Invitation

Pentecost - Saturday Invitation

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     All

The Lord is in his ho-ly tem-ple;
let all the earth keep si-lence be-fore him
I was glad when they said to me,
Let us go to the house of the Lord.

Let the words of my mouth
and the med-i-ta-tion of my heart
be ac-cep-ta-ble in your sight, O Lord,
my strength and my re-deem-er.

Thus says the high and loft-y One
who in-hab-its e-ter-ni-ty,
whose name is Ho-ly,
I dwell in the high and ho-ly place

Send out your light
and your truth, that they may lead me,
and bring me to your ho-ly hill
and to your dwel-ling place.

Give thanks to the Lord, and call up-on his Name;
make known his deeds a-mong the peo-ples.
Lord, o-pen our lips.
And our mouth shall pro-claim your praise.

Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.

Saturday - Venite

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us shout for joy to the Rock of our sal-va-tion.
Let us come be-fore his pres-ence with thanks-giv-ing
and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.

For the Lord is a great God,
and a great King a-bove all gods.
In his hand are the cav-erns of the earth,
and the heights of the hills are his al-so.

The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands have mold-ed the dry land.
Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee,
and kneel be-fore the Lord our Mak-er.

For he is our God,
and we are the peo-ple of his pas-ture
and the sheep of his hand.
Oh, that to-day you would heark-en to his voice!

Psalms

Psalm 20

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

May the Lord an-swer you when you are in trou-ble;
may the God of Ja-cob make you se-cure!
May he send you help from his tem-ple;
from Zi-on may he give you sup-port!

May he take no-tice of all your of-fer-ings;
may he ac-cept your burnt sac-ri-fice!
May he grant your hearts de-sire;
may he bring all your plans to pass!

Then we will shout for joy o-ver your vic-to-ry;
we will re-joice in the name of our God!
May the Lord grant all your re-quests!
Now I am sure that the Lord will de-liv-er his cho-sen king;

he will in-ter-vene for him from his ho-ly heav-en-ly tem-ple,
and dis-play his might-y a-bil-i-ty to de-liv-er.
Some trust in char-i-ots and oth-ers in hors-es,
but we de-pend on the Lord our God.

They will fall down,
but we will stand firm be-fore God.
The Lord will de-liv-er the king;
he will an-swer us when we call to him for help!

Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.

Psalm 21

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

O Lord, the king re-joices
in the strength you have giv-en;
he takes great de-light
in the de-liv-er-ance you pro-vide.

You grant him his hearts de-sire;
you do not re-fuse his re-quest.
For you br-ing him rich bles-sing;
you place a gold-en crown on his head.

He asked you to sus-tain his life,
and you have granted him long life
and an en-dur-ing dy-nas-ty.
Your de-liv-er-ance br-ings him great ho-no-r-;

You give him ma-jes-tic splen-dor.
For you grant him last-ing bles-sing;
you give him great joy
by allowing him into your pres-ence.

For the king trusts in the Lord,
and be-cause of the Most Highs faith-ful-ness
the king is not shak-en.
You pre-vail o-ver all your en-e-my;

Your pow-er is too great for those who hate you.
You burn them up like a fier-y fur-nace when you ap-pear;
the Lord an-gri-ly de-vours them;
and his fire con-sumes them.

You de-stroy their off-spring from the earth,
their descendants from a-mong the hu-man race.
Yes, they in-tend to do you harm;
they dream up scheme, but do not suc-ceed.

For you make them re-treat
when you aim your ar-rows at them.
Rise up, O Lord, in strength!
We will sing and praise your pow-er!

Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.

Readings

A reading from Deuteronomy 34:1-12

Then Moses ascended from the rift valley plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the summit of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho. The Lord showed him the whole land – Gilead to Dan, and all of Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the distant sea, the Negev, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of date palm trees, as far as Zoar. Then the Lord said to him, “This is the land I promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants. ’ I have let you see it, but you will not cross over there. ”

So Moses, the servant of the Lord, died there in the land of Moab as the Lord had said. He buried him in the valley in the land of Moab near Beth Peor, but no one knows his exact burial place to this very day. Moses was 120 years old when he died, but his eye was not dull nor had his vitality departed. The Israelites mourned for Moses in the rift valley plains of Moab for thirty days; then the days of mourning for Moses ended.

Now Joshua son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had placed his hands on him; and the Israelites listened to him and did just what the Lord had commanded Moses. No prophet ever again arose in Israel like Moses, who knew the Lord face to face. He did all the signs and wonders the Lord had sent him to do in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh, all his servants, and the whole land, and he displayed great power and awesome might in view of all Israel.

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Saturday - Song of Praise

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Glo-ry to you, Lord God of our fath-ers;
you are wor-thy of praise; glo-ry to you.
Glo-ry to you for the ra-di-ance of your ho-ly Name;
we will praise you and high-ly ex-alt you for ev-er.

Glo-ry to you in the splen-dor of your tem-ple;
on the throne of your maj-es-ty, glo-ry to you.
Glo-ry to you, seat-ed be-tween the Cher-u-bim;
we will praise you and high-ly ex-alt you for ev-er.

