-ple;
let all the earth keep si-lence be-fore him
I was glad when they said to me,
Let us go to the house of the Lord.

Let the words of my mouth
and the med-i-ta-tion of my heart
be ac-cep-ta-ble in your sight, O Lord,
my strength and my re-deem-er.

Thus says the high and loft-y One
who in-hab-its e-ter-ni-ty,
whose name is Ho-ly,
I dwell in the high and ho-ly place

Send out your light
and your truth, that they may lead me,
and bring me to your ho-ly hill
and to your dwel-ling place.

Give thanks to the Lord, and call up-on his Name;
make known his deeds a-mong the peo-ples.
Lord, o-pen our lips.
And our mouth shall pro-claim your praise.

Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.

Sunday - Venite

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us shout for joy to the Rock of our sal-va-tion.
Let us come be-fore his pres-ence with thanks-giv-ing
and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.

For the Lord is a great God,
and a great King a-bove all gods.
In his hand are the cav-erns of the earth,
and the heights of the hills are his al-so.

The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands have mold-ed the dry land.
Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee,
and kneel be-fore the Lord our Mak-er.

For he is our God,
and we are the peo-ple of his pas-ture
and the sheep of his hand.
Oh, that to-day you would heark-en to his voice!

Psalms

Psalm 146

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul!
I will praise the Lord as long as I live!
I will sing prais-es to my God as long as I ex-ist!
Do not trust in princ-es, or in man kind, who can-not de-liv-er!

Their life's breath de-parts,
they re-turn to the ground; on that day their plans die.
How bless-ed is the one whose help-er is the God of Ja-cob,
whose hope is in the Lord his God,

the one who made heav-en and earth,
the seas, and all that is in them,
who re-mains for-ev-er faith-ful,
and vin-di-cates the op-pressed,

The Lord gives food to the hun-gry.
The Lord re-leas-es the im-pris-oned.
The Lord gives sight to the blind.
The Lord lifts up all who are bent o-ver.

The Lord loves the god-ly.
The Lord pro-tects the res-i-dent for-eign-er;
he lifts up the fa-ther-less
and cares for the wid-ow,

But he op-pos-es the wick-ed.
The Lord rules for-ev-er, your God, O Zi-on,
through-out the gen-er-a-tions to come!
Praise the Lord for-ev-er!

Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.

Psalm 147

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Praise the Lord, for it is good
to sing prais-es to our God!
Yes, praise is pleas-ant and ap-pro-pri-ate!
The Lord re-builds Je-ru-sa-lem,

And gath-ers the ex-iles of Is-ra-el.
He heals the bro-ken-heart-ed,
and band-a-ges their wounds.
He counts the stars and names them all.

Our Lord is great and has awe-some pow-er;
there is no lim-it to his wis-dom.
The Lord lifts up the op-pressed,
but knocks the wick-ed to the ground.

Of-fer to the Lord a song of thanks!
Sing prais-es to our God to the ac-com-pani-ment of a harp!
He cov-ers the sky with clouds,
He pro-vides the earth with rain,

And causes grass to grow on the hill-side.
He gives food to the an-i-mals,
and to the young ra-vens when they chirp.
He is not en-a-mored with the strength of a horse,

Nor is he im-pressed by the war-ri-or's strong legs.
The Lord takes de-light in his faith-ful fol-low-ers,
and in those who wait for his loy-al love.
Ex-tol the Lord, O Je-ru-sa-lem! Praise your God, O Zi-on!

For he makes the bars of your gates strong.
He bless-es your chil-dren with-in you.
He brings peace to your ter-ri-to-ry.
He a-bun-dant-ly pro-vides for you the best grain.

He sends his com-mand through the earth;
swift-ly his or-der reach-es its des-ti-na-tion.
He sends the snow that is white like wool;
He spreads the frost that is white like ashes.

He throws his hail-stones like crumbs.
Who can with-stand the cold wind he sends?
He then or-ders it all to melt;
He breathes on it, and the wat-er flows.

He pro-claims his word to Ja-cob,
his stat-utes and reg-u-la-tions to Is-ra-el.
He has not done so with any oth-er na-tion;
they are not a-ware of his reg-u-la-tion. Praise the Lord!

Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.

Readings

A reading from Numbers 27:12-23

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go up this mountain of the Abarim range, and see the land I have given to the Israelites. When you have seen it, you will be gathered to your ancestors, as Aaron your brother was gathered to his ancestors. For in the wilderness of Zin when the community rebelled against me, you rebelled against my command to show me as holy before their eyes over the water – the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin. ”

Then Moses spoke to the Lord:“Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all humankind, appoint a man over the community, who will go out before them, and who will come in before them, and who will lead them out, and who will bring them in, so that the community of the Lord may not be like sheep that have no shepherd. ”

The Lord replied to Moses, “Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him;set him before Eleazar the priest and before the whole community, and commission him publicly. Then you must delegate some of your authority to him, so that the whole community of the Israelites will be obedient. And he will stand before Eleazar the priest, who will seek counsel for him before the Lord by the decision of the Urim. At his command they will go out, and at his command they will come in, he and all the Israelites with him, the whole community. ”

So Moses did as the Lord commanded him; he took Joshua and set him before Eleazar the priest and before the whole community. He laid his hands on him and commissioned him, just as the Lord commanded, by the authority of Moses.

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Sunday - First Song of Isaiah

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Sure-ly, it is God who saves me;
I will trust in him and not be a-fraid.
For the Lord is my strong-hold and my sure de-fense,
and he will be my Sav-ior.

