Psalm 42

All     Cantor     Response     Soprano     Alto     Tenor     Bass

As the deer longs for the wa-ter brooks,
so longs my soul for you, O God.
My soul is a-thirst for God,
a-thirst for the liv-ing God;

when shall I come to ap-pear
be-fore the pres-ence of God?
My tears have been my food day and night,
while all day long they say to me,

Where now is your God?
I pour out my soul when I think on these things;
how I went with the mul-ti-tude
and led them into the house of God,

With the voice of praise and thanks-giv-ing,
a-mong those who keep ho--ly-day.
Why are you so full of heav-i-ness, O my soul?
and why are you so dis-quiet-ed with-in me?

Put your trust in God;
for I will yet give thanks to him,
who is the help of my coun-te-nance, and my God.
My soul is heav-y with-in me;

there-fore I will re-mem-ber you from the land of Jor-dan,
and from the peak of Miz-ar a-mong the heights of Herm-on.
One deep calls to an-oth-er
in the noise of your cat-a-ract;

all your rap-ids and floods have gone o-ver me.
The Lord grants his lov-ing kind-ness in the day-time;
in the night sea-son his song is with me,
a pray-er to the God of my life.

I will say to the God of my strength,
Why have you for-got-ten me?
and why do I go so heav-i-ly
while the en-e-mys op-press me?

While my bones are be-ing bro-ken,
my en-e-mys mock me to my face;
All day long they mock me
and say to me, Where now is your God?

Why are you so full of heav-i-ness, O my soul?
and why are you so dis-quiet-ed with-in me?
Put all your trust in God;
for I will yet give thanks to him,

who is the help of my coun-te-nance, and my God.
Put all your trust in God;
for I will yet give thanks to him,
who is the help of my coun-te-nance, and my God.