Glo-ry to you, be-hold-ing the depths;
in the high vault of heav-en, glo-ry to you.
Glo-ry to you, Fath-er, Son, and Ho-ly Spi-rit;
we will praise you and high-ly ex-alt you for ev-er.

A reading from Romans 10:14-21

How are they to call on one they have not believed in? And how are they to believe in one they have not heard of? And how are they to hear without someone preaching to them?And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How timely is the arrival of those who proclaim the good news. ” But not all have obeyed the good news, for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” Consequently faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the preached word of Christ.

But I ask, have they not heard? Yes, they have: Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world. But again I ask, didn’t Israel understand? First Moses says, “I will make you jealous by those who are not a nation; with a senseless nation I will provoke you to anger. ”And Isaiah is even bold enough to say, “I was found by those who did not seek me; I became well known to those who did not ask for me. ” But about Israel he says, “All day long I held out my hands to this disobedient and stubborn people!

Here ends the reading.
Thanks be to God!

Saturday - Song of Simeon

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Lord, you now have set your serv-ant free
to go in peace as you have prom-ised;
For these eyes of mine have seen the Sav-ior,
whom you have pre-pared for all the world to see:

A Light to en-light-en the na-tions,
and the glo-ry of your peo-ple Is-ra-el.
Lord, you now have set your serv-ant free
to go in peace as you have prom-ised;

Glo-ry to the Fath-er, and to the Son,
and to the Ho-ly Spi-rit:
as it was in the be-gin-ning, is now,
and will be for ev-er. A-men.

Prayers

Saturday Creed

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

We be-lieve in God, the Fath-er al-might-y,
cre-a-tor of heav-en and earth.
We be-lieve in Je-sus Christ,
his on-ly son, our Lord.

He was con-ceived by the pow-er of the Ho-ly Spi-rit
and born of the Vir-gin Ma-ry.
He suf-fered un-der Pon-tius Pi-late,
was cru-ci-fied, died, and was bur-ied.

He de-scend-ed to the dead.
On the third day he rose a-gain.
He a-scend-ed into heav-en,
and is seat-ed at the right hand of the Fath-er.

He will come a-gain
to judge the liv-ing and the dead.
We be-lieve in the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
the ho-ly cath-o-lic Church,

the com-mun-ion of saints,
the for-give-ness of sins,
the res-ur-rec-tion of the bod-y,
and the life ev-er-last-ing. A-men.

Saturday - Our Father

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

The Lord be with you.
And al-so with you. A-men.
Our Fath-er in heav-en,
hal-low-ed be your Name.

Your king-dom come,
your will be done, on earth as in heav-en.
Give us to-day our dai-ly bread.
For-give us our sins as we for-give those who sin a-gainst us.

Save us from the time of tri-al,
and de-liv-er us from e-vil.
For the king-dom, the pow-er, and the glo-ry are yours,
now and for ev-er. A-men.

Save your peo-ple, Lord,
and bless your in-her-it-ance;
Gov-ern and guide them, Lord
and up-hold them, now and al-ways].

Day by day we bless you;
We praise your name for ev-er.
Lord, keep us from all sin to-day;
Have mer-cy up-on us, Lord, have mer-cy.

Lord, show us your love and mer-cy;
For we put our trust in you.
In you, Lord, is our hope;
And we shall nev-er hope in vain.

Collects of the Day

O God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as surpass our understanding: Pour into our hearts such love towards you, that we, loving you in all things and above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

A Collect for Saturdays

Almighty God, who after the creation of the world rested from all your works and sanctified a day of rest for all your creatures: Grant that we, putting away all earthly anxieties, may be duly prepared for the service of your sanctuary, and that our rest here upon earth may be a preparation for the eternal rest promised to your people in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Prayer for Mission

Almighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of your faithful people is governed and sanctified: Receive our supplications and prayers which we offer before you for all members of your holy Church, that in their vocation and ministry they may truly and devoutly serve you; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Amen.

General Thanksgiving

Tenor     Soprano     Response     Cantor     Bass     Alto     PDF     All

Al-might-y God, Fa-ther of all mer-cies,
we your un-wor-thy serv-ants give you hum-ble thanks
for all your good-ness and lov-ing kind-ness
to us and to all whom you have made.

We bless you for our cre-a-tion, pres-er-va-tion,
and all the bles-sings of this life;
but a-bove all for your im-meas-ur-a-ble love
in the re-demp-tion of the world by our Lord Je-sus Christ;

for the means of grace, and for the hope of glo-ry.
And, we pray, give us such an a-ware-ness of your mer-cy,
that with tru-ly thank-ful hearts
we may show forth your praise,

not on-ly with our lips, but in our lives,
by giv-ing up our selves to your ser-vice,
and by walk-ing be-fore you
in ho-li-ness and right-eous-ness all our days;

through Je-sus Christ our Lord,
to whom, with you and the Ho-ly Spi-rit,
be ho-nor and glo-ry
through-out all the ag-es. A-men.