There-fore you shall draw wa-ter with re-joic-ing
from the springs of sal-va-tion.
And on that day you shall say,
Give thanks to the Lord and call up-on his Name;

Make his deeds known a-mong the peo-ples;
see that they re-mem-ber that his Name is ex-alt-ed.
Sing the prais-es of the Lord,
for he has done great things,

And this is known in all the world.
Cry a-loud, in-hab-it-ants of Zi-on, ring out your joy,
for the great one in the midst of you
is the Ho-ly One of Is-ra-el.

Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.

A reading from Acts 19:11-20

God was performing extraordinary miracles by Paul’s hands, so that when even handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his body were brought to the sick, their diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them. But some itinerant Jewish exorcists tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were possessed by evil spirits, saying, “I sternly warn you by Jesus whom Paul preaches. ” (Now seven sons of a man named Sceva, a Jewish high priest, were doing this. ) But the evil spirit replied to them, “I know about Jesus and I am acquainted with Paul, but who are you?” Then the man who was possessed by the evil spirit jumped on them and beat them all into submission. He prevailed against them so that they fled from that house naked and wounded. This became known to all who lived in Ephesus, both Jews and Greeks; fear came over them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was praised. Many of those who had believed came forward, confessing and making their deeds known. Large numbers of those who had practiced magic collected their books and burned them up in the presence of everyone. When the value of the books was added up, it was found to total fifty thousand silver coins. In this way the word of the Lord continued to grow in power and to prevail.

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Sunday - Glory to God

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Glo-ry to God in the high-est,
and peace to his peo-ple on earth.
Lord God, heav-en-ly King,
al-might-y God and Fath-er,

We wor-ship you, we give you thanks,
We praise you for your glo-ry.
Lord Je-sus Christ, on-ly Son of the Fath-er,
Lord God, O Lamb of God,

You take a-way the sin of the world:
now have mer-cy on us;
you are seat-ed at the right hand of the Fath-er:
now re-ceive our pray-er.

For you a-lone are the Ho-ly One,
You a-lone are the Lord,
You a-lone are the Most High, Je-sus Christ,
with the Ho-ly Spi-rit, in the glo-ry of God the Fath-er.

Prayers

Sunday Creed

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

We be-lieve in God, the Fath-er al-might-y,
cre-a-tor of heav-en and earth.
We be-lieve in Je-sus Christ,
his on-ly son, our Lord.

He was con-ceived by the pow-er of the Ho-ly Spi-rit
and born of the Vir-gin Ma-ry.
He suf-fered un-der Pon-tius Pi-late,
was cru-ci-fied, died, and was bur-ied.

He de-scend-ed to the dead.
On the third day he rose a-gain.
He a-scend-ed into heav-en,
and is seat-ed at the right hand of the Fath-er.

He will come a-gain
to judge the liv-ing and the dead.
We be-lieve in the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
the ho-ly cath-o-lic Church,

the com-mun-ion of saints,
the for-give-ness of sins,
the res-ur-rec-tion of the bod-y,
and the life ev-er-last-ing. A-men.

Sunday - Our Father

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

The Lord be with you.
And al-so with you. A-men.
Our Fath-er in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.

Your king-dom come,
your will be done, on earth as in heav-en.
Give us to-day our dai-ly bread.
For-give us our sins as we for-give those who sin a-gainst us.

Save us from the time of tri-al,
and de-liv-er us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the pow-er, and the glo-ry are yours,
now and for ev-er. A-men.

Sunday - Morning Suffrages B

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     All

Save your peo-ple, Lord,
and bless your in-her-it-ance;
Gov-ern and guide them, Lord
and up-hold them, now and al-ways].

Day by day we bless you;
We praise your name for ev-er.
Lord, keep us from all sin to-day;
Have mer-cy up-on us, Lord, have mer-cy.

Lord, show us your love and mer-cy;
For we put our trust in you.
In you, Lord, is our hope;
And we shall nev-er hope in vain.

Collect of the Day

O God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as surpass our understanding: Pour into our hearts such love towards you, that we, loving you in all things and above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

A Collect for Sundays

Lord God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ triumphed over the powers of death and prepared for us our place in the new Jerusalem: Grant that we, who have this day given thanks for his resurrection, may praise you in that City of which he is the light, and where he lives and reigns for ever and ever.

Amen.

Prayer for Mission

O God and Father of all, whom the whole heavens adore: Let the whole earth also worship you, all nations obey you, all tongues confess and bless you, and men and women everywhere love you and serve you in peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

General Thanksgiving

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Al-might-y God, Fa-ther of all mer-cies,
we your un-wor-thy serv-ants give you hum-ble thanks
for all your good-ness and lov-ing kind-ness
to us and to all whom you have made.

We bless you for our cre-a-tion, pres-er-va-tion,
and all the bles-sings of this life;
but a-bove all for your im-meas-ur-a-ble love
in the re-demp-tion of the world by our Lord Je-sus Christ;

for the means of grace, and for the hope of glo-ry.
And, we pray, give us such an a-ware-ness of your mer-cy,
that with tru-ly thank-ful hearts
we may show forth your praise,

not on-ly with our lips, but in our lives,
by giv-ing up our selves to your ser-vice,
and by walk-ing be-fore you
in ho-li-ness and right-eous-ness all our days;

through Je-sus Christ our Lord,
to whom, with you and the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
be ho-nor and glo-ry
through-out all the ag-es. A-men.
